I don't really watch television anymore, since to me, most TV is crap...too many "reality" shows, and stuff that doesn't interest me...however the above three shows, House, Monk & Psych are probably my favorite shows in a long time...is anyone else a fan of all 3 or one of the shows? It's kind of interesting to note that all 3 deal with some mystery, be it a medical mystery, a murder mystery, or just a mystery in general...perhaps that's why I love all 3 of the shows, as well as games like AA/Hotel Dusk...mysteries just intrigue me...Anyway, I just wanted to see if anyone else was a fan of these shows, and perhaps spark some discussion on the current season, future seasons, characters, etc.

I haven't seen House, but I am a big fan of Monk and Psych! I love both of those shows and look forward to the new episodes.... stinkin' January wait. I love the chemistry that goes on with the characters in both of those shows.

House is great, though it'd be better if it were set in England, so Hugh Laurie wouldn't have to sound like a cretin.

I recently finished three seasons of the House DVD's. I haven't started watching season 4 at all. I'll probably end up waiting for season 4 to come out on DVD before watching it though.

House is pretty cool, though it's driven for almost one hundred percent by Laurie, of course (just like PotC was driven by Depp).

Break it up, you two.

Darzie, quit being rude to Bleahlover. It's not like you haven't been a jerk to people about a topic that was already made.

Bleachlover, don't complain about there already being two topics about this. The person who made this topic didn't see the other two......and like Darzie said, you aren't the forum police. If Kenji or Croik wants to get rid of this topic, they will.

First and foremost, I realised how fucking annoying it was. That's why I've stopped.

And secondly, I never said anything about getting rid of the topic, did I? No. Thus, that makes doesn't make me a hypocrite.

Hmm, House is the only tv show I watch regularily aside from Heroes, but lately I've been lagging. I've found the writing horrible this season, and honestly, I think they need to seriously re-think what they're doing.
Everyone just seems so out of characer this season (and when the titular character is out of it? Not good) and I think the cast's brilliant acting is pretty much all that's holding me too it.

I like all three! I haven't watched Monk in a while, since I only like the ones with Sharona, and Psyche doesn't come on on AFN anymore. TV is limited here. I watch House every Saturday, though. It's great.

Monk and Psych are hilarious. They are two of my favorite shows. As for House, I don't care for it as much. I don't know why, but it's just not my kind of show.

Considering the writing started sucking waaaay before the writing strike started, and also that most shows affected by it are going off the air once the pre-written scripts are used up, I think that's a little off-base.

Although, honestly, if it was caused by the writer's strike I'd be more okay with it.

Same writers either way--Television writing is not exactly great literature.

Although honestly, this is probably why they get little sympathy from a majority of people.

"Hi we're striking for better wages to write TV shows."
"But your writing sucks."
"WELL YOU'RE JUST A CORPORATE SUPPORTER"
"Yeah uh whatever. Thanks for reviving reality tv by striking again, faggots."

May as well be, Zu. I don't think many people give a crap about the writers, regardless of the real reasons.

I seem to be one of the few people I know offline who's up in arms over the writer's strike.

I keep having to remind people that the actors are great, sure, but without writers, they don't have anything to SAY.

You'll have a bunch of people standing around getting filmed saying this:

"...Yup."
"Mmhm."
"So, that Emmy you won..."
"Oh. Yeah, 's on the mantel."
"Ohuh? Well. Dust it often?"
"Yup."

I could really care less about them, because most television isn't worth watching in the first place.

I care more about the peripheral people affected by the strike--places, like, say, near a popular theater that see dramatic drops in business.

Although I feel bad for the theater writers involved, television writers can all fall off a bridge and take the studios with them.

Fuck that. What matters is settling on residuals for internet distribution and its status as a distribution method, since it's going to set major precedents.

The very fact that there's even a strike over this is retarded; internet distribution is foreign distribution which is what the last strike was over.

Companies showing videos on the internet get money from the ads that people see while watching the shows. The Writer's Guild is arguing that since people are watching shows written by them and that's how the companies are making advertising money, they should get some of it.
(I mean, they also want more money for DVDs, but that's a different story)

Either way, I know a lot of people who sympathize with the Writer's Guild. That probably doesn't make much difference, but...they have the right to strike over what they feel are unfair working conditions. I'm rather confounded by people claiming that they'll miss their shows but mad about the Guild demanding a better situation for its workers. Obviously they feel there is some value behind the shows they're watching.
