"But is a heart greater than God?" Sandra asked. "And I don't believe poor people want hearts. No, it's not a heart. Try again."

"You said that rich people want hearts." Mira corrected Sandra. "Besides, you need the literal heart to live, but what about the philosophical one?" Mira asked. "My answer is a play on words, I guess, but in theory..... Oh wait.... The Devil...." Mira said, rethinking his answer.

"Oh. That's what I meant. Thank you," Sandra said. "But do all poor people have hearts? I think you're over-thinking this one." It's nothing philisophical. Really.

"Of course they do." Mira told Sandra. "Otherwise we would call them 'dead people' instead of 'poor people'. Wouldn't we?" Mira asked. "'Cause we kinda need a heart to live."

"I..." BM thought about this one for a moment. 'Okay, greater than god but worse then the devil? There isn't such a thing, is there? I mean-- Oh...' Grinning, he said, "Nothing?"

"But of course!" Mira said, as he slapped his forehead. "It was so obvious! Why didn't I think of that before?" He then returned his hand to the driving wheel.

"Yup. BM's right. It's nothing," Sandra replied, smiling. "I guess it's your turn to give a riddle, BM."

"Okay... Riddle." Thinking back to the last time he really did any good riddles, BM decided on a good one. He cleared his throat and asked, "A man working in an office on the 10th floor of a building takes the elevator up seven floors, then takes the stairs the rest of the way. On his way home, he takes the elevator straight to the ground floor. Now, why did he do that?"

"Morning exercise?" Mira asked. "It's a plausible answer, considering that there isn't much time to work out during the work day. That, and he's tired by the end of the day."

BM nodded at Mira. "A plausible answer, yes, but not the one I'm looking for. It would hardly be a riddle with a simple answer like that."

"Hm..." Sandra said. "Maybe the stairs were closed off for some reason the second time? Or the elevator wasn't working when he went up the stairs?"

BM considered Sandra's possibility. "Mmm... nope. The stairs were working fine. And isn't it usually the other way around? The elevator is blocked." Grinning, he added, "Do you give up?"

"Hm..." Sandra said again. She wasn't one for giving up so easily. "What about um...He was a midget!" Sandra exclaimed. "He could only reach up to the seventh floor button!"

Looking at Sandra, BM smiled. "Yeah, that's it. Good guess! So, your turn or Mira's now? I don't quite get the turn structure here..." He scratched the back of his head lightly, coughing a little bit into his arm.

"Goddammit!" Mira said, as he banged his forehead on the steering wheel - but sat back up quickly - so he could correct the car's course, so it would not crash. "Too obvious. So yeah, is it my turn?" Mira asked.

"Well...... Here's an interesting riddle, also it's more of a question: do you prefer to be or not to be?" Mira asked, smiling at the slight Shakespearian reference he made.

BM was about to jump at the riddle, but decided he should think things through. Clearing his throat, he asked, "The act of being in this case meaning existance? Like, living? Or do you mean acting, as in standing for ones morals?" Blinking, he reconsidered this, and couldn't figure out where he was going in the first place. "Or is that part of the riddle?"

((Sorry! I posted "Hm..." because I was in a rush!))
"Nothing. According to the dictionary, is nonexistence, death, or insignificance," Sandra said. ((And I'm still stumped, but I'm sure I'll get it eventually.))

Mira nodded. "Exactly. So if you were not to be, then how would you think about that?" Mira asked, smiling even wider now.

"Because you have NOTHING to think about." Mira said, catching on to what Sandra said. He then wonder if BM got it. He smiled at the thought.

BM smirked awkwardly at the pun. "Okay, umm, I'll just wing it. Is the answer not to be?" He paused momentarily before adding, "After all, NOTHING ventured, NOTHING gained." Lowering his voice to near inaudible levels, he concluded with a simple, "Or something."

"Um..." Sandra didn't get the reference since she never was interested in watching sports, but she decided not to say anything about it. "Anyway, hm... This isn't a riddle per se, it's more like a solving the mystery thing. I hope you don't mind. A detective went to a carnival. There, the local townsfolk had a gambling sort of thing. One of the local people would run ten miles and then drink this really nasty liquid after wards without reacting at all. So, the detective watched this. The man ran the ten miles. Then, the townspeople let him suck on ice. He drank the liquid without even reacting. The detective said, 'I think you should return these people's money before I call the police about your con.' What was the con?"

"What was the con..." BM pondered this for a while. 'Okay, maybe it has something to do with the... Nah. Must be the... Wait, no. It can't be that, it's... Hmm... Eh, it's worth a shot.' He frowned. "Maybe... the ice numbed his tongue or something? So he couldn't taste the liquid?"

"The con was the fact that this so-called 'nasty substance' was the water melted from the ice he sucked on." Mira said. "What was the point of 'running 10 miles' anyway? If we truly did run 10 miles, than the body heat helped the ice melt faster."

BM looked at Sandra in complete surprise. "Really?" Huh. Okay..." He tried, (and eventually failed) to come up with a riddle. "Hmm... Well, I have a joke at least. I could try and make it into a riddle. Ahem...

"A man was stuck in a desert, wanting to... well... not be, as it were. He grabbed a brick, and tossed it into the air. He ran under the brick's shadow, and waited for it to come down but it never did!" He paused. 'That should be a good... Did I just...' "I just gave away the answer, didn't I? Eurgh." He frowned at himself. "Okay, okay, lemme try and think of another... Okay got it!" Clearing his throat, he continued with his next riddle.

"A woman is flying in a hot air balloon. She's been flying for quite some time, and she was getting very hungry. She reached into her picnic basket to see a live duck! Screaming, she tossed the duck out of the balloon and went on to eat her sandwich. Minutes later, she heard a swooshing noise from outside the balloon. She peered over the edge, and something hit her square in the jaw. What was it?"
