Quin thought about the words for a moment before pulling out the pouch of gold, holding up one coin, pouting at it. "Gold coin...have you been a Larcenian this whole time? I'm hurt! Oh, look greenhorn, my money asks, 'what the hell is a Larcenian? I'm gold!' I'm a mercenary the last I checked. What do countries and their petty squabbles mean to me? No a thing. The only reason I'm in front of you as apposed to behind you...is that these Larcenians pay a lot better. I do not even know what you are fighting for, Xero. Though...if I had that pretty little thing beside me, I would fight left and right as well. What is her name...Chelsea?"

Xero shifted into a battle stance. "How dare you...! I fight because I want to defend her!" He pointed his sword upward. "I want to defend everyone... and I don't care if you know what you're fighting for... I'm fighting because the Larcenians are trying to destroy the other countries! Including my hometown... and hers too!"

Quin snorted softly, shaking his head, drawing out his spell book. "How quaint. You fight to protect what? Some dirt, some houses? This is how the world is. There are the conquerers and the conquered. In this time, in this place, might...is right. So if you are going to draw that sword against me...I best hope you kissed that Princess of yours goodbye. You will not be seeing her again in this life time. Know also, greenhorn...if you loose, I am duty bound to alert the others here. They'll find your camp...and the others."

"Nngh!" Xero thought for a second. If I let him go, he'll alert them anyway. I can't trust him! "Ha. You're on, then..."

Xero quickly shifted from view, and 'invisibly' dashed towards Quin, shifting around him and attempting to slash at his back.

Quin seemed only defending himself half heartedly the entire while. It was not under Xero came close enough to him that Quin showed his true cunning with the magic at his finger tips- hot white flames erupting from his body, it seemed, scorching the near by grass and trees to a char in a contained flame. Quin chuckled, darting to a different location quickly, his good ears listening for the slightest noise. "Tsk, tsk, greenhorn. Did you honestly think I would be that easy to destroy? I can use magic in ways most have only imagined. When you're dead, they might even allow me to have that Chelsea of yours. Do not worry Greenhorn, I'll treat her well," he chuckled, egging Xero on. He did not mean a word of it, but he realized that Chelsea was a sore spot for Xero and if he pushed at it enough, the fighter would eventually succumb to foolishness.

"...!" After hearing the last part, Xero flared up in utter rage. "How dare you!!" He dashed right up to Quin and slashed as hard as he could, knowing he could at least get one good shot in.

Quin grinned as he watched Xero charge at him. He stayed until the very last moment before moving. He received a deep slash across his arm, but managed to get a good punch at Xero's chest, electricity behind it, just enough to shock him. Quin knew speed was on Xero's side, so if he could just slow him down, Xero would be like a sitting duck.

"Urk!" Xero felt the punch hit him, and he fell over, almost unable to move. "Why... you..." He tried to move, but found it extremely hard. He saw that his sword had flown away as well. "...S-Shit."

Quin, for once, held no smile in his face as he towered over Xero, a fireball begging to form in his hand as he pointed it at Xero. "You fought well. But, it seems I have won. At this distance...I will kill you with one shot. Rest in peace, Greenhorn."

"..." Xero found no words; he couldn't even hit him at this rate. It seemed like it was over until a piercing voice filled the air.

"No!" Chelsea was seen dashing up the hill. "Don't hurt him!" She stood directly in front of him.

"Ch-Chelsea..." was all Xero could say.

Chelsea looked defiantly at Quin. "I won't let you hurt him!" She took a defensive stance, ready for if he attempted to attack her.

Quin stood there motionlessly, his humorless eyes glaring into Chelsea. For a moment, it looked as if some devil had crept its way inside of him. It looked like he would attack her. He brought his hand so close to her face that the heat from the flames was reddening her face.

After a tense few moments however, the flames disappeared and Quin chuckled, patting Chelsea's cheeks softly. "Alright, alright...I understand. It seems...the victory goes to the challenger, Chelsea. I shall have you know, my dear Lady, I have never struck a woman in my life and hope to die never having done so. I have no choice but to forfeit. Come, it was but a friendly match," he insisted, putting a hand out for Xero. "I will tend to your wounds once I get you back to your home camp. Then I must be going back to my duties here."

Chelsea 'hmph!'d, and helped Xero up herself, giving him a Vuluneary. "I'll take him back myself, if you're just going to help these cretins," she said as she helped Xero back, sticking her nose in the air childish-like so her dislike of Quin was plainly seen. "Are you alright?" she asked Xero after they got out of earshot.

"Yeah, I'm alright..." Chelsea, however, then rounded on him.

"You know it was foolish to do that!" She stared at him, looking serious. "He was stronger than you, he was even a war veteran, from the looks of it!"

"I..." Xero looked down. "I'm sorry."

Chelsea then smiled, at last. "... Apology accepted. Besides, we've all had our stupid moments, and I had to pay you back for helping me out of the castle."

"But, Chelsea... we need to pass them to get into the city."

Chelsea stopped dead in her tracks. "...Oops."

Quin watched them walk away, waving at them playfully from his spot back with his beddings. He knew he would see them soon enough since he stood between them and their destination. He sighed, thinking back to the fair Chelsea. True, she had obviously snubbed him, but Quin was determined to make this one work! Granted, no time had it worked in the past, but, surely, between him and Xero, Quin was the obvious choice! Quin chuckled to himself, beginning to day dream about his lovely Chelsea. Quin despite his sadistic and sarcastic personality was a pure romantic at heart and fell in and out of love easily.

As they approached, a slew of stones fell in front of Chelsea, Quin appearing, juggling a few stones, in a strange show of talent. "Why...good evening travelers. It is rather late to be attempting to sneak through a heavily armed and guarded camp, I would think. Was this your place,Your Highness? I would think so. Only a woman as wonderful as beautiful and charming as yourself could come up with such a wonderful plan! I think it is brilliant! Princess...I...I would like to make you an offer, if you should be willing to hear me out. I can guarantee you and your group safe passage through this camp!"he offered, looking extremely hopeful, his face lighting up, childishly.

Chelsea stared him down, the fireball growing ever larger, until she felt a hand on her shoulder. She turned and saw Xero, and then turned back to face Quin. She dispelled the fireball. "If you're going to help us, then do so. If not, the stand aside and let us pass. I won't ask again." Her childishness shined through once more.

Chelsea didn't react to the pat on the back, and instead walked past him and to the city. Xero followed, and asked, "Hey, Chelsea, what are we going to do here anyway?"

"Here? Nothing." Chelsea kept on walking. "We've already rested not too long ago, and it's best to gain as much footing as we can before the sun rises. Moltalir is not far from here."

"I see..." Xero quickly followed, after making sure that Jenna and Thomas were following as well. "Well, do we need to restock on anything?"

"No, of course not. We've had easy battles so far, so I figure we're pretty safe."

"...If you say so."

"You... want to tell us your past, don't you?" Chelsea looked over at Xero. He nodded.

"Yeah... I guess it's time after all."

He took a deep breath, and continued. "I... don't remember much about my past. I do remember that six years ago I arrived in Arsenia. I've never seen my mother or my father. I've had dreams where it would seem like they appear, but are they real or are they figments of my imagination? Even I don't know. I can't even remember my birthplace!" He sighed. "But, I've never seen my parents, or any of my family, really. I do somewhat remember that my father was a king, and I guess that made me royalty at the time. ... Which explains why I'm always addressing royalty so highly. But sadly, that's all I remember. ... Ugh, it hurts to think about it."

Xero stood up. "... We have to go, then." He walked on with Chelsea and the others, determined to reach Moltalir. It wasn't long before they started climbing up a mountain, the country right ahead of them.

(I know this is kinda pushing it, but, another Xero/Chelsea SC? Kinda important for what I want accomplished.)

Xero and company finally got into the city, but Chelsea dragged him aside for a moment. "Eh?"

"I don't trust that Quin person at all," said Chelsea. "I think that we both should steer clear of him."

"You think?" said Xero. "I don't trust him, myself, after that fight..."

"... Xero. I want you to protect me," said Chelsea. "I... really don't like the way that person talks to me. Like he expects sweet treats or something. And I... feel safer around you."

"Y-You do?" said Xero, half bewildered.

Chelsea nodded, and continued: "I've always had this strange feeling when you were around; and I guess it's because you protected me, and a few times I protected you to. So please... stay with me."

Xero nodded. "I will... I promise."

She smiled. "Good."

Quin shook his head, moving away from Jenna, giving a mock sniffle as he rubbed at his arm. "Ow... that hurt Jenna. You should not be rough around men like me.
