Fleg and I talked about what we should do with the trees and decided it would be better to stay separate.
There are two families on CR now, this one and the other one.
There are people who won't be part of the other tree for any reason, if that tree becomes an extension it'll have all the info from this tree, some people from here won't want to be on the other tree, then there will be holes in both trees.
The holes will cause chaos as people won't know who goes where, and not everyone will want to look at both trees just to find stuff out.
After a while people will give up on the family trees altogether and both will die.
The trees need to stay two separate families. If someone marries from one to the other they'll have to leave the one tree to go to the other. I don't know if that is Fleg's rule but that is one for here.
These two families exist in the same world, and they coexist. There will be no feuding, but we won't be part of each other.
EDIT:
If it's causing such an issue, why not just say that all old pairings/adoptions/what-have-you from the original tree are still valid, this is just an extra space for same sex couples to declare their partnership? The trees don't HAVE to mutually exclude each other. It's just like...an expansion pack. Anyone not interested in same sex partnerships doesn't need to have anything to do with it.
At least, that seems like the most logical solution to me.

The only reason I won't let people be in both trees (on my side of things) is because Fleg insisted on having this as a tree for everyone.
The first PM I sent him was this very suggestion.
Just have the same sex couples listed here, they would still be on the other tree, just not listed in their same sex pairing. Then on this tree they could be listed as their pair.
That way people don't have to chose one tree or the other.
