The knight's pace increased to a run. It held the shield-remnant close to itself as it approached Walt.
At halfway the distance, the armor took on a faint glow. It was unseen, but something was happening and it made Adam's face to stir slightly.
As the knight closed the gap, it held the makeshift weapon across it's chest and readied to lash out.

Nadine's search was quickly responded to as a vast wave of emotion came from the far corner of the building. It wasn't normal, an amalgamation of purest fear and anger devoid of even a shred of coherent thought. It forced itself onto her immediately, savagely.
At the same time the insides of the schoolhouse took shape, dissipating void relenting to reveal what seemed to be, not a school, but a home. The insides of this house, although only slightly distorted, could be familiar only to one.
Suddenly, a mental cry rang out amidst the turmoil. 'NADINE!!'
There was a door straight ahead, and from the other room, sounds of violence rang out; there was the audible swish of a blade. All too quickly, it stopped, and everything was quiet.

This is...
An all too familiar cry of her name made Nadine recoil again, eyes wide with confusion and panic. All coherency on where she actually was went out the window in that brief moment, and she hastily took steps towards the sounds of violence that had issued from what was the living room. Charmagne! Breathing heavily, she broke into a run, grabbing hold of the doorframe to the room to stop herself suddenly as she reached it.

Adam flinched.
Despite his unconsciousness, he stirred within the armor once again, and for that brief moment, the entire suit of armor paused, the luminescence emanating from it flickering. It was literally for a millisecond, and just as abruptly as if froze, it was back in full dash and glow.
Despite everything, Walt's words had hit home. But it wasn't enough.
He was on Walt within moments, and just as quickly, the razor edge of his shield was swinging toward Walt's head.

It was all there, almost perfectly from Nadine's memory.
Several figures lay along the floor: a women, a teenage girl, and two younger girls. They were all still and before them, a man. He held a longsword in his hand, and it was still freshly dripping with blood. He turned around to meet Nadine's gaze, and his eyes...
The eyes were cold, genuinely of a killer. There was nothing loving about them, and every second that passed, their evil intensified. So, too, did the waves of raw emotion return and increase their ferocity.
Swarming feelings that were trying to force their way into Nadine's head.
Rage.
Fear.
Hate.

There were people who needed his help.
But who should he help?
Walt? or Nadine?
Perhaps both?
Saile mentally directed his echo (Who at that point was ignored by any attacks) to help Walt.
He himself unfolded his wings and rushed to Nadine.

The Echo took out it's sword, it had no powers but it knew one way to help Walt.
It cut Walt (just a little) on his right shoulder, and pressed his had to Walt's skin before he could retaliate.
The echo turned to it's basic energy and went into Walt, giving him a moderate amount of energy.

"Ow. Hey..." he protested, but then the Echo disappeared inside him and he felt himself get stronger. He then smirked at Adam.
"You can't defeat me. Even when you and Eve were fighting me at the same time, I was able to hold my own," he said, hoping to stir more emotion with the mention of Eve.

When Walt spoke, the knight shuddered. The eye turned upward toward Adam, who's face was scrunched in strain. Briefly, it flitted between Adam and Walt several times, before disappearing once again into the crystal armor.
Holding the shield out before him, Adam took a new stance. It was low, with a strong center of gravity, and the remnants of the shield were held out at an unusual angle, counterbalancing himself as he leaned back in his crouch. Suddenly, the glow of the armor took on a new fervor, and as if blessed with new life, the cracks running along the armor filled in and disappeared. Even further it went as the ruined armor rejuvenated itself, and with each passing moment a tiny fragment suddenly regrew itself, slowly restoring fractions of the armor. Only the shield remained unaffected in disrepair.
A red smudge could been seen on the surface of the chestplate, the faint reflection that was disrupted by the luminous aura cast from the crystal armor. It would occasionally move, simultaneously shifting with the twists and turns of the ruined shield. And it moved and looked, surveying what it could.

Before any of the two could pass the doorway, a strong howl came barreling through the doorway, rippling through the air and forcing anything in it's path back. It didn't have the same sting as the other sound-based attacks, but the effect was all but absolute: total rejection through the entrance.
Eve wasn't going to allow them easy entrance.

The figure of Mark took a slow few steps toward Nadine. He held his blade out at his side, but the gritting of his hand clutching the hilt was fully audible.
Cloaked by her own illusion, Eve merely waited within the room and watched Nadine's struggling with a doll's absent stare.
Mark broke into a grin, toothy and wide, and raised the sword above his head as he kept on his slow approach.

It was just about big enough to cover him and Saile, so he pushed forward, albeit very slowly.
"We. Must. Persevere!" he shouted amidst the confusion.

Walt saw Adam shudder and his face scrunch up, the eye disappearing...He smiled slightly. Alright. Looks like Adam's going to get his control back. This battle is as good as... Then, Adam took a new stance, and the armor glowed even brighter, repairing itself. ...FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU- Walt thought. It took a large explosion to destroy just that one chunk of armor! And now it's reforming...The only way to stop that is to destroy it completely, but... He took a good look at the armor. I could turn it into a bomb if I can get close enough to touch it, but that would blow Adam to pieces! I can't do that! He's going to die, true enough, but...Not like that... Walt then looked at the shield fragment. I can, however, cause that to explode. Then he'll be weaponless and some of the armor would be destroyed...but I'd have to get in close for that to work...Of course, there is one other option...I can make my own explosion. Walt looked up to the sky, seeing the fireball come nearer. I need to finish this fast so I can get to the others. There's no time to think about this. Quickly, he shot a fireball at Adam, and just before it would make contact, he caused it to explode, hoping that would at least stall the recovery process.

The explosion caught the knight off guard. As the ball detonated, the glow of the armor cut off immediately, and briefly, the strings emerging from his back faded away. The air surrounding the dying blast became hazy, until the smoke cleared and the embers faded.
The knight's armor was unscathed-- Adam's exposed face was not so lucky, his hair singed and cheek seared from the heat --yet the ominous glow that accompanied the sudden rejuvenation was flickering, pulsing bright and dim in a struggle to return. He was completely still, almost statuesque. The reflection of the shield was perfectly clear in the unilluminated chest plate of the armor, as was the red eye, squarely beneath the grip on the backside. It seemed stunned, as it was unmoving in the reflected image and lazily half-open.
Finally, after a moment's pause, the strings reappeared. The entire knight shuddered and was in motion, focusing more into readjusting itself back into it's low stance again than in his opponents.

A myriad of gleaming red eyes met Flux and Saile. Along the walls, the floor, the ceiling. They followed their every movement into the darkened room. Situated at the center of the room was Nadine. She watched Saile and Flux enter wordlessly, her eyes faintly glowing red in the overall murk of the building.
All at once, the pressure forcing itself against Saile and Flux died away and the doors slammed shut all their own, sealing the room.
((For the record, I am not controlling Nadindi's character in the least. At all, even. Consider everything, and do the math. XD))

Mark caught fire and erupted into an inferno. His screams were otherworldly, almost echoing inside Nadine's head. His sword clattered to the ground as he staggered toward Nadine. His features were almost entirely engulfed by the furiously raging flames, so when his face suddenly changed, it was subtle.
Eating away at his body and flesh, the fires finally parted enough to show Raidou's visage as he raised an arm accusingly at Nadine. Rasps of a fire-choked voice escaped between the snapping of the embers:
"...mur...der...er..."

He could attack the eye, although it probably would just reform somewhere. Maybe if he could stab it? Hm...Then again, he could destroy Adam's weapon, leaving him unarmed, so the only advantage he'd have would be his armor. If that stunned the eye like the last explosion did, then he could use one of the shards to stab it, rather than conjuring another air sword to do it, saving some energy. Then there was the third option, which was by far the riskiest, but if he succeeded, whoever was controlling Adam wouldn't be able to anymore...Hopefully. He didn't know when he'd have the opportunity to get in close again and looked up to the sky, as if trying to gauge if he had enough time.
Destroy his weapon first. You know you don't want to do that unless you absolutely have to, he thought. He used a summoning charm on the crystal shield fragment to pull himself in at an alarming speed. Once it was within reach, he stopped the summoning charm and touched the weapon, changing its chemical composition to turn it into a bomb, then he cast a blow back charm on himself, forcing him out of the way of the explosion.

As he shambled forward he stiffly raised his arm, a blackened handgun in his grip. Without hesitation, the gun was pointed toward Nadine. His arm shook unsteadily as if just holding it up was a great exertion. With slow, sickening cracks he curled his finger around the trigger.
"...you are... responsible... you killed me...."

If you must know, I did it order of who I remembered first, regarding would care more: DoMaya WAS the one threatening me with takeover merely two days since I last posted, Lida was around but I know is not so impulsive, and Apollo was AWOL, so may or may not have cared at all at the time.
To be honest, I had seriously contemplated going Alphabetically, but told myself that the order wasn't important. GEE, WASN'T I IN FOR A SURPRISE?))
The chair erupted with a greater force. Raidou was sent airborn, only to crash into a wall before landing heavily to the ground. The flames spread off his crumpled body, eating at the wall where he had hit. The burning shards of the chair also started to ignite the room as they scattered along the floor and walls.
The fallen form was back on it's feet. The skin on it's face and hands were more than burnt, they were almost completely seared away; in spots, bone peeked through what was left of the flesh.
"You let me die..." Whispered Raidou's voice, barely identifiable.
The blazing figure shambled forward, pieces falling off his frame as he walked.
"It's all your fault..." Followed Mark's. The voices no longer seemed to be coming from the figure, but all throughout the room.
With a sickening snap, the head of the figure fell off, nothing more than a burnt skull. The flames on the figure had all but gone out, and the entire body was nothing more than a crisp cinder in the shape of a man.
Cracks ran across the featureless shape, and more pieces fell away.
"Nadine... why did you let him kill us?"
It was hollow, and someone was inside. Someone smaller than the large, burnt-away figure that cocooned her and was slowly falling away to ash.
"Nadine..." Said Charmange. "Why...? Why?!"
The flames continued to spread along the walls. Yet, for all the burning inside the house, not a peal of flame or waft of smoke left that sole room...

The Nadine look-alike gingerly walked toward Saile and Flux. A smile spread across her face, and she motioned to them invitingly. One hand was behind her back, and in it was a dagger, gripped tightly.
The red eyes lining the room swiveled constantly, giving the appearance that the walls of the room itself moved. Very quickly, the door was sealed over by additional eyes, until no trace that a door had been there was left. All four walls looked exactly the same.

The explosion was preempted by a sudden surge in the glow of the armor.
Adam was enshrouded by the blast. It engulfed him and sent debris flying in all directions. Fragments of the crystal armor tumbled down from above.
The air cleared quickly, revealing he was still where he was last standing. The shield, as well as the majority of the armor around the chest and hand, were all gone. What was left-- the back plate and leggings --flickered a weak illumination. A brief moment passed, and the glow died out. Adam collapsed where he stood, onto dry dirt.
Dry dirt, discolored compared to the blood-soaked mud of the rest of the ungodly land. That dry patch was large enough to have been the blast radius mapped out. It did not remain, and soon faded away to 'normal', as if a veil was placed back over the spot.
Adam lay silent in the mud, and all was still.

Cold to the touch, his skin was as pallid and clammy as ever. Yet, the truth was that he had been only barely, if at all, of better health, even before the first explosions and after Walt's energy draining of his energy. No man in his condition should have had the strength to fight, much less stand, and by appearances alone, he had seemed to not have changed much.
Adam's pulse was weak. And, slowly but surely, weakening.

Walt entered into a dreamscape nearly identical to the world back outside. Ruined buildings, the far off sounds of war, and fires decorated the scene. Shockingly enough, though, the peacefulness this dream held contrasted immensely with the nightmare out in the real world.
Where blood rained down from a blackened sky there, here was the stage for blue skies and a serenity that presented itself in the smallest of packages: the grass emerging from the rubble' children playing carelessly on toppled rocks and buildings, oblivious to the devastation; and birds and rabbits that were brave enough to live on amidst the fighting humans in the streets.
And there were soldiers. Men and women, dressed in military garb, continuously running to and fro along the streets of the city, shooting and fighting unseen enemies. Each one held out empty hands, as if wielding a gun; there was something humorous about them, mocking real violence with pantomimed shooting and falling dead. If one fell, they were immediately carried off by doctors, around a bend and out of sight, only to reemerge moments later, rejoining the "fight".
This place was the ultimate fusion of opposing ideals, of war and peace all at once, within a single dream.
'...and I am a deserter, to my people and my honor.'
A voice stood out among the sounds in this city. It came from the direction down the main road, coincidentally where a very familiar schoolhouse resided. An adult figure could be seen amidst children who played in the schoolyard.
