Subaru noticed Alice's reaction to what the man had asked about and was reminded of why her father had texted her in the first place. "Yeah," she asked with a questioning tone, "is it true? Or did we come back around all this way for nothing?" Subaru was the type of girl who needed a reason for why she had to do things that seemed pointless in a way. If she didn't find a reason, she's start biting heads off looking for one.

"A-ah, don't worry Subaru, y-you two did come for a good reason," Alain said, noting the edge in Subaru's voice. "The reason why I asked for you and your friend to come here is because-" Right at that moment, Subaru's ringtone for her mother started playing. The song was "Destination Calabria", which she felt suited her mother very well, considering where she was.

"Oh, it's Mom. Let me put it on speakerphone." Subaru pressed a button on the side of the phone and sat it down on the desk in front of her. "Hey Mom! How's everything from your side of the speaker?"

"Hey, Subaru! It's so great to hear from you again!" Her mom's voice rang crystal clear through the speaker almost as if she was right there in the room with them. "I know I haven't called much since I left, and I know your father already knows, but I'm just calling to tell you that I'll be back in town in a few days, and my flight's tomorrow! Isn't that great?"

"Yeah! And as a matter of fact, Dad texted me earlier saying he had something to tell me at the agency, so I came here with a friend. Was he going to tell me that you were coming?"

"Oh my, I don't think that's what he was going to tell you. When I talked to him earlier, he said he had gotten put on the recent Kaito Kid case that's going on. Not only that, but since I'll be in town again soon, we'll all be able to help!"

Right when Subaru's mom had mentioned the Kid case, the man's attention snapped to the phone. Alain started rubbing the back of his neck and grinned widely. Subaru's head nearly popped at hearing the fact that her father was put on the Kid case mere days--no, hours--after the avatar was discovered to be missing. "Really?? That's great!! That means we actually have a big case on our hands again!" She sent a small glare towards her father before her mom spoke.

"Yes, it does! Well, it looks like I need to start getting my stuff together so I can be ready for the flight tomorrow. Talk to you guys later!

"Alright, I love you, Mom! Bye~!" Subaru turned off the speakerphone, closed her phone, and sat it on the desk. Then, she turned around and nearly tackled her father off his feet.

*trumpet sounds*

Though Alice was listening to the whole thing and was rather excited,she couldn't help but turn around slightly.When it came to hearing other people speak so lovingly to their family,she felt her eyes sting and a little voice mocking her for the fact that she didn't have a family.A few blurry images flashed across her vision whilst Subaru spoke to her mother.They weren't clear enough,neither were the sounds that came with the images.This really annoyed Alice.

She leant on the closest thing and covered her right eye with one hand.A habit of her's when she's not feeling well or something's bothering her.She turned back around to see Subaru's rather impressive tackle.The sight was sweet and Alice really did envy Subaru but,there was nothing she could do about it.

The man who had came to see Subaru's father stood up and shook Alain's hand. "So the rumor was true. I'm sorry for interrupting your daughter's... um.... tackling.... but I'd really like to talk to you about-" Before he could finish his sentence, Subaru had nearly hit the man with an airborne book

"Listen here, sir. My dad works for the people of the town, not for the police force. So for you to ask him to help you with the case purely because you're with the force, that simply cannot do." Subaru knew that once the man asked Alain about the case rumor, he was for sure from the police force. But everyone in town knew that Alain was happy working to help the townspeople with their problems, be it a murder, kidnapping, or theft, even if he was rarely called in to help.

Alain laughed and sat his daughter down on the ground before he replied to the man. "I'm sorry," he said, with a little bit of a laugh, "but my daughter's right. I can't just up and help the force with so many others needing help. Not only that, but I've got my own team right here." He pointed to Subaru and Alice as he said that, and Subaru just tiled her head and turned to look at Alice, and saw that she wasn't looking well.

"Alice," she said, "Are you all right?"

''I'm...ok...'' Alice said between a shaking sigh.Her hand left her eye and fell limply by her side.She shook her head and walked over to Alain.With a recovered smile,she shook his hand and gave a small bow.''Thank you for letting me help...'' she said then turned to Subaru ''Sorry...it's a little side affect of my amnesia...Some things triggers that reaction you just saw'' she explained and sighed again,shaking herself.Her eyes glanced side-ways at the other man behind her fringe before looking away.

"You sure you're alright?" Alain asked. "If you're not feeling well, you can stay here for the night. The weather for tonight said it was supposed to rain."

The man shook his head and turned to leave. "You're making a big mistake in not joining the force, Mr. Arisugawa. It'd be wise to-" Once again, the man's sentence was cut off by another airborne book from Subaru's direction.

"It'd be wise for you to leave before an ambulance has to come and pick an unconscious man up off the pavement," Subaru growled with another book in her hand. "Get, before 5 more volumes fly towards your head." The man slowly nodded his head and left the building. "Thank god he's gone," she said as she put the book down, but she noticed that he had left his bag by the desk. "Hm, what's this?" She picked up the bag and looked inside.

Alice stuttered slightly and swallowed,nodding.She hoped it would not turn into a storm...Alice had particularly serious dislike for thunder.With another shake of her head,Alice took out her mobile to send a text,telling her two loveable fools that she won't be back for tonight.Once that was done she gave a glare at the man.''Hmph...how I'd like to arrest him for harassment...'' "Hopefully it'll just rain lightly through the night so that your mom's flight won't be canceled," Alain said, taking off his jacket and sitting it on a coat rack in the far corner of the office while Subaru pulled out a laptop computer, iPod, cell phone, and multiple books on random things from the bag. "In the meanwhile, Alice, feel free to make yourself at home here. Our home and office is your home and office."

"In other words," Subaru added in as she turned on the TV with the remote, "whenever you feel like visiting here, just come on by! We'll always be happy to see you~! Now... How about more-" There was a bit of silence as Subaru stared at a piece of paper stuck on the laptop computer she found in the bag.

Alice smiled and actually blushed a bit,her pale cheeks turned slightly pink.
''Thank you...I'll visit you both for sure'' she nodded and felt her earlier despair of not having a family subside.Apart from her own office and her own apartment,Alice hadn't felt at home anywhere else apart from here.

When Subaru stopped mid-sentence,Alice went over to see what was wrong again.

"Dad....," Subaru stuttered, "Looks like today's your first day of duty...." She pulled off the piece of paper to show Alice and Alain what she found. It was a piece of paper that had a picture of a head in a top hat and monocle (background image on current avatar). This was the sign that Kaito Kid had been somewhere very near, and finding it on this laptop was not a very good sign.

"Oh my," Alain said, looking at the picture. "Now it's started, huh?"

''Looks like we're invited to the tea party...'' Alice said as she quickly dialed a number on her phone.
''Boss?'' the detective from earlier answered.
''Leon! This morning...remember that case I got offered?'' Alice glanced at the card Subaru was still holding ''Cancel the agreement and tell anyone else looking for my help that I'm already working on something.Tell your brother to filter the emails on my laptop...anything related to the thept of that computer avatar needs to be sent directly to my phone,got it?'' she didn't wait a reply and hung up.Leon was capable and a good listening...even if he was a goofball.

"Not only are we now on the avatar case," Subaru said, "we're also pretty much on whatever case Kid gets involved in now. And here's the first sign." She held up the paper with the picture on it. "It's clear now that Kid sees us as either a threat or a new toy." Subaru opened up the laptop and was surprised to see that the laptop was on, and a few program were running, one of which was a word document with some things already typed.

"So in other words," interjected (?) Alain, "he's now going to mess with us in every case he does?"

"Pretty much. And if that's not as bad, it looks like we've got a few other things we need to look for." What had been typed up was a list of valuable items that Kid was bound to target next.

''Let me see that...'' Alice looked at the computer at the list of items,her eyes taking a photo of each word.After what seemed to be a brief glance,she started using her phone again.Whoever she called picked up almost straight away.
''Yes,milady?'' that teasing nickname accompanied by that smooth voice really made Alice roll her eyes.
''Vincent...I'll be sending a list of items to you.Send whatever you find with the stuff Leon's sending me'' Alice ordered.
''Of course...anything else,milady?'' he asked.
''...Stop calling me that'' Alice retaliated and hung up,but not before hearing a soft chuckle.

"How long do you think it'll be until Kid sends out his next notice?" Alain asked as it started raining outside.

"Hopefully pretty soon," Subaru replied. "The sooner he strikes, the sooner we can get to work." She walked into the kitchen and looked around in the fridge for something to make dinner with. "Does anyone have any preferences for something to eat for dinner? Or does anyone want to order out?"

"Go right ahead, I don't mind," said Subaru. "I'll finish up these dishes in the sink here and I'll be able to help you." Most of the time, Subaru and her father ate out from a restaurant or she heated a pre-made casserole in the oven, and when her mother was home, she'd help Subaru make a full meal.

Alice smiled and reached into her jacket pocket for a hair-tie.It was hard tying up her waist length hair but,she did it with ease due to practice.She took her jacket off so she was just wearing her waist-coat and shirt with a matching tie.After rummaging a bit through the fridge,Alice decided on pasta...Her main skills were in Eastern cooking but,eating the same type of stuff all the time was boring.Alice hated boredom.

Alain popped his head into the kitchen while Subaru got the dishes started and Alice figured out what to make. "Anything I need to get from the store while I'm out?" he asked while he put on his jacket.

"Uh.... One jug of milk and some cat food," Subaru replied. "Mr. Bigglesworth came back yesterday, and he looks really skinny now. Do you need anything, Alice?"

Alice had just put the pasta in the other pot when she heard the TV...She was getting bored with all the deaths.But she had to admit that these things happen everyday...She often wondered if her parents would end up in the news.

''Um...Subaru...can you held me get some plates?'' she asked.For some reason she felt nostalgia.It was like she had a sister before.

"Ah, sure," Subaru said as she reached up to the cabinet above the bar and opened the door to one of the shelves. "I wonder if the car accident is connected to the Kid case at all. Highly unlikely though, right?" She counted out three plates and sat them beside where Alice was cooking.

(Just a heads up, my time on here's gonna be a bit choppy because my home computer crashed, so I'm using my grandmother's computer right now, and I can't be over here every day, so just keep that eye out. I'm not dead, I've just been unconscious since May 24. :D)

"A public water fight?" Subaru laughed at that comment. "Funny how big adventures can come from the smallest of events." She texted her father that the food was ready and put her phone back as she sat at the table. "But if it is connected, then we've got our time to work now."

Hello, I PMed my character profile, to you, so...I'm gonna start.

"Ugh," Heinel muttered as he wasn't finding any cases related to Kaito Kid, since the last one was taken.He was working as a detective today, so he was looking for cases.His vacation as a forensics was only 2 months long, so he had no time to lose.

"Screw this, I'm going out to dinner." He muttered and went out the door.

(Oh, hai! Yeah I got it, but I've got less internet time than during the school year, so my replying's gonna be off a bit. But here, I'll start off a bit of the story with you, if that's okay.)

While Subaru and Alice ate their plates of food, Alain was on his way home when he heard the rerun of the car accident on TV. "Wow. First the Kid theft and now a car accident?" He shook his head and continued walking home. "I bet Subu and her friend are thinking that the incidents are related," he said to himself as he passed by a man with snow white hair and crimson eyes.
