Mr. Anonymous sighed... He figured he might as well stay with the heros since the evil side was in shambles, but then again, so were the heros... He wandered the base, looking around for anything interesting, he figured he should at least familiarize himself with the hero's base...

I let him down, Exo thought. Even considering take a life would have let my brother down. Benny...My brother. My perfect brother. Why did I get to live, while he had to die? How do I deserve to live when he doesn't? Bennie would never have even considered for one moment to take Steel's life. Why him...And not me?

Aria blinked against the wind, shifting her perch on the roof. She watched the supers go into their base and slipped off the edge of the roof, free falling until about a metre up from the ground, where she slowed her movements enough so she could land softly, without a sound.
Flitting over to the base, she looked up at the building, nerves coiling in her stomach.
I'm finally here...
Bending her legs, Aria shot straight up into the air. She overshot the roof slightly, and was forced to stumble a few steps on the roof before coming to a stop. Cursing, Aria cocked an ear towards the building below her.
They must have heard that...

"Steel? Oh, my God! Steel!" Exo responded. "You're finally awake!" She would have tackled him if she thought he could handle it. Instead, she started crying. She couldn't tell why. She usually wasn't that emotional.

Exo told Steel everything about the fight that he missed from her perspective, even how she was tempted to let him die several times.
"I'm sorry..." she said when she got to that part. Then, she concluded with how she ran back in the room.
"So, now you know everything," Exo said. "Please forgive my being tempted. I was stupid." In fact, I still am stupid.

Zarran slept
A young boy of five, looking out the window as his big bro and him mom screamed at each other. A man in an official uniform had brought him home along with a plastic bag full of pills. He could dimly make out the word drugs.
A ten year old boy opened the door. Two men were standing outside "Are you Zarran?" they asked "Yes" He said nervously. "Then" they said "we're here to take you to the orphanage." They grabbed at his arms, but he darted away. He hid behind his 15 year old brother, but Zavil said "Zarran, you have to go. Mum and Tom are getting married. Two kids are holding them back, and I need mom's help with my drug problem. You're a good kid, you'll get adopted soon." As they took him away, he knew none of them cared.
Hiding in the rafters, the 13 year old saw the matron running around looking for him. He stayed close to the wall and jumped out of the window. He was free. Later, when he was sitting on the roof of a house, eating a stolen apple, he swore revenge on the world and family who had abandoned him.

Mr. A walked the quiet hallways of his mansion, remembering the fun he used to have here as a child with his friends and family... Family... That's a word he had not heard in a long time... He decided he needed some shut eye to keep his minds sharp, as being tired often dulls the mind... He layed in his bed, his bandages, and suit folded neatly on the table beside him... His top hat on top of the folded suit... He slowly drifted off into sleep, remembering everything that 'THEY' had done to him...
Nathan walks the streets of <insert name of city here>... It's late... A black van pulls up next to him, the man in the window asks him "Are you Nathan Shade?" Nathan replies, "yes... Wh-" was all he could say before he found himseld passed out due to a tranquilized dart in his neck...
He wakes up, not knowing where he is, the room is padded, and bleach white, he looks at a door, leading to what seems to be a lab-like area, he peers through the small opening on the door, and seeing people in lab coats and armed men standing, walking, doing tests, mixing random assortments of chemicals, Nathan is confused... Men start to walk up to his door, he quickly runs back to where he woke up, pretending not to know anything, the two men walked into the room, "alright Subject A486, time to take your 'medicine", they each man grabbed one of his arms, he struggled but it did no good, they through him into a small glass room, and shut the doors behind him... A scientist stood on the other side of the glass and spoke to him, "alright Subject A486, see the pills in front of you? Take them, then I will record the results, and this when this is all over you'll be 'set free'... Nathan sighed, and swallowed the two pills, then blacked out... Not knowing what was going to happen to him...
3 Years have passed... Nathan had been taking the pills once a week, every week... The pills have given him some sort of strange power... He seems to be able to turn into a "ghost" for 1 or 2 seconds at a time... He recieved a small box with the words "Do not open until the time is right" written on them... He goes to sleep, waiting for the next day of boring manotany...
Another 3 years have passed... The weekly pill sessions have stopped, Nathan was getting worried... Then two walk into his room, they tell him "Nathan, your time has come to an end, your about to be 'released'. But not in the way you think..." the man began to laugh... Nathan didn't like it... He looked for the small box he had recieved... He opened it, it was a small cross, he put it on, then the two men came back... The two men were confused... "Wh-Where the hell did he go!?!" Nathan was confused... And then he remembered... His powers... He walked right through the men, and walked to the reactor room... He started ripping all the random wires he could find... Hoping to blow this place up, and all his memories with it, as he pulled one wire out, he heard the words "WARNING, CRITICAL ERROR DETECTED, RADIATION LEAK DETECTED, INTERNAL TEMPURATURE RISING, EXPLOSION IMMEMANT!!!" sound through the base... He laughed, and began running towards the exit... But before he could get there, he tripped, the cross flying off his neck and falling next to him. He cursed as he was not back to normal, just as he turned he saw a wave of flames flying towards him, he ran, grabbing his cross, and jumping out of the base, but his hair caught fire, and began to burn, he screamed in pain and agony... His face was being burned as he ran towards the nearest lake he could find... He jumped in and put the fire out... But the damage was already done, what was once a face was now a deformed, charred, head with two eyes and a mouth... His nose was unusable...
Mr. Anonymous quickly woke up, sweating and breathing heavily... "It was only a dream... It was only a dream..." was the phrase he kept repeating to himself... It was only a dream...

He had been taken in by an asassin family. They had taught him how to fight and defend himself, as well as how to kill. He had lived in relative happiness until he was 15
He had been practicing his fighting up in his room. That was what had saved him. He was in the middle of a imaginary battle when the whole house shook. Sheathing his katannas, he crept to the stairs, where his family stood. A man suddenly burst in and opened fire. What happened next was all a blur, but one thing stuck out in his mind. He was running up the stairs when a man tacked him and then gasped. It was Tom, his moms boyfriend. Blinded by rage and hatred, he struck out again and again. it was only when Tom was on his hands and knees, coughing up blood, that he realized he had been holding a knife all this time. And still he stabbed him, sliced him until he stopped breathing. He then tried to run out the window, but he didn't get far before he was shot.
He woke up in a police station, and for three days, was left alone. On the fourth day, a police officer came up to him and said "You got visitors. The family of the man you killed." A few minutes later, his mother and brother came into his cell. Xavil wasted no time in punching him. As he doubled over in pain, his brother yelled "Why'd you kill him? He never did anything to you." Cluching his stomach he hissed "What, apart from killing my family and orphaning me?" "They were killers. And he did' even touch them" "My bad, Xavil" "How do you know my name?!" Pulling his sleeve up to show a birth mark on his arm, he smirked at their horrified expressions. Xavil shifted forward, which was what he had been waiting for. Zarran grabbed on to his brothers shoulders and jumped, caching on to the air vent and crawling through it. He took his sweet time getting out. He waited until they locked the place down and opened it up again before running out. He smiled as he remembered the look on their faces once they realized who he was.

Just earlier that day, she and her brother, Ben, were playing in the field, sparring with their wooden trainers. Their mother called to them.
"Kids, time for dinner!" she called, clearly. It must have been years since she heard that voice, yet there was no way she could forget it. Both she and Ben ran towards the house.
"I'll race ya," Ben said, running. Exo easily caught up, running ahead of him only a few seconds later. She made it to the front door first, exhausted as Ben made it less than a second later.
"I can't believe you beat me," he said. "I was sure I would win this time..." They both walked in, holding hands. The smell of pepperoni pizza and flowers lingering. They both inhaled deeply. Then, the house shook. The last memory of her mother was of her screaming, and the last one of Ben was of him grabbing her. She fainted before she even knew what Ben was trying to do. She could only assume that whatever he did was what saved her life.

Blinking at the speed of the girl's arrival and departure, Aria silently followed her into the base, listening to the conversation between her and a man, before following her to the barracks and sitting on her familiar bed. She watched the girl tossing in her bed, a frown creasing Aria's innocent face.
This one seems to know me very well...that'll make it all the harder. I don't even know what she's called...or how long ago I left her.
She clutched at her short hair and groaned.
Amnesia...I thought it only happened in really bad superhero comics!

It was just a normal day. Ophelia sat in the art room, waiting for the bell to ring. She was an only child and lived with her parents. When the bell rang, she bolted out the door to her house. "I'm home!" she called as she opened the door. She looked around the house. Something didn't seem right. She went into her parent's room to find all the clothes and luggage gone. Shocked, she ran to the kitchen to see if her parents left a note, but there was none. She ran to the phone, but it wasn't hooked up. When she realized that her parents had left her, the accident happened.
((I know this is pretty bland, but I'm one of those people who characterizes as they go.))

The next thing Exo remembered was that she was covered with a strange liquid, and on top of something. She saw her mother lying next to her. Her chest wasn't rising and falling, and she was pale. Very pale. Exo reached out and grabbed her hand.
"Mom," she said. "Mom, wake up! Please, Mom." It was then she remembered her lessons in finding a pulse. She grabbed her mom's wrist, trying to feel the pumping in it. There was nothing. "Mom! No! MOOOOM!" Exo shouted. She was bawling. She rolled over, trying not to look at the body. Instead, she stared in the lifeless eyes of her brother. That was who she was on top of. Exo screamed. Everything went black.
"BEN! No!" Exo screamed, waking up with a jolt. She was in the barracks. On the bottom bunk again. She looked out the window. It was still dark out. It was only a dream, she tried to tell herself, but it was useless. That was what happened. Exactly how she remembered it. Tired as she was, she could not fall back asleep. She got out of bed and walked out of the barracks. She decided a walk around base would help clear her head.

He stomped up to his room. One time! He'd tried it just that once. Maybe twice. Ok, he did it quite a lot. But that was no reason for them to yell at him. He wondered why he was still here. Then, a he opened the door to his room, he remembered. His little brother. He looked so peaceful, curled up on his side. Xavil smiled, and whispered "Good night Zarry. Sweet dreams."
He was walking past the main bedroom when he heard his mother start arguing with her boyfriend. "Tom, you can't ask me to abandon Xavil! He needs our help." "We can't have two kids holding us back! one of them has to go." "Zarran then. He'll get a good home in no time"

Steel was lying on the ground, knocked out. Someone held a gun up to his head, and began to pull the trigger. Exo saw that the person holding the gun...Was her. *BANG!*
Exo woke up, drenched in sweat. She ran back to the hospital room where Steel was, only to find him in bed, sleeping. She watched him as her breathing started to slow down. She knew there was no way she could sleep. What would she dream next? She couldn't bear the thought as she just sat in a chair and watched Steel. There was no way she could sleep, and she wouldn't leave.

When Tom died, he was furious. What right did that kid have to take away his step father. When he went to his cell, he punched the boy "Why'd you kill him? He never did anything to you." "What, apart from killing my family and orphaning me?" "They were killers. And he didn't' even touch them" "My bad, Xavil" He was shocked. How did this murderer know his name? In response, the boy showed him a birthmark on his arm. it was Zarran! He leaned forward, but Zarran took the opportunity to escape. As he left, he couldn't help wondering. Was this revenge?

Jumping to the ground silently, Aria flitted after the girl, following her to the hospital room where she stayed, watching the man from before silently. Coming out of the shadows, Aria cleared her throat nervously.

Dies Irae woke up.
He was lying in a freezing room, covered by a white sheet. Slowly, he used his powers to rise up, and the sheet fell away. He wasn't wearing any clothes. He had no idea how he had come to be here, wherever here was.
As his eyes grew accustommed to the dark, he realised that he was in the base's morgue. He was appalled that the trained medical staff the base had hired had pronounced him dead. That damn mercenary, Zarran, had probably cheaped out on the medics. He was outraged, and wrapping the sheet around himself, floated up to Zarran's office.
On the way, several people stared at him, and one of the secretaries screamed in the lobby, but he ignored them all, until he finally arrived outside of the bosses office. He angrily knocked three times.

Carmen: ~D.I.G., outside torture room~
"A detour," Carmen repeated, deadpan. "You might want to go find another detour then, preferably one out of the way."
She gave Cole a firm push and passed Maggey to the direction of the maximum security center.

A few hours later and Cole still hadn't dropped anything significant enough yet.
Carmen sat rubbing her temples while Cole was a crumbled heap, still handcuffed, at against the wall to his cell. So far, Cole had started dropping things but it wasn't good enough. He was dropping information they already knew, probably on purpose, and names that were of little use at the moment. Names could be useful if they could link them up with powers and what that person did and right now he didn't seem willing to drop them.
If she wasn't starting to get irritated she could have found his guts admirable.
"Are you done yet?" Cole asked, very quietly, very hoarse. Maybe because of the work she had done on his windpipe.
Carmen straightened. "The rest or the torture?"
"The torture."
"What do you think?" He glowered in response. "I'd say we're pretty much done today as long as I don't hear anything else. Don't look at me like that, even I need a break once and a while."
"Because of how taxing it must be," he growled sarcastically.
Cole was a loud 'broadcaster' in terms of his emotions, that was for sure. Even with her mental shield up she was getting hit hard by the waves of blood lust that Cole had been sending their entire session. So, she decided, it might be worth a different approach. She reached for the folder she had asked one of the guards to bring earlier and began reading bits of it aloud, "Ethan Cole, age somewhere in the late twenties to early thirties, supe, power is camouflage of his body and anything touching his bare skin. Anything before your time in the resistance is nearly zip and you've been a general pain in the ass to the legion of darkness since your time in there. With your achievements I'm surprised no one's tried a suicidal rescue attempt yet."
"It wouldn't be suicidal. It's work."
"Really? Do you want to elaborate in great detail why you think so?"
"Was that just a lame attempt at getting information."
"Well, you can't blame me for trying." Carmen glanced at her watch and stood. "I'm done for the day then. See you bright and fresh tomorrow."
Cole didn't say anything until Carmen was almost at the door. "Carmen Rookwood, age twenty seven, supe, power is empathy." She kept walking. "Before the nuclear war she owned an up and coming bar named Cat's Eye. In university she was a psychology major, despite the fact she owned a bar she couldn't hold her liquor when it came to the hard stuff, and she used to own a dog named Stormie. She had a normal family, both parents and an older sister but the older sister was lost in a car crash. The parents were lost in the nuclear war and she almost committed suicide twice a week after the incident."
That made her stop. Carmen slowly turned to the man, eyes unreadable. "I wasn't aware the resistance kept trivial information."
"They don't." He had a strange expression on his face.
Carmen studied the man carefully. She could still feel the strong blood lust, anger, and loathing from him but now she felt something...odd mixed in. She couldn't place the emotion and it bothered her as much as Cole's declaration.
"I don't recognize you," she said slowly. "It's not like any of this information matters, none of it's a great secret, it's all small personal things. So then, how do you know something like that since unless you're somehow a telepath on top of a chameleon, I don't see how you would know anything like that."
And like that, that odd thing she had felt disappeared and was replaced with a petulant look. "Why don't you just use torture? You're fond of it."
Carmen's gaze lingered on him a moment longer, then she turned off her heel and exited the cell with a loud clank of the door.
Outside, she talked to one of the guards about sending a healer to Cole's cell to take of care of his fingers, properly. She'd break them over again and she'd repeat the process until they couldn't heal any more if she had to. In the meantime, she wanted a drink and some time to think about what she had managed to get out of Cole, both the things Resistance/Legion related and what he had said about her.
