So... While everybody's gushing over Sword Art Online, I'll make a thread about a really great anime I just finished quite recently called Kokoro Connect. It originally had only 12 episodes, but in December there were four more episodes that were released that wrapped up the series quite nicely.
Basically it's about these group of kids that don't really fit in with other clubs, so they make their own that encompasses all their own hobbies. So it's essentially a Culture Club. It comes off as a bit of a slice-of-life type show, and that may put off people who don't really care for that stuff. However, the show thrusts our beloved Culture Club into supernatural happenings that disrupts their quiet peaceful life out the window. I won't spoil anything, so let's move onto characters.
Spoiler: Non-spoiler Character Synopsis with Images
First we've got Taichi. He's that stereotypical quiet guy who doesn't like to see anybody get hurt, so he do anything in his power to save them. Even it may cost him his life. Oh yeah and he likes pro-wrestling.
Next we have Iori. The stereotypical energetic girl who likes to cause mischief. She can be somewhat pervy, and she gets along with everybody. She loves everything and dislikes nothing. Because of this she couldn't quite decide on which club to join.
Now we have Yoshifumi Aoki, but since no one calls him Yoshifumi we'll call him Aoki. He's that stereotypical pervy guy who has a huge crush on another girl in the Culture Club. He's a pretty average guy, so he's not too special.
This is Yui the girl Aoki has a crush on. She's an adorable red-head who's too well trained in karate. She loves cute things. I guess she's a stereotypical girl?
I saved the best girl for last. Himeko Inaba, but since no one calls her by her first name... well you get it. She's your stereotypical tsundere. Rather violent to the two male members of the club. She's calm and thinks logically a good majority of the time. She's best girl cause tsunderes are awesome.
I hope I didn't scare you away with the stereotypes I gave you. Anyway, Kokoro starts off as a pretty basic school slice-of-life anime, but once the supernatural aspect of the show is introduced the characters start delving into their dark pasts and such which really help develop the characters outside of their respective stereotypical shells. It's a great anime for those who love character development. There'll be some deep thinking involved I guarantee it since I found myself closely associating myself with Iori. Well anyway I hope some of you check it out and junk. If you have, discuss and stuff. Course use spoilers. I know I didn't when I blasphemed SAO.
I like slice of life animes but I wish they had more "life" to them. But I guess slice of life animes like Lucky Star and School Rumble weren't meant to be taken seriously. Slice of life animes that are all smiles and comic relief are probably as bad as those teenage sitcoms that overhype the bloody drama.
I heard of this anime and I was gonna watch it but currently I am watching an older shoujo anime that probably isn't very well known.

Well seeing as how Kokoro Connect isn't a slice-of-life then you shouldn't be too deterred from it. Also, if you don't like K-on's art I'd hate to see what you think of this:
Is it weird that I actually like the art style from Clannad better than the art style from K-On?
And the shoujo I am currently hooked to is called Ginban Kaleidoscope. The story isn't too groundbreaking but I likw the anime so far, and I see part of myself in the main character. And the artstyle reminds me of Tokyo Mew Mew and Tokyo Mew Mew is one of my favorites.
For short synopsis, Tazura I-forgot-her-surname is a figure skater from Japan who has hopes to become part of the olympics and the best skater in the world. But she has trouble since she still needs to practice more and has competition from all over the world, including an older Japanese woman. Her life is normal until one day she hears a boy's voice inside her head and later finds out that this boy is a Canadian ghost stuck in her body for 100 days until he gains his heavenly body. After that, insanity.
Spoiler: but those kind of animations are the best
As for the topic I have just finished the anime recently and thought the explainable supernatural gave it a nice twist and the characters were surprisingly realistic despite the stereotypical labels.
