Hubris finally got to his feet, and looked around. There was intense fighting going on a distance away, where he had ONCE been standing before that last attack sent him flying. He called his mirrors back to him, in their usual "halo behind his back" formation, and moved forward to get back into the fray once again.

His ears still rang, a buzzing right in the middle of his head lasting slightly longer than they should have. He made a note of getting his ears checked later once Migoto and Yuui brought him to their home-base.

A silent song echoed throughout the entire area, at a pitch higher than normal hearing could intercept. Cloaked from sight by the alteration of sound-waves, two entities ran the perimeter of the area, rushing to follow Hubris as well as intercept the fighting at a better location, invisible from sight.

((Aww, nobody got the joke, and by the way I'm not just finding ways to make Mark stupid powerful. I'm just playing him the way I intended him to be. So I apologize if I seem to be god modding.))

Mark hit the ground and rolled out of the way of the beam, causing the blood covered blades to fall out.

Sorry kid, your beams just won't work.

He opened his newly healed wings and flapped them just once, causing him to speed forward towards Walt.

Walt knew he only had time for a really short, really fast strike. It seemed every time he cast the beam, Mark dodged. So much for trapping him. So much for destroying his wings. What now? He got the feeling dodging from below would do nothing. Quickly, he leaped high into the air over Mark and made a shield push down onto the demon. Walt hoped that would be enough to knock him down.

Mark yelled before the shield pushed him to his knees.

The area around the group was transformed into a castle made of iron.

Heh.

The Furies emerged from fires that burn the tombs of those who remain, They rip the legs and the arms off of them and throw the flaming body parts at Walt, Hubris, Nadine, and Saile.

Noticing Walt's weakened state, Nadine placed a hand on his shoulder gently. You can stop now. Taking a step back, Nadine raised her arms, a wall of fire erupting from the ground to replace Walt's ice wall. The stench of burning flesh filled the air as the body pats being thrown were incinerated by the fire.

When Nadine put her arm on his shoulder, Walt realized just how tired he was.
"You can stop now." Walt nodded and stood back, slowly trying to regain his energy.
"Thanks," he said. He had been feeling overexerted. He would be lucky if he didn't die as soon as his adrenaline rush wore off. Being tired even on adrenaline wasn't good at all...

Hubris had, when things changed, surrounded himself with his mirrors and formed a barrier. When Nadine's defensive started, Hubris disengaged, returning his weapons to their standby just behind him. He quickly walked to his friends before heaving, and turning away to vomit. The sights and smells were too unpleasant, and Hubris felt very unnerved by the corpses.

'Did one of those caged things looked familiar... do I see Sylux as one of them??' He thought randomly once his stomach emptied its already bare contents. It was followed by a shiver that wracked his spine. 'Eych! Dammit, don't think things like that, you are just spooking yourself further... It's a nameless...thing, not anybody you know. Gotta stay calm... stay calm.'

Hubris dropped to his knees, and crawled a few feet away from his lost lunch before sitting down cross-legged, closing his eyes and trying to calm himself. His mirrors started to spin in a circle, starting fast and slowing down as he 'meditated'.
"Nadine... who is this guy?" He spoke, eyes still shut, hands on his knees.

Nadine turned away from the fire wall that she was forcing to extend flaming tendrils towards Mark and pain flashed across her face at the blunt question. Grateful for Hubris' eyes being shut, she swallowed before speaking. "He's my...he's a demon. My father." Turning stiffly, Nadine focused on the fire, trying to blink away the sudden spring of tears in her eyes. It was as if saying her father was a demon out loud had let it finally sink in. Despite everything, she had once loved her father. Suddenly realizing that Walt could still see her, Nadine cleared her throat and thrust her hands forward, the flames shooting towards Mark.

Walt knew that the flames would be useless against Mark. He said it himself. But her crying...His adrenaline rush came back with full force. He wouldn't let Nadine get hurt like that. He patted her shoulder.
"You don't have to fight him if you don't want to, Nadine. I can handle this," he said with as much authority as he could muster.

Withdrawing the flames, Nadine sighed, turning around to find herself face to face with Walt. She took a step back automatically before shaking her head to compose herself. No Walt, you can't. You're tired. She smiled weakly, very tired herself. I can do this, fire or none.

"Hey... Don't forget about me." Hubris said slowly, eyes still squeezed shut. "I am probably the most able-bodied among us, for the time being--" And he finished talking. It wasn't peculiar or anything, although the tone in his voice sounded as if he wasn't at the end of his speech. Hubris just didn't continue, remaining where he sat, as patient as ever, his mirrors finally stopping their slow rotation.

Only the most trained eyes would have caught the shifting of Hubris's hair in their gaze, as it slowly shifted on what seemed like its own accord. Unseen and unheard, the assailant's hand kept a loose grip through Hubris's mop of hair, paralyzing him where he sat.

Hearing the sarcastic thought float through Walt's head, Nadine's temper suddenly flared up and she grabbed Walt's arm. No! It may be difficult, but I have to do this! At least some of it... she finished weakly, her grip on Walt's arm softening.

Turning at the sound of Hubris' voice Nadine raised an eyebrow. And...? she prompted.

"Nadine..." Walt said, then stopped short. Hubris seemed to want to say more than he did.
"And?" Nadine asked. Something told Walt his friend wouldn't continue. And not because he didn't want to. He turned to Hubris.
"Who's there?!" he shouted, casting a stunning spell that went just over Hubris's head.

A heavy crack rang throughout the metal castle as the spell hit something and went ricocheting off in another direction. The air sparkled slightly as something appeared briefly, a thin-shaft of a metallic substance. It quickly traveled from where it swept the attack away downwards, before vanishing rather suddenly.

A quick breeze passed by Walt, and a single point in the air just behind him lit up like a star...

Alarmed by the sudden change in events, Nadine spotted the point of light behind Walt and immediately took it as a threat. Walt! she pushed him down with one hand, sending an unthinking small fireball towards the light.

As Walt was pushed down, he was sure whatever it was that the thing was going to do probably would only get Nadine, so he tripped her, hoping that if they were both down, whatever it was would resume aiming at him and ignore the angel. It was him who attacked it, so it wouldn't have any reason to try to kill anyone else. Except that fireball probably ticked it off...Walt cast a shield around Nadine just in case.

Landing on top of Walt, Nadine's breath whooshed out of her. She rolled to the side of him, her face flushed. Trying to stand, she met the resistance of the shield and sat back down, looking from Walt to Hubris with a sigh. Why do you always protect me? You haven't the strength for this.

((Was hoping Domaya could get some content in, but I hate waiting. XD))

The dot lit brightly before a blast of heat and flame enveloped the outside of barrier, a rumbling echo returning in the distance to answer the muted explosion that burst above Nadine and Walt.

As the explosion died, the residual dust and smoke quickly parted, a hidden form passing through it to somewhere on the other side of the shield.

"..." Walt wasn't sure what to say. Then, the explosion hit hard against his shield and it took his concentration to keep it from shattering. Whatever that thing was disappeared...The smoke and dust parted, and suddenly Walt couldn't tell where it was. There had to be a way to get the place set up so that thing could be seen at all times...
"What would you like me to do? Stand aside and watch as these things try to kill all of us?" Walt asked. There was something very fishy going on. He turned around, but wasn't sure what to do next. He closed his eyes...

The Furies had stopped throwing the body parts when they saw the explosion through the barrier.

Saile (who nobody bothered to protect, Mr. Barrier master Walt) was pulling himself off the ground. Staring daggers at Walt.

Hew thought to himself.

"get the fuck away from Nadine"

His bitter attitude was only worsend by the fact that it wasn't him that was protecting Nadine.

"Useless..."

Saile's mind was blank.

His sword wiggled in the bag and forced it's way out.

He took the sword and slashed at the barrier that protected the group from the Furies ((Not the one around Nadine))

"H-hey! What are you doing?" Walt asked as he felt himself weaken slightly with the barrier. Then, he realized who was swinging at it. Of course. He had forgotten to cast a barrier around Salie. Then again, he had assumed the thing would leave the man alone, as Walt had been the one who attacked it. Still, he mentally cursed himself. What kind of excuse was that? What if the invisible thing had decided to attack him? Salie could have been killed.
"S-sorry about that," he said, lowering the barrier for him. It was better than making it shatter. "Terribly sorry. I hope you forgive me." He was obviously concentrating on something. He cast a charm to allow all of his senses to enhance and shut his eyes tightly. Whatever that thing was, he would be able to sense it.

Saile didn't hear Walt, the only thing that was running through his mind was Nadine falling on Walt.

"Useless!"

Saile jumped towards one of the three Furies and cut it's head off.

Oh, this mortal has an attitude.

Mark flew over towards Saile.

After the barrier dispersed, a sharp, pointed jab landed on Walt's back. It was quickly followed by three more stabbing jabs before the unseen form slide around to Walt's front again. The whistle of its blade was dimmly muted as it lifted it up for yet another cloaked-attack.

((Laymans terms: Following Walt's release of the barrier, "Unseen foe" go stabby-stabby a few times with quick jabbing attacks at Walts back before going around him to prepare a frontal attack.))

Walt heard Salie swing at the fury, and heard Mark flying towards him. And that was the only thing that occupied his mind as he opened his eyes and was about to cast a spell on the metal around the demon, making it shoot up or down and block him. But then...Argh! He felt a sharp pain on his back. While Walt was too busy concentrating on everything else, the thing slipped past him unnoticed. Three more times, Walt felt that pain. Then, it stopped. He heard the whistle of the blade. Thank goodness he had heightened hearing. He cast a disarming spell at the invisible thing before him.

As Nadine saw Mark flying over to Saile and Walt being stabbed by an invisible assailant, she clutched at her head, torn between decisions. With a strangled yell, she flew to meet Mark in midair, colliding with him to force him away from Saile.

((Okay, so it's like 2:30 in the morning and I'm going to bed, right? Well, just as my head hits the pillow, I come up with a response to this. So, I fell asleep and wound up developing the idea in my dreams. xD So, now to actually post it.))
That's right, Nadine, Walt thought encouragingly. He needs you more right now. Or did he? Walt was barely hanging on by a thread. Blood was gushing out his back. He barely managed to concentrate long enough to cast the simplest of charms. Then again, it wasn't like a demon was charging at him and it wasn't like he couldn't cast any spells at all.
Still, he was...A little angry, jealous, even resentful. All those about his own friend. When it came down to it, Nadine would always choose Salie over him. Granted, those feelings weren't very strong. In fact, they were slight enough that he could just let them go, as always. But this time, he had to think hard. He needed his adrenaline just to stay alive. To be able to help everyone. And his feelings for Nadine weren't enough.
Nadine, I want you to tune out my thoughts at all costs after this, he thought. Then, he forced himself to feel all those things. Not just the twinge of them he felt. No, that wouldn't be enough. He forced himself to feel anger, jealousy, and resentment all at their extremes, trying to channel them at his enemy. Subconsciously, he started curing himself as he waited to see if his disarming charm worked.
((What do you think? One of the longest posts I've done throughout this whole RP. xD))

The softest sounds could be heard about 5 feet ahead of Walt. It seemed to get louder the further away it got, until finally, the full fledged skittering of something metal on the stone rang ahead, slowing down. A rapier immediately became visible, spinning one last time before coming to a standstill, the blade's unusual composition shining slightly.

A gust of movement from in front of Walt, and then the rapier suddenly was swept away across the floor. From low to the ground, it seemed to be propelled forward, before whatever grasped it righted itself and brandished it once again, the blade suspended in what looked to be empty air. It almost instantly faded out of sight again.

Hubris remained where he was, still under whatever spell it was that the hand upon his head was casting. If his ears had been ringing before, then now it felt as if somebody was setting of an earthquake in his head, a painful resonation coming from deep within his skull. He couldn't move, and couldn't talk, with his eyes still shut he was also blind; and now he was starting to lose focus. The edges of his senses, of everything, were beginning to grow fuzzy, and he was starting to no longer think straight.

'...what is this? I-I think I'm losing... consciousness... someone h-hel...p...'

"Okay...I don't have time for this," Walt said with a menacing tone as he cast a shield around himself and purposefully charged straight toward Hubris, knocking away anything nearby. Then, he leaped up and removed the shield from around him, casting it straight down at the invisible thing just behind Hubris. Once he made contact with the wall, he bounced off, gathering all the light around him. He cast it all at Mark, knowing full well he might hit Nadine, too. Also knowing that it wouldn't hurt her as long as it didn't get her in the eyes.

Taking the opening, the unseen swordsman gave Walt a full-body tackle, knocking them both down to the floor, where the hidden assailant began to try and pin his foe underneath his arm and sword. His invisibility slowly began to fade, revealing an outline...

Nearly completely trapped within Walt's magic barrier, the unseen force resisted just enough to maintain the slightest contact with Hubris's head. The longer that struggle took place, the more strength the unseen being accumulated to overpower the barrier.

...to overpower the barrier, just like before.

Hubris stirred just slightly, still unable to freely move. He could feel that the trick no longer was forcing him under, and was slowly losing its hold over him. He kept trying to mentally and physically break free...

Walt fell to the ground hard on his back. He felt the metal and the arm pinning him down. He noticed the outline forming, so he breathed fire at it in an attempt to force the invisible thing off him. No more bull. He'd do whatever it took to get everyone out of there alive.

Saile blocked an attack made by one of the Furies by cutting it's arm down the middle.

"How about we..."

Saile stabbed the third and final Furie in it's head and slammed it onto the ground.

"Have an Animus Proditor?"

A what mortal?

"A soul betrayer fool!"
Saile slashed at Mark, who in turn grabbed Saile's arm and flung him at Hubris.

A fool am I?
Saile stabbed into the ground with his sword before he reached Hubris and he stood up.

"We wager our souls in a series of three battles, If I win your soul is mine; If you win my soul is yours."

And what would I do with the soul of a mere mortal?

"I used to be an Angel, Imagine the amount of power the light-bringer would give for it."

Power you say?

And just as Mark bent forward to shake his hand Nadine crashed into him and all three of them were gone; The light beam (with no target) flew onward and struck into the now weak castle wall.

The castle fell to the ground.

"Nadine!" Walt screamed as Nadine, Mark, and Salie disappeared. He was livid now, electricity shooting from the edges of the shield to the center of it, shooting straight at the invisible thing that was touching Hubris. As the castle started to crumble, he let the shield around the invisible thing down and jumped to Hubris, casting a shield around the two of them. The castle around them collapsed, and it was only thanks to his anger that he was able to keep the shield from breaking.
"Are you the gents who travel with Salie?" some random stranger asked.
"Yes," Walt said. "And who would you be, good sir?" He wasn't able to keep the desperation he felt out of his voice.

((Not gonna lie, I had this all written before Lida cut me at the last second, so I had to rewrite the first two parts. I hope you do not mind the slight godmod, but I do not intend to let one of my characters die from electrocution just yet. ^^;))

The flames dispelled the illusion of invisibility, the scorching heat burning the air and silencing whatever magic had been working remotely on the swordsman. He reared back instinctively, blocking the heat with the heavy cloth on his arm. He quickly chased after Walt, and angrily threw a punch with his other arm, the rapier-held hand, the hilt guard still heated from the flames while he seeked to extinguish the man who tried to roast him with a strike.

Adam's stoic gaze was one seething with intended payback.

Simultaneously, the unseen Eve had finally pierced Walts barrier just as it was dropped. The sudden burst of electricity coursed through her, dissolving her invisibility. Her helmet seemed to absorb the majority of the electricity as it crackled with power, preventing the energy from running rampant through her body.

With a harmonic peal, both her body and the air surrounding her seemed to vibrate, and the built up energy returned to the earth, jumping straight from her helmet to the surrounding ground.

As fast as a snake, she clamped her hand back onto Hubris's head with her steely grip. Ignoring Walt next to them, she turned her unseen gaze to face the oncoming angel, and observed for two...

The 'observer' continued to survey the area and all damages. Now that the castle had returned to ruin, he could use the satellite to continue spying upon the world below. However, when Eve's transmission came through, and the image of the angel came to it, it immediately paused all prior processes, turning nearly all its attention upon the golden entity.

"...so the angels truly do exist in the outside world..."
Immediately, it sent all of the connected stations a new message. It detailed further the level of threat that the local entities posed, not to just Eden, but all the local area. The final message was that of an authenticated self-preservation initiative:

In order to fully preserve both the world as a whole, and all Eden facilities, the direct command for initiating Land Erasure has been given to a higher power for a single choice. Updates shall ensue...

Jacob had been sitting behind his desk when the message appeared above him. A holographic screen appeared, with a single face on it. The face was very youthful, of indeterminate age or gender, and bare of all blemish, hair, or color; the person held a placid expression, and began to speak, its words coming from the hologram itself.

"Bel Jacob..." It said, while smaller screens appeared before them in the air. "Priority has been given to the location of UNITS: MARTYS-001 and AMARNA-004. High risk bodies have been detected within the area, giving way to the possible risk of global saturation. The current situation follow that I dictate the events as quickly as I can, starting with the details pertaining to the detected threa--"

"Enough." Jacobs cold gaze betrayed his calm, soothing expression. He folded his hands before his face and put his elbows on the desk before him. "I have had my eye upon the situation. I can easily assume that the danger has been estimated to be... substantial enough that my word has become the singular deciding factor, yes?"

"That is correct."

"Well then. I see no reason to hesitate further." Jacob leaned back in his chair and gave a wide grin. "You mentioned that a Martyr Unit was there, yes? If I remember correctly, that unit's name was Eve..." At the mention of the name, specifications regarding Eve appeared on yet another holographic screen in the air. "...can you have her attempt a repair of the neural link that the Aranmula-000 has? I see no reason to keep the prototype if we can collect the mental and physical data stored within his brain."

Jacob stood up, his chair pushed back by the sudden movement. "Do it. Do it both. I want Land Erasure trajectory calculated and launch initiated at the same instance the Martyr Unit completes rewriting-- and any nearby satellite will do. Such a situation requires... delicate reflexes."

The face on the screen shifted slightly, before closing its eyes. "...it shall be done, Bel Jacob."
All the holograms faded in sequence, until the air was free of digital clutter. Jacob sat back down into his chair with a sigh.

The room was eerily quiet. It unnerved Jacob a little. He felt anxious, but kept his composure and remained where he sat, patiently waiting.

He stopped dead in his tracks as he saw Adam appear out of nowhere.

Ubrig's aged face looked to age a hundred more years, his eyes black with rage.

...You're the reason Mayoi is so sad...

His mind focused only on Adam, as far as Ubrig was concerned Walt, Hubris, (and the invisible Eve) were not there.

Ubrig outstretched his hand, the blood from the three slain Furies were drawn to him and it swirled around his arm.

I think it's time you know pain.

"So it was you two all along," Walt said. He saw Eve clamp her hand back on Hubris's head and felt his anger flare up again. "You guys should have learned from the first time!" He cast a shield between Hubris's head and Eve's hand, then he made a sand wave hurtle towards Eve in an attempt to bury her. Or that was the perception. He was actually just planning on distracting her...
