Floyd gulped. "Er, Ms. Von Karma, I'm just here to let you know that I'm going to be your detective for the case coming up tomorrow. I was given this file by Mrs. von Richter, and I felt you should know that I have to gather all the information I can about the case tomorrow morning regarding Ms. Axiom." He spoke quickly, hoping to leave as soon as possible.

Floyd couldn't help but notice Howl Ingmune also in the room. "Oh, I'm sorry if I'm interrupting you, ma'am," he added, looking nervously at the other prosecutor in the office.

"So, Mr. Floyd Ambrose, you are the head detective on this case?" Franziska said with a tone of amusement in her voice and a condescending grin on her lips. "I trust you'll be able to stay awake this time?" She motioned with her hand for him to come inside and have a seat near Howl. "Don't worry. You aren't interrupting anything important." She shot a quick glance towards Howl with a mocking smile on her face.

Returning to her position in front of the bookcase, Franziska snatched the file she had been looking at before Floyd entered and briefly held it up to bring his attention to it. "I received the file for Ms. Sheila Axiom's case less than three minutes ago. At this point, I'd say you are better informed about the details than I am." She knew what little Sheila had told her earlier in the day, but nothing more as she hadn't had time to fully review the case file.

Wait. . . Franziska's finely tuned skills as a prosecutor told her something was amiss. . . . how did the detective know to come to me? That I was the prosecutor? I certainly never told him.

She shot a curious glance up at the detective, her eyes slightly squinted. "How did you know I was one of the prosecutors? It didn't mention the name of either prosecutor in the file here," Even in the brief time she had the file, Franziska did notice that much, "and I only just found out myself about ten minutes ago." Franziska gave Floyd Ambrose a suspicious once-over. "Who told you?" She readied her whip, prepared for whatever Floyd's answer was.

((Floyd can't tell Franziska about his meeting with Sheila. . . what excuse will he come up with, I wonder? :franny: ))
((The part about Floyd "staying awake" was a reference to earlier in this thread... CCCM will get it ^_^))

((Franziska is a cruel mistress :sadshoe: ))

Franziska ushered Floyd in, giving him a mocking smile in her usual snarky way that made Floyd's blood boil. However, with nothing to say in his defense, he simply said, "Er, yes ma'am." He turned to Prosecutor Ingmune and nodded respectfully, then fidgeted in his chair, getting a better grip on the file Valenzia had given him.

He felt a twinge of pride in knowing more than Franziska about a trial, but his heart skipped a beat when she asked how he knew she was the prosecutor. He gulped, but tried to pass it off as a cough. "Well, I, uh, happened to be near Mrs. von Richter's room, and before she gave me this file, she also mentioned your's and Mr. Ingmune's names to a colleague on the phone." He said a silent prayer that she would believe him, and his eyes glanced nervously at her whip.

"Hm... that's funny. So the Chief called Mrs. von Richter about a case that has no interest to her? Unless the Chief called her more than 20 minutes ago, about the time I recieved the call about my co-chairing, I find that hard to believe..." Howl stood, pacing the desk. "For what you've provided, you've lacked a reason for the source of information, and how you obtained information from said source. I can propose only one theory... for only three people were aware, within the twenty minutes of the assignment being released, of who the prosecutors are. I have been with Devil-heels over here for a good standing of time, while the rest of her was spent with a certain other prosecutor. We hadn't spoke out loud of our assignment. So my question is why her? You went straight to the defendant, no? I simply ask you "why"? No wonder you detectives ingest lies so quickly. Gather facts before stories." Howl sat back down, and looked out the massive window. "Your move."

...Shit. Floyd was caught red-handed. He could not speak for a moment. I need to get better at lying... Floyd sighed. "Look, I just had a... strange feeling about this case. I felt like I needed both sides of the story. It all seems a bit funny how there are two prosecutors for this case, and I'm sorry, but this case seems like something easily handled and done with."

"I'm sorry that I lied, but hell, you expect me to tell you the truth? I'm gonna get chewed out either way, I've accepted that by now." He shrugged.

((Well, Howl certainly got to the point quickly. . . I do feel kinda bad for Floyd now :aliahands: ))
((I don't remember if we've already established that Sheila is defending herself. . . for the purposes of my post, I assume we have.))

As Floyd admitted to contacting the defense/defendant, Franziska's face adopted a look of sheer shock. She uncoiled her whip, and struck Floyd with a forceful blow to his upper arm. "You are the detective on this case for, what. . . less than thirty minutes, and you are ALREADY helping the defense!?" Her whip lashed out again, this time at his chest. "You are a disgrace to the entire Police Force! How do people like you ever achieve the position of 'detective', anyways!?" The anger built up inside of her was certainly enough to have put Floyd into the Emergency Room, but Franziska stopped herself- no matter what sort of stunts he pulled, she still needed him to be functional. He was the Head Detective, after all. There was no point in injuring him to the point that he couldn't preform his duties. Now Howl on the other hand. . . She grinned inwardly, but refrained from acting on her impulse.

Franziska quickly looked off the the side and let out a heavy sigh. This was going to be a l-o-n-g trial. She recoiled her whip and brought her hand to her face, pinching the bridge of her nose and bowing her head slightly down. "Seeing as you are still under our command, we have a right to any information you may have gathered." Her eyes rose and she she looked at the detective. "What have you learned so far?" She brought her hand down and leaned back up against the bookcase. "That includes any information you may have gotten from the defendant."

((@CCCM: As far as I am concerned, I would be alright if you made up a few details of Sheila's case right now. Things that Floyd might have learned from having the most time with the case file. Nothing too detailed if you don't want to, but someone needs to at least know what type of evidence Sheila was accused of forging. . .))

((EDIT: I just realized that Howl has probably read the case file as well. . . LWOD, please interject if you want to ^_^))

Floyd gripped his arm and gritted his teeth. Knew it. After the assault, he began to list the facts he knew about the case. "Ok. Well, the details are basically that the defendant is being accused of forging a document stating that the defendant in a former case of hers was punched in at his place of work where the crime he was accused of took place. The person who accused her was the defense attorney of that trial." He cleared his throat and flipped through his file.

"This is all the information I've gathered so far. Ms. Axiom told me nothing more than who was prosecuting this case and that she believes that she is innocent, although considering the source, I don't think that matters."

((Is there another witness involved?))

((I am assuming so.))

Howl closed his eye, forming a beginning plan of attack. This seemed to be such a simple open-shut case... but why would they allow co-chairs on a case this simple? It was rather mind-boggling.

"We also have the supposed forged document, as well as two witnesses: the defense attorney that claimed Sheila forged evidence, and the defendant of the case in question to testify that the punched document is a fake." Howl sighed, running his fingers through the snow on his head. "I don't believe that this is a simple open-shut case... that only means there is a string somewhere. A string such that once we find it and pull it, and whatever it is connected to is open, we will find the ammunition we need to win." Howl stood up, height enforcing attention. He walked closer to the window, taking the scenery in. "What I don't understand is the motive. For what I can say right now there isn't a motive immediately available that would hold water." He turned on his heel, facing the duo across from the desk. "Detective, I request that you look into the case we are calling into question. I want to know all of the witnesses that were present, and absolutely any connection you can dig up between Prosecutor Axiom and the defendant of the case in question. I would think the best place to start would be to establish some sort of broken feelings between Sheila and the defendant." He then snapped his head to the blue-haired devil, unleashing a glare with such intensity he had never dealt before. His grey eye symbolized the barrel of a loaded gun.

"And I don't let my feelings steal the work that is my prosecuting abilities. I was only stating what you could only have been feeling as well. And by your tone of response, my theory was right. You 'don't know' either. Acquittal or conviction. One you save a friend and co-worker, the other you protect your petty reputation but sentence Sheila." His boots, sounding their steps, began to take him towards Franziska. "While I have already met with the fact that I will only pull the truth from what lies will be presented, I cannot be in control of who is the guilty party. As long as I can convict a criminal, my work is done." His frown met that of Franziska's. "We are co-chairing, and that's final." He hadn't realized he had his index finger extended towards Franziska. He was stopped maybe a foot from her. "Now you can either take this case for what we can work, or I would be more than happy to request a replacement prosecutor to fill your spot. It is up to you."

Floyd couldn't help but smile as Prosecutor Ingmune took the fight to Franziska. If anyone could do it, it was him. The detective nodded after Howl was finished, then collected the file and stood up. "I'll be off then. I'll come back when I have some new information." He scurried out of the office and breathed a sigh of relief for what felt like the thousandth time today.

He looked down at the file and thought for a moment. It was time to find this defense attorney and have a chat with him about what he knew and his motives for pressing this case.

((Longer post, but TBH I'm kinda proud of Franziska here. . . I think she had a pretty good comeback for dealing with Howl. Must have been that luck Sheila wished her :D))

Listening carefully to everything Floyd Ambrose and Howl Ingmune said, Franziska felt she now had a better grasp of the case she was given to prosecute. She was deep in thought as the two talked, but then immediately forgot what she was thinking about when Howl began his tirade against her.

*insert LWOD's second paragraph here*

Franziska raised her eyebrows wonderment as the man spoke. When he finished - complete with a very rude index finger extended in her direction - she could only help but tilt her head up and back slightly, adopting her condescending grin. She placed one arm akimbo on her hip and grasped her coiled weapon with her free hand. "Well that was quite the delayed response, wasn't it?"

She didn't realize that Floyd had excused himself and left. Or at least she didn't acknowledge him when he did. ((Poor detective :sadshoe: . . . ))

Noticing the very short distance between herself and the unruly prosecutor, Franziska blinked a few times before placing an open palm on each of his shoulders and gently pushing him backwards. "You obviously have no concept of personal space." Without turning around, she too stepped backwards a few feet. She set one arm horizontally across her stomach and rested the elbow of her opposite arm rest on the perch she created, cradling her head on the back of her hand. "Let me start off with saying that you need not worry about my being your co-council. I've already spoken with the Chief Prosecutor about the subject, and he was very resolute about having you and I prosecute this case together. Save for someone ordering a hit on him or one of us, our positions as co-councils are solidified until the end of this trial."

Although Franziska's initial reaction had been a watered-down version of "shock", to be entirely truthful Howl Ingmune didn't scare her. At least not any more. She had become used to dealing with the man's outlandish antics, and knew that his over-the-top aggression was just part of who he was. She spoke again. "And what your rather-abhorrent rant just now shows me is that your years as a prosecutor haven't been of any use to you at all. " Franziska heard her voice begin to raise, but she managed to keep it to a low-roar. "The system of courts in this and every other country is corrupt. Everyday, criminals walk free and innocent people are convicted. You forget what your purpose as a prosecutor is if you think you are meant to be looking for the 'truth'. Our world is so filled with lies that I don't think you'd recognize the truth, even it came up and introduced itself to you. . ." She paused. ". . . and likely, neither would I."

Franziska began to pace around the room, every now and then taking a look back at Howl. "What you also fail to realize, Mr. Howl Ingmune, is that we don't decide the truth. The judge or the jury do. And I assure you that you are deluding yourself if you believe you have so much control over any one person or group of people that you can tell them how to think." While roaming around, Franziska managed to make it back to her desk and grab the case file Howl brought. "The only thing you and I can do as prosecutors is to present our side of the case-" She held up the pile of papers and shook it a bit, "what we are given in this file and what we can deduce on our own based on the evidence given."

Now making unwavering eye-contact with Howl, she strutted back over to where he was standing and said her final few words. "Although I certainly don't approve of my Papa's behavior later in life, I now understand where he was coming from with his idea of 'convict every defendant'. It may seem egregious to you, it makes a great deal of sense once you get back on speaking terms with reality. As prosecutors, that is our job and what our office expects us to do." Her expression hardened and she spoke with much passion and authority. "What I mean to say by all of this is that our purpose tomorrow is to present the State's case against the defendant, and rebut the evidence that the defense presents. We are not the judge and we are not the jury, but I'll be dead before I allow you to prevent me from doing my job as a head prosecutor."

((*grins widely* I love RPing :D))

Howl had swirls of anger and resentment of even speaking his mind a few moments ago, but the prosecutor sighed, scratching the back of his head. He didn't really know why he had even tried to pick at Franziska with his own distortment of thoughts. So at this point it was either blow back up at Franziska, or just to let the ordeal slide against him, and he would deal with the repercussions later.

He sat back down, voice four notches calmer than before. "Give me this, of an answer, that you don't find this whole case a two-sided trap: Pride vs. Protection. I don't want a blow up of what you or I find right, or how you think feelings affect your job. No one can hear you but me at this moment. Don't you have even a tinge of washed-guilt hovering over your mind?" He locked eye contact onto the other prosecutor, and continued without adequately waiting for a response. "But what you fail to realize is I'm not discussing absolute truth. There is a term I thought you would have been familiar with. 'Truth in conviction'. I don't believe my job is to seek truth, rather to convict the guilty man to as in the name of the law. Defendants will lie in hopes to produce an outcome they find favorable. We, as prosecutors tear their lies until we find what we plead as our case, OUR accepted truth. It actually insulting thinking you deprore my being a prosecutor. I never said anything about me being able to control the decision, but is by presentation and case that we sway the ruling in our favor. I also never said anything about deciding the truth, or truth over conviction. One is to be deemed uneducated to think that absolutely every single defendant is guilty or innocent. That's like flipping a coin and expecting 'heads' every single time. It is only by presented cases that every ruling you win as a conviction is right. While I could go on to criticize your analysis of my response, I would find only instantaneous satisfaction that would fade come an hour, and nothing to better the already wrecked bridge we have between us. Honestly, I never left reality. I merely let my opinions out onto a co-worker I felt would understand my seeming aggression as just my normal self, which was a complete flop, thus why I always keep a hard edge up anymore."

He leaned his head on his thumb and index finger, elbow rested on the armrest. "Now, I do find fault in my accusation of requesting another prosecutor. I don't believe in status of 'Head Prosecutor' or 'Second-tier'. But it is foolish to believe that if we take our jobs as prosecutors and like them to that of a filter, that you separate the two strongest filters from the water and expect the cleanest result." His voice, was still as calm as before. "That is the only thing I should be at fault here for. I do just as well of a job as you do given any case. We have both won, and lost our share of battles in court. The only difference is the title on our placards, and I'll be damned if I don't share the same title as you within a year."

As Howl spoke, Franziska too decided to sit down. She pulled up one of the chairs in front of her desk and turned it around, so as to be facing Howl. Daintily, she took her seat and crossed her legs, still listening to what Howl was saying.

As he finished speaking, Franziska found herself a bit confused. She knew she hated this man. She knew that she hated him with every fiber of her being. But somehow, she couldn't help but feel closer to him. He thought. . . I would understand him. . . ? Howl had confided in her and she didn't even realize it.

She folded her hands on her lap, on top of her whip, and looked up at Howl as she spoke. "I never said I deplored you being a prosecutor." Her tone, like Howl's, was now calm. "And I never said that I thought all defendants were guilty. They aren't the only ones who lie. Everyone does. Because of this, we can only hope to get a conviction every time we walk into a courtroom." She paused. "Just like a defense attorney can only hope to acquit all of their clients."

"But," Franziska held up an open palm in front of her, as an attempt to prevent Howl from rebutting what she had just said. "I digress. You are right in saying that we can argue about this all day." She rose to her feet and wandered over to the window, not exactly sure how to proceed. To be truthful, Franziska still found it hard to believe Howl was confiding in her earlier.

It was as if she wasn't in control of what she said anymore. "What you stated earlier wasn't entirely untrue." Franziska closed her eyes and spoke- she couldn't believe what she was saying. "You were right in the sense that I don't know what to do tomorrow." She rotated around and faced him, still with the indistinct feeling that she was watching herself from the outside. "I don't believe that it's any sort of a trap, though. I find it hard to imagine anyone wanting to put us in a situation like this on purpose."

((@LWOD: It seems Howl had roughly the same effect on her as Miles Edgeworth did. She's a bit vulnerable and extremely uncomfortable right now and it's up to Howl to see that. If he mistreats her right when she's actually opening up to him a bit, she'll never do it again. I just hope he handles it right. :jake: ))

Sheila Axiom always considered herself a strong woman. She hadn't cried since the conclusion of that case, which was about a year ago, and before that, she hadn't cried since she was a child. It wasn't as if she was some emotionally unstable person. But, one would think she was as she got a paper cut while organizing case files and out of the blue started crying. It wasn't the paper cut that caused her tears...it was the possibility of never organizing case files again, of never entering her office after that day, of Franziska and Howl feeling she betrayed them...that made the tears flow from her eyes. Of course, she had closed her office door so no one would see this, and she was currently hiding behind her desk, hoping no one would hear her, either. She'd just have to reapply her makeup later as she curled into a ball. Yup. So much for being powerful Sheila Axiom, among the best of prosecutors, eh?

After a long time of thinking (and pure boredom), Adam decided to pay the courthouse a visit. His goal was to get as much information on this case as posible, after all he is the judge of this case, even if temporarily.

"I'm going out," he said to Lana as he got up and walked twoards the door. The momment of being informed about being a temporary judge felt like a distant memory to him, even though he heard the news 45 minutes earlier. All the feelings of exitement and anticipation were gone, only to be replaced by boredom and nervousness. He exited the building and walked twoards his bycicle.

(Hmph, those prosecutors are lucky. They get to ride fancy cars and get huge paychecks, while we deffense attorneys pedal everywhere and barely make any money.....) he though as he got on. But he didn't care. Right now, he had to find out as much as he could about the case as well as about the people related to it.

"Ok. See you later." Lana said. She started to read a random book.

((Well, Lana has to find out about this case somehow, sooooo...Here goes!))

A random TV near Lana blared, "In top news today, Prosecutor Sheila Axiom has been accused of forging evidence! She will have a hearing tomorrow to determine whether or not she is guilty, and is presumably at her office, saying her final good-byes! Of course, that's what we all know she's doing because look at her hair! Someone smart, with that hair? That can't be genuine!" And the TV continued to rail on Sheila, because this was Fox news, after all.

"Whatever. This could be my first case! I have to get to the detention center!"
Lana turned the TV off but she remembered that the TV said that Sheila was at the prosecutor's office. She went to her car but it was out of gas.
"Darn it!"

((Note: Sheila is not at the detention center yet, and so far no one is at the court house. She is at the Prosecutor's Office, as are Howl, Franziska, and Floyd, although Floyd is probably gonna leave soon to find the defense attorney who filed the claim against Sheila in the first place. Sorry for posting only OOC, but this is just so y'all know thus far and so we're on the same page.))

Adam finally arrieved at the courthouse.

"*Gasp* *Pant*.... Gah..! Huff, I forgot how far away the courthouse was from the offices...! *Puff*... OK, next time a client decides to actually pay me, say the freaking money to buy a car...! *Gasp*....."

Adam walked in and then headed for the courthouse library. Once there, he asked for the case file of State vs. Sheila Axiom. He sat down, and started to read.

(Sheila Axiom, huh..... I've heard of her..... Yeah, that one prosecutor....)

Eventually, Adam finished the file in about 20 minutes. He felt a bit uneasy about there being two prosecutors and the deffendant deffending herself alone. He wanted to help her, but he couldn't. After all, he had judge duty tomorrow. However, at that momment he remembered.

(Lana!! She's looking for a case! What better first case then the one were you deffend an old co-worker!! I better go and tell her!!)

He then walked out of the courthouse, and headed twoards his bike. He then remembered he had to pedal ALL the way back to the office.

Floyd went out of the office to his car, after finding the address of the defense attorney, Roger Clyde. He went immediately there. After buying a donut.

Licking his fingers clean as he stepped through the door of Clyde's firm, he walked up to the secretary and asked her if he could see Mr. Clyde. She looked up at him, then picked up her phone to let Roger know he had a visitor.

Floyd stepped into the office, where Roger Clyde was sitting at his desk, rummaging through some paper work. "Hello, Mr. Clyde, I'm Detective Floyd Ambrose." He flashed his badge at the man. He never got tired of that. "I'm here to ask you a few questions regarding the case tomorrow."

Roger smiled and offered him a seat. "Of course, Detective. What would you like to know?" When Roger smiled at him, Floyd couldn't help but notice his amazingly bright teeth. His clothes were tailored and neat, and the office around him looked very professional. Floyd cleared his throat. "Well, Mr. Clyde, as I'm sure you're aware, you will be a witness in tomorrow's trial. I'd like to ask you a few questions about the circumstances surrounding your accusation of Ms. Axiom." Roger frowned. "Ms. Axiom forged a document that linked my client at the time, Dennis Young, to the scene of the crime when he was with his girlfriend at the time of the murder."

Floyd wrote that down on a notepad he pulled from his jacket pocket. "And what makes you think the evidence was forged?" Roger was silent for a moment, but quickly picked the conversation back up. "My client was not at the Auto Repair shop where the crime took place. That punch card was falsified to link my client to the crime." Floyd eyed him. "Yes, but what about the document leads you to believe it was forged?" Roger shifted in his seat, picking up a paper from his desk. "Rest assured, everything will be handled in the case tomorrow. Now, if you'll excuse me, Detective, I have to get back to work here. You can let yourself out." Floyd's eyes narrowed, but he said nothing. He stood up, collecting the file and walking back to his car.

As he started the engine, Floyd sighed. Clyde seemed very evasive, and he got the feeling that maybe he didn't have any proof at all the document was forged. Floyd looked at the dashboard and thought. "Maybe it was just a ploy, a stall for time. In that case, why is there so much being put onto this case?" he asked himself. He knew that this would only be answered at the trial tomorrow, but first, he decided he had to speak with the defendant of the old trial, Mr. Dennis Young.

Adam had finally arrieved at the office. He was a bit sweaty and red in the face.

He walked in, draging his feet, panting as he took every step. Finally, he made it to a couch in the office, and fell, face first, into it. He remained face down on the couch for a few minutes so he could catch his breath.

"Lana, I...... think I found a case for you..." he finally said, however his voice was muffled because his face was still flat on the couch. "I think I found the case just for you. It's about a prosecutor by the name of Shelia Axiom being accused of forging evidence. Maybe you know her?"

"Adam? Are you ok?" Lana asked after Adam told her everything.
"And I don't remember a Shelia Axiom. And I saw that case on TV. I was going to go to the detention center but my car's out of gas." Lana said.

"So I came back here for nothing?!" Adam gave a muffled yell, for his face was sttill flat against the couch. He was tired, hot and sweaty, so he oviously wasn't in a good mood. Still, he sat up.

"Well, she's not in the detention center. She's still down at the Prosecutor's Office. Maybe we can go and ask her there, after all it's only about two blocks from here. Who knows, maybe you'll run into some old friens while we're there."

For what years the two prosecutors had know each other, this had been the only time a sort of amicable aura had existed between the two... and one of the few times the fang and the whip weren't clashing against each other. As Franziska seemed to iron out a couple of binds in words, Howl had been at a loss of a witty response, his eyesight stuck to the floor, head rested in his hand, and his attention locked right onto Franziska. She strode over to the window, glancing out as he had done, and as he does when he is in his office. It's a peaceful thing, actually, to look out above the civilians and the sky line. There seems to be a moment of momentary security, viewing such a landscape. But that flashes and is gone before it becomes a required pleasure.

"I don't believe that it's any sort of a trap, though. I find it hard to imagine anyone wanting to put us in a situation like this on purpose."

"I would like to think that, but there are enough people out in the world that want people like us to suffer from who knows what. A couple of years ago, I worked on a case that dealt with a criminal that targeted prosecutors in means to kill them. While a conviction was handed, it just demonstrated that there are people with motive to do about anything." Howl stood, and ran his fingers on the front edge of Franziska's desk to find no residue on his finger, not that he expected to find anything. He pulled his glance to meet his partner's. "I told the detective to find any connections between Sheila and everyone related to the case in question because I firmly believe that if we can find that sore spot of relations, be it however small, we will soon find that this isn't a simple accusation of forgery. This is a case of bent feelings and vengeance. But," Howl interjected, voice gaining a little more ferocity. "it isn't our job to resolve the case; it is just to ensure the name of the Prosecutor's Office is pristine after this case, and that we convict a criminal. However, Sheila will not be an easy opponent to battle in court, and she will certainly push this case past that of an accusation in means to clear her name." He turned, and paced the floor, footsteps quieter than usual. "I know that this case must start as a forgery charge..." Howl rubbed his chin. "but it won't stay there. We'll need, in idea, two plans. One for should I be wrong, and it is simply a forgery case, and then another that looks further so if it does move on past such, we won't be caught off-guard without a back up." Howl shrugged. "Then again, that is just my tactic on how to work things. Since we are co-chairing, we can't use just one tactic..." He walked back to the front of Franziska's desk. "Those are my current thoughts."

After about ten minutes of breathing harshly, and regaining his breath, Adam stood up and faced Lana.

"So, are you ready to pay the Prosecutor's Office a visit? You know, to meet your clinet?"

Adam buttoned his jaket, and then walked to the door.

"Alright then. Let's go."

Adam walked alongside Lana for two blocks. Their destination oviously being the Prosecutor's Office. There, Lana would meet her future client. Adam would be meeting the same person, but to him however, she was the woman who's life will depend on the verdict he might hand down the next day. He was a bit nervous, but he didn't show it. Eventaully, after a 15 minute walk, they arrieved at the Prosecutor's Office.

"Sooo, how do we get in? After all, I've never set foot here in my entire life."

"Well, I don't know where the front entrance is. I don't know where security stuff is in here. I thought you knew, after all you were the Chief Prosecutor once," Adam said. He was a little anoyed. How could she not know how or where to get in? After all, she worked here!

Adam was anoyed. Lana worked here, but she didn't remember were the entrance was. As he looked around in frustration, he saw two people in a window. The first person he couldn't tell who it was. The second one, however, he could see as well as recognize.

(I've seen that person before.... What was her name...? Franziska von Karma...? I think I've seen her recently, but the question is 'where?'.)

Floyd Ambrose arrived at the residence of Dennis Young, carrying his file and throwing a cigarette away into the grass. Knocking on the front door, he prepared his badge. Dennis opened the door and Floyd smiled.

"Good afternoon. I'm Detective Floyd Ambr-" the door was shut in his face before he could finish. Floyd was taken aback, and knocked again. "I ain't telling you anything, pig! And I'm not going to that trial tomorrow. Leave me alone!" Shocked, Floyd leaned against the door. "Please, Mr. Young, I'd just like to ask you a few questions." There was no reply from the door at all. "Bollocks," Floyd muttered under his breath.

Dennis would not be speaking to him today. Floyd turned around and surveyed his yard, a disgusting amalgam of dead grass and random tires. For a mechanic, Dennis certainly looked the part. On the floor next to the door was a subpeona for an appearance at the trial tomorrow. Dennis had obviously declined it. Floyd knocked on the door once more. "Dennis Young?" Dennis answered. "What the hell do you want now?!" Floyd slipped the notice through the door. "You've been served." Making his way back to the car and driving back to the prosecutor's office, Floyd rubbed his temples. There was something going on with this case, but he didn't have the pieces of the puzzle yet. Maybe Sheila could fill in some blanks.

Franziska found herself faintly nodding in agreement with much of what Howl said. Perhaps co-chairing with this man wasn't going to be as bad as she expected? (She wouldn't dare admit that to anyone, though.)

Protecting the integrity of the Prosecutors' Office. . . the only way we will be able to do that is with a conviction. Even though Franziska couldn't quite discern her own conclusions of how to handle the situation she was in, it reassured her the fact that Howl was in the same boat.

Franziska maintained her position in front of the window, facing Howl. She nodded to indicate she understood what he was inferring. "I'll explain how I intend to approach this case in a second, but I have a few comments about your 'tactic'."

"First," She started, "how exactly are Ms. Sheila Axiom's relationships with the people involved in her previous case all that relevant? Her motive for forging evidence is obvious- to convict the defendant. I don't believe it is our place to be looking for the motive of someone else to want to accuse Ms. Sheila Axiom of forging evidence." Franziska closed her eyes and crossed her arms, concentrating on what she was saying.

"And second, since either scenario you presented necessitates the building of a case against the defendant, should we not make that our top priority at the moment? I suggest leaving any investigation into 'bent feelings and vengeance' for a later date." Her tone was stern, but not hostile. Franziska kept her eyes closed and began to tug at her sleeve, waiting for Howl's response.

Howl was quick to notice Franziska's pulling of her sleeve. He obviously step wrong somewhere, but he thought otherwise and continued, pocketing his hands.

"Relations are what incurs why Sheila would go through a forgery to protect the defendant. If we prove Sheila was protecting the defendant, knowing good and well that she presented forged evidence, then we have a case noting the crime and a motive, finished nicely with the defense attorney as our key witness." Howl then shrugged in admittance. "As for building a case, I believe that is what we are developing now; strategies and theories to strengthen the facts given to us, as well as presenting witnesses where we find fit."

After a while, Adam and Lana finally entered the Prosecutor's Office building. But there was another problem. Where was Shila's office? After a while of frustration and anoyance, they finally found a security guard.

"Excuse me, ma'am. My friend and I are looking for Sheila Axiom's office. Do you know where it is?"

(Please say yes, please say yes, please say yes! For the love of god, PLEASE say yes!!) Adam desperatly thought.
