Hubris, unable to do more than look over from where he stood, divided his attention between his entrapment around the licking flames and Migoto. One of the two mirrors that floated nearby them spun around to face Migoto, glistening despite the weak light.

'Calm down.. you are going to kill yourself at this rate.' Hubris thought, before finishing his trick. The mirror couldn't alter a person's mind or feelings, but it could cast illusions-- and this had to be something that would calm Migoto down.

A blinding flash burst from the mirror in Migoto's direction, and to any who looked at that light, their perception was replaced by the image of being alone in a field of flowers. It was the first thing Hubris could come up with, but he hoped it would work well enough.

Migoto succeeded in escaping from Yuui by the time Hubris' illusion was up. She began look around, eagerly trying to find her "foe." "Where did he go?!?" she said, totally confused. "He was right here!!!"

"The demon will be summoned. Normal weapons won't work very well on them...Unless they are aimed very precisely," Walt pointed out. "There is a spell I know that can get rid of summoned creatures no matter what they are, but I haven't used it in so long...I'd have to recite the whole chant." He turned to Nare. "Not all spells only require a couple words." He then addressed the rest of the group. "So, I'd hate to be a burden, but if my concentration is broken, the spell cannot be performed. I will need some protection..."

Hubris had to keep trying.

"Relax... this is all a dream..." Hubris's words echoed through her illusion. "Do not worry for the others, they wish to protect you... you are safe, and that in turn helps them more than anything else could."

After, Hubris turned to Yuui and glared, whispering "Dammit man! She's your sister, do something PRODUCTIVE to help her!"

Nadine stepped beside Walt and smiled at him warmly. "I'll protect you with my life," she vowed, putting a fist over her heart dramatically before turning her attention back to the roaring flames.

Walt felt heat rising to his face. He forced himself not to blush. Everyone here would do the same thing for me, he thought. So what if she says it? It's just what everyone else is thinking. He focused his attention back onto the chant, trying to remember each and every word. Even the slightest mispronunciation would render Walt useless.

"It's not my fault!!" Yuui replied, "If her father....." He hesitated and then cringed. The mere thought of Migoto's father filled him with disgust. He wanted to continue the sentence, but he didn't want to bring up some of Migoto's suppressed memories. "Y-You don't understand!"

Yuui scoffed, but figured now wasn't the best time to fight with anyone. He went over to tap the side of her head, which usually knocked her out, but it didn't work. He tried it a few more times, still nothing. He looked at his gadgets to see what he had that could help. He reached over and picked up a collar and put it around her neck and turned it on. When it was turned on, it put her in a trance and made her calm.

The fires twisted and spiraled within themselves, soon a shadow formed in the flames.

"Hey you guys see that?"

Saile peered through the cracks in between Hubris' mirrors.

"I think it's...."

*Crash*

Hubris' mirrors were pushed apart; ((Seeing as how he wasn't 100% focused)) A bull's head pushing through.

"It is!"

A minotaur pushed through, his flail spinning wildly...

"Begone!" Walt shouted. It wouldn't help, but that wasn't the purpose. He was just shouting in order to calm himself down. Then, he sighed and began chanting.

Nadine placed herself in front of Walt and raised her two hands, the dagger in her right and her other hand outstretched, ready to point whatever finger should the minotaur come close to Walt. Her face was a mix of concentration and ferocity as she readied herself for the inevitable attack on Walt.

Nare ran toward the minotaur, and was ready to cast a spell on it. "inbi-ouaahh!" Nare flew back and hit the ground a few times, bouncing. While he was bouncing, the book flew out of his hands, hitting Migoto in the shoulder. "What the heck?! Why did they... My book!' He thought, looking frantically around for his spellbook, not realizing where it was. (obviously) ((No hard feelings, right yuzikichan? :D))

The sword in Saile's hand felt like it was sucking the warmth from his body.

The joy was being taken.

"Heh, This minotaur is nothing..."

Saile lifted the sword above his head, It's black steel reflecting only the shape of the creature.

"now die!"

Saile bolted forward at the beast, his sword tangling in it's flail.

"Urgh!"

The minotaur pulled his left arm back...

((okay. :D)) Nare looked around, and saw it near Migoto. He snapped, and the book slid across the ground to him. While it was sliding, some rock (That he SWORE wasn't there before) tripped the book and made it hit Nare in the face. "Ouch! What the... oh well." He looked through his book. "T-T... This isn't... mine." He said, but the book looked like his. He got up and kept reading.

No. Salie! Move! I...Can't save him. Doing this chant is the only way... Walt thought as he stared at the beast, still chanting. As he chanted, he stepped forward, pointing his staff at the minotaur. Sorry, Salie...

"D-damn..." Hubris muttered, recalling his mirrors (including the two near Migoto and Yuui) back to his side. He hand't imagined something like this would have popped out of the flames, and so easily-- some sort of minotaur beast was the last thing he had expected had expected. Following what he knew was the best choice, he started taking note of the situation: he saw Nare off reading (Hubris resisted the urge to thwack him on the back of his head for what seemed like laziness), Saile caught by his own weapon, and Walt aiming at the beast and the entrapped Saile.

'Aiming at Saile...? Wait, is that something safe?? I-I would think Walt wouldn't do something to put somebody else in danger, but...' Hubris thought, trapped in his own indecision.

Saile's weapon was stuck within the chain of the flail.

He saw Walt walking behind him.

"Wha..?"

The sword Saile was holding started to shake, it felt like it had it's own life.
It's own soul?

The sword twisted and slashed through the chains. Moving of it's own accord but still holding onto Saile.

*Snap*

The sword was moved behind Saile; but by it's own accord.
The sword slashed up, slicing at Walt's staff.

*crack*

"Arrrrgh!"

Saile's arm was broken in two places. The sword had moved so quickly that Saile was still facing the minotaur while the sword jerked his body back and twisted his arm to parry the attack.

((The sword moved faster than Saile could react. Ergo is bones were broken))

Nadine's arm whipped upwards quickly, her dagger catching Saile's sword as it slashed at Walt's staff. The blow was so powerful that her arm was flung backwards and she staggered back a few steps before returning to guard Walt. She heard a sickening crack as Saile's arm broke.

Saile!

Torn with indecision, Nadine hovered between Walt and Saile.

I need to protect Walt to banish this thing...but Saile can't heal himself anymore!

Yuui stood in front of Migoto with his scythe ready. He thought of taking the collar off of her, but remembered why he put it on her in the first place. If she went all crazy about and enemy that wasn't even there, how would she respond to this one?

Walt continued chanting, even after his staff had been destroyed by the sword. I have to kill the minotaur...Before it kills him. Then I'll be able to repair my staff and heal. Please... He stared the minotaur in the eye as he chanted. Save him, Nadine. Don't worry about me. He hoped she could somehow tell what he was thinking as the chant was nearing its end.

Nadine looked back at Walt helplessly and saw the determination in his eyes. I'm sorry. She ran over to Saile, using her dagger to swipe at a huge fist aiming at Saile, but the dagger hardly left a mark on the beast's thick skin. In desperation, she picked up Saile's sword and stood ready over him.

That's right. She will always pick him... Walt thought, probably reading too much into Nadine's actions. He walked toward the minotaur, his chants getting louder and faster, but never frantic as he strode. The natural crescendo and accelerando just before the chant would end.

Unaccustomed to the heavy sword, Nadine struggled to lift it, just managing to parry a blow to her head. She saw Walt striding towards the minotaur out of the corner of her eye.

No! Stay back! she said frantically. Won't the spell work from afar?

This is a necessary movement for the chant to work, Walt thought, striding closer until he was right where the minotaur could slash at him. As it raised its arm, the chant stopped. Walt glowed white and leaped so high into the air that he was at eye level with the minotaur, which thrashed around as if knowing death was upon it. Then, Walt pointed his open hands at the beast's forehead. A beam of white light hit it. The minotaur moaned and disappeared as Walt fell.

Nadine abandoned the sword and flung herself into the air, catching Walt and floating gently to the ground. She walked back over to Saile and asked a question to them both.

"I'm fine..." Walt said, getting out of Nadine's arms. "Whoo. Forgot how much energy that spell takes." He went over to Salie and grabbed his broken arm, healing it. "Oof." Walt swayed a little. "Is that better?"

Probably, Nadine answered the question for Saile, grabbing Walt's arm and dragging him onto the floor. But you need some rest. She got back up and looked around at everyone, especially Migoto. We all do, she said pointedly to Hubris.

"Yeah..." Walt said tiredly. "But what about Nicholas? We can't just let him get away with..." He then looked at everyone. "Though he'll probably beat us all if we're tired. A spy-satellite, orbiting in the atmosphere, kept it's mechanical eye trained on the Earth below.
Above the group by over two-hundred miles, it's slow travel giving it purpose once again as it watched those below with an eager intent, borrowed from another, to be their sight.

Hubris flinched at Nadine's words and tone when she snapped at him. Still, his attention was to some unfinished business.

"This's all fine and dandy, and I would love to relax more than anybody right now, but what about that flame Nick left for us?" He asked, turning his gaze to the now diminutive flame. "Who's to say something won't crawl out again?"

Absentmindedly, Hubris's mirrors rotated around his back as he spoke. They almost seemed to be begging to their owner, as if yearning to be used again, of their own will.

The person had a black robe on, and he had black, strait hair, but didn't show any signs of having a weapon. "I'd advise you not to fight." The person said to everyone. "If you do, it will make this alot more painful then it has to be."

More adrenalin pumped through Hubris's veins at the sight of this new stranger. He felt the urge to get angry, the unease that is caused by resisting the 'Fight or Flight' instinct.

"Explain yourself-- the last thing we have the time for is one more to bite the dust." He said, more or less barking out the first few words in his anxiety. His mirrors kept spinning around behind him, slightly faster than before. This agitated state (very unusual for him, who was so naturally calm and cool) was a clear sign that Hubris was nearing his limits.
