Kara knew very well he didn't trust her, and she accepted it. There would always be those - due to various reasons - distrusted the prosecutor's office and those within it.
"I don't think you need to justify Ms. von Karma's action, Detective," she said carefully. "Regardless of the situation, *cough*, she had no reason to hurt you so. As for the equipment... well, sometimes I... *cough*" Kara shook her head, she couldn't reveal her secret to this man. "...You are all right now, Detective. Might I suggest you return to work?"

Valenzia had hoped that speaking to Franziska on a first name basis would have been enough to shock her momentarily and get her to put her guard down. It had been a long shot, and although it hadn't worked, Valenzia wasn't about to give up. She was sure there was something troubling the young prosecutor and she was determind to find out what.

"What are you hoping to accomplish by asking me these questions?" Franziska asked her.

Valenzia stopped and thought for a moment about how to answer this. The truth was, she cared that something was bothing her and that it was enough for her to take it out hard on the detective. Valenzia hated seeing her collegues unhappy but often found it difficult to show she cared without breaking her professional image. Still, she would get to the bottom of this, one way or another.

"As I said, you need to control your temper or else it might land you in trouble, and that wouldn't suit your perfect image, would it? So if there is something troubling you, it needs resolving."

Maybe that was a little harsh....true I don't want to see her temper getting her into trouble, but I just don't like seeing my collegues this unhappy.

Valenzia knew that getting Franziska to accept some help with what was troubling her was probably going to take some time. Perhaps thats what it needed. Time. Constant little reminders that she has someone she can talk to, and time for her to swallow her pride and ask for help. After all, she wanted to help her, not push her away. If that didn't work, well, one step at time.

"I imagine you are quite busy and I myself need to have a word with Detective Ambrose." The soft tone left her voice, replaced with her usual professional tone. "I shall be in my office if you wish to talk Prosecutor von Karma."

Valenzia bowed her head and left if search of Detecive Ambrose, hoping Franziska would have the sense to come and talk to her, but also making plans in case she didn't.

Floyd nodded absently. "Yes, my work..." he muttered, waving goodbye and leaving the room. "What was I even doing?" he asked himself silently, and walked along down the hallway. He decided he would have to prepare Ms. Von Karma's witness, so he headed over to her office to take a look at his file.

Valenzia made her way towards Prosecutor O'Keefe's office, after all she was the last person Valenzia had seen the detective with. As luck would have it she saw the Detective wandering around in the hallway.

"Detective Ambrose, to my office please."

She didn't stop to issue this order, instead walking onwards and expecting him to follow.

Bah! My "perfect image" is, and will be, just fine, thank you. Franziska thought to herself as she gave a slight glare to the now-departing Valenzia. She hit the bottom of the files on a nearby desk to align them, then started walking towards the parking lot. It was long past time for her to be leaving.

((Fast forward to Franziska walking back into the building, after meeting with witness. Approx. 20-30 minutes later.))

That went better than expected. The witness Franziska spoke with was a middle-upperclass business man in his late 50's. He was competent, spoke very well, and didn't argue. He had a clear recollection of what happened, and was willing to go along with whatever Franziska told him to do. Practically the perfect witness. Franziska smiled to herself; she could already see the defendant walking away in chains.

Quite contented, Franziska pushed open the glass doors of the Prosecutors' Office and headed for a nearby elevator. Seeing as she had some free time, she planned on reviewing the file in her office. Although she felt very confident in this case, it never hurt to become more familiar with the facts.

Opening her office door, Franziska flinched slightly at the sudden illuminance. Earlier, she had left the curtains at the far side of her office open, and now the sun shown directly through onto the dark, hardwood flooring. Her eyes, however, adjusted after a moment, and she decided to leave the curtains open. The light provided a pleasant atmosphere to work in.

She took a seat in her desk chair, not dissimilar to the one in Miles' office, and pulled the file in front of her. It was approximately 40 pages long, and Franziska was determined to get through the whole thing at least three times. From experience, she knew that doing so would allow her to have a perfect recollection of all the facts, something essential to a successful prosecutor.

((Franziska. . . really has no where to go from here. She's free the rest of the day; she'd have time for almost anything. The only way I can foresee a progression on my end is if someone knocks on her door or gives her a call. PLEASE DON'T FORGET ABOUT HER!! DD:))

((EDIT: Basically, I'm at a stand still >.<))

Sheila went to her office, reading over her case file. The trial would be open-and-shut. No one would think about her accusation of forging evidence if she...Her phone rang, interrupting her thoughts.
"Hello? ...No, you can't suspend that trial until tomorrow. I'll be at my own hearing then! ...Okay, I understand...Yes, I'll find a suitable replacement," she said into the phone. "Bye." She hung up and strutted out of her office and outside of Franziska's. Much as she hated to admit it, Franziska was probably the best person to handle this case, if she wasn't too busy. She knocked on Franziska's door.

(( Thank you, Lida ^-^ Appreciate it.))

*knock* *knock*

Franziska's eyes shot to her office door. "Who is it?"

((@Lida: Insert Sheila answering here. For the sake of the progression of the RP, I'm assuming she answers.))

Placing the pile of papers she was holding onto the surface of her desk, Franziska sat back in her chair. She folder her hands in her lap. "The door is open."

"It's Sheila Axiom," she answered. "The door is open." Upon hearing those words, Sheila cautiously went inside Franziska's office, curtsying respectfully to her once there.
"My apologies for disturbing you, Prosecutor von Karma," she said. "But the case I was working, the trial that was supposed to be today, has been suspended until tomorrow, and we both know I will be at my own hearing, therefore unable to prosecute. So, if you are free tomorrow...would you take the case for me?" She waited stiffly for Franziska's response.

((Hey guys~ I'd like to rejoin the RP, though I won't be reprising Portia this time round :3 I'm guessing we won't be able to tie in much of the original storyline but I think including the original idea of the Prosecutor Killer could be good, even if we can't add the other details.

Name: Nathaniel Blackwell (generally known as Nate)
Age: 25
Job: Prosecutor
Appearance: Nate's dyed his hair so many times, it's uncertain what his natural hair colour is- currently his hair's a dark brown. He's short for a guy, being about 5"9, has brown eyes and occasionally wears reading glasses. His preferred work outfit is a white dress shirt with black trousers, a dark green trechcoat and his trademark scarf.
Personality: Nate is extremely happy-go-lucky to the point that he's often criticised for lack of organisation- however he maintains that this is the only way he can stay sane in a profession that requires constant contact with violent crimes, though his very morbid sense of humour seems to indicate this isn't particularly effective. At odds with his usually cheerful personality, he's unusually obsessive about receiving accurate evidence.
Bio: Prior to becoming a prosecutor, Nate was a ballistics expert with Interpol and is considered one of the top authorities in the country on the subject. He's currently temporarily wheelchair-bound following an accident on his motorbike but is more relieved that he isn't facing a dangerous driving charge than anything else.

EDIT: Appearance added- sorry for the oversight!

I'm having a little difficulty seeing how I can fit Nate in here- does anyone object to my stirring up a little drama? ^^ ))

Floyd jumped at Ms. Von Richter's order. Her voice was so authoritative that it almost reminded him of his old Captain in the SAS. "Y-Yes, ma'am," he responded almost roboticly, and followed her into her office.

((I'll assume they just go in.))

Floyd stood in front of the woman's desk, praying silently that he wasn't in more trouble. These prosecutors were thick as thieves and chose any opportunity to punish a subordinate in Floyd's mind. His strategy was to just stand straight, shut up and look straight into their eyes. "You wanted a word, madam?" he asked.

By the time the detective reached her office, Valenzia was already sitting at her desk. She surveyed the apparently nervous Detective as he stood swifty and silently infront of her desk.

Valenzia was the oldest female prosecutor in the buiding and one of the most experianced with 35 years at the bar. As such, she commanded and earned alot of respect, and where needed, fear from her collegues and subordinates. Her office was one of few places Valenzia could excersise her full authority. Nobody entered her office unless they were in trouble or it was very important. Valenzia had always made it clear that if she was needed, she would go to whoever needed her. This had never been questioned and because of that, a certain taboo hung over Valenzia's office.

Detective Ambrose had a right to be nervous.

For five minutes Valenzia kept absolute silence before she took a deep breath in and spoke.

"Detective Ambrose, I don't suppose you would care to explain exactly what happened to cause my work to be dissrupted by the sound of Prosecutor von Karma's whip?"

Truth be told, the detective wasn't in that much trouble, Valenzia had two collegues in need of help and she deemed that asking, or more accurately, telling the detective he was going to help was important enough to merit a trip to her office. Although, she supposed it wouldn't hurt the Detective to think he's in trouble, after all, he must have done something to aggravate Franziska that much.

((@All: IMPORTANT! Please read.

(Kind of a long post, but please bear with me.)

Currently, we have no storyline. Characters are randomly moving around with no real purpose. It seems that actually having the prosecutors go to trial would be unrealistic, seeing as typical trials include, at a minimum, 4-5 different people. In our case, each person would need to be a different RP'er, so as not to give one person the advantage (ie, being a witness and one of the counsels). Franziska's upcoming trial and Sheila's two trials would, in the end, become an ellipsoid in the middle of a post. It would be unpractical to create three (or more) trials randomly playing out inside a General Roleplay, seeing as the majority of the characters wouldn't be involved.

I have an idea for a direction for this RP; please let me know what you think.

Right now (in the RP, if you all were to agree), Franziska would to receive a call from the Chief of Police "summoning" her to be the prosecutor at a hearing tomorrow. The hearing of Ms. Sheila Axiom, charged with forging evidence and trial misconduct. Valenzia, Kara, Floyd, and Nate (Panda :D Welcome back) could assume roles such as defense and defense-counsel (interesting twist; prosecutors as "defense" attorneys), witness (possible Floyd would be best for this), Judge (IDK if someone wanted to drop their character and take on this role. Or the judge could just be a universal character). Someone else could be a witness to either Sheila forging evidence or (on the flip side) to Sheila's unimpeachable character.

(I guess another possibility would be to have Sheila defend herself. . . not sure if that would work well, but nonetheless, it's an idea)

The way your characters assume their role would be up to you to RP (ie, Franziska receiving a phone call).

I figured this idea could make for some interesting dialogue in Franziska's office right now, as well as get everyone on the same page as far as a story line goes. We could go through the motions of a hearing (less formal than a trial, but a legal proceeding nonetheless), and actually create something for these characters to do.

Please let me know what you all think. From what I gathered, both Lida and I are on-board for this.
@Lida: Yes, I did C+P the majority of the post I sent you :D))

(( I'd be happy to have Kara as defense or defense counsel... and also, for a bit of drama, maybe she could collapse in the middle of the trial due to her illness? That could cause some uproar and I think I'll have her cancel her appointment if this is the path we go down.))

((I really like this idea!! That was almost the direction I was taking Valenzia in anyway :P just to suggest an elaboration on the idea, maybe some unseen character could just generally have it in for the prosecutors. This would give continuation to the plot once the forgery business is done and dusted and provide the characters a general overall theme to investigate together. Thats just an idea though :P))

Floyd gulped. This woman was more terrifying than Franziska would ever be. He was always intimidated by her manner, as others had been with Manfred himself, or close to it.

Floyd resigned himself and said, "I was late to deliver Ms. Von Karma's file on her witness. She got really angry," he attempted to explain. "I'm sorry I caused such an interruption." He spoke clearly and formally, having realized a long time ago that if you are confident and speak with clarity, you give others more reason to trust you.

That is, if prosecutors are able to trust anyone, Floyd thought to himself.

"Detective Ambrose, no doubt you realise the importance of good public relations and how the simple act of being late for a meeting with a witness can seriously undermine the witnesses confidence in the efficiency and capability of the prosecutor involved. I assume that you also realise how badly this reflects upon said prosecutor and how much more uncooperative it can make the witness."

Valenzia glared over the top of her glasses at the detective. No wonder Franziska had been angry, preparing witnesses was time consuming at the best of times.

"This is a serious misconduct on your part Detective Ambrose and as such requires a serious sanction. However, in light of the fact that Prosecutor von Karma has already taken disciplenary action against you and that you will kindly be offering your assisstance to me momentarily, I feel no need to take any further action on this matter. Consider yourself lucky Detective Ambrose, if this happens again, and i sincerely hope that it does not, I will not be as lenient. Do I make myself clear?"

Not giving the detective any time to answer Valenzia picked up the file that was sitting infront of her.

"Detective Ambrose, I need you to find out as much information as possible regarding Prosecutor Axiom's hearing tomorrow. I warn you now, this is of utmost importance and confidentiality. That means you will not converse about the details of the hearing to anyone other than myself. It also means that when I say I want this information by 8.30 tomorrow morning at the very latest, you will NOT be late. If you are late delivering this information to me the consequences will be severe. If, for some reason, you will have difficulty getting this information to me, you will let me know by 11.30 this evening."

She handed the file over to the detective.

"You may leave now."

((I feel SO sorry for Detective Ambrose, he's having a bit of a tough ride at the moment! This should be easily linkable to your plot idea GDM ^_^))

((Kinda of a lengthy post, but please read everything. Even though certain paragraphs are aimed at certain people, it more-or-less applies to everyone. I do believe that this RP has great potential, if we can get everything sorted out her in the beginning.

@Lida: I was just thinking that since we have half of our cast who aren't familiar with the allegations against Sheila, it would be better to start fresh. But if LWOD and Franzika Von ehmpke5 would go back over and read the previous two pages (which really aren't that many >_>) of this RP, then let us go with it! They'd be all caught up and we'd be able to pick up exactly where we stopped oh-so-many months ago. I'll explain further below VVVV

@LWOD: Well, lets talk about how Howl should enter. If we do go with the previous idea of a trial, then Franziska would receive a call from the Chief Prosecutor right around now, assigning her to be the prosecutor for Sheila's evidence forgery and trial misconduct case. Maybe Howl is Franziska's co-counsel? Maybe the Chief Prosecutor decided that it would be a good team-building exercise for the two to have to work together? This may lead nicely into our other RP. . . . with the idea of co-counsels and all.

Also, @Lida, would Sheila defend herself? Or maybe Lana could help?

@Franzika Von ehmpke5, what do you think about this? I know that Lana is/was technically the Chief Prosecutor, but maybe after THAT trial, she took up defending people? Could Sheila be one of her clients? If we are going with the trial, then there is no need for all the RPers to be prosecutors/detectives. Speaking of that, maybe Lana wants to be the detective instead? IIRC, she was a detective before she became Chief Prosecutor.

@LWOD: And no worries. Understood. If we are going to get this RP up an running, then we have time to further develop the other one.))

((@FVE5: Alright. Lets see what Lida thinks about the idea of Lana being defense. Being the defendant isn't exactly a hefty role in and of itself, seeing as they really don't do much other than sit there, maybe you and Lida could be defense? Or maybe Lana could be Lida's assistant (similar to how Maya, Mia, Maggey, etc. were to Phoenix and Trucy to Apollo) or vice versa?

((Well, I imagine Sheila would be more likely to try to defend herself, but if Lana were to, say, offer to defend her and present a logical reasoning as to why, then she would not refuse. It would take a little convincing on Lana's part, though. And even then, she would make Lana her assistant, rather than full-blown attorney, just because that's how she is.

@ToonBlade, of course you can, but I'm not sure how to tie you in...what do the rest of you think? Perhaps Lana could be detective, instead, and ToonBlade's charrie could be the defense assistant? I dunno.))

(( I have already posed this question to GDM, but would all previous relations from the other PORP be there, or will Howl become a "new face"?))

((@ToonBlade: As it stands now, we already had a defense attorney (Lana), but if she were to be okay with relinquishing that position and becoming the detective, then I'd say you could take over as defense (assuming Lida is alright with it). Which character would you be? Keep in mind your character will likely have to convince Sheila to not defend herself....

@Lida: (and kind of FVE5 & ToonBlade)

- Like I told ToonBlade, I believe that this is a matter for the three of you (ToonBlade, FVE5, and your-lovely-self) to discuss. If you guys decide to do co-councils, tag-team, etc, I think it would be alright with LWOD and myself. I do believe that Howl and Franziska may be co-councils in this, so it may be appropriate for the defense team to do the same. If FVE5 agrees to be detective, then maybe ToonBlade can be your assistant?

- Also, would you be alright with starting right where we left off about 15 posts ago? (Sheila asking Franziska to be the prosecutor in her previous trial, and Franziska about to receive a call from the Chief Prosecutor) When the time comes, of course :kyouya-pull:

@LWOD: That is one thing I had been meaning to talk with you about - I already sent you a PM. I do believe that your character (along with the other newbies to this RP) will be placed just fine.

- The original PORP has pretty much gone by the wayside, and we are starting anew, so the old relationships (as you put it) are gone. Start over.

- We really had no relationships to speak of between the characters who are still around from the most recent PORP, so you all can just come on in and make yourselves comfortable, if you know what I mean ^_^.

- I've thrown the idea our there - and I'll do it again - of Howl and Franziska being co-prosecutors on this case. I could set up the Chief Prosecutor's call to tell Franziska two things: 1) that she is the prosecutor for Sheila's trial in the near future and 2) that she will be sharing the bench with fellow coworker Howl Ingmune. Neither of these things are going to make her very happy, so maybe it would be good for Howl to enter her office as Franziska is speaking with Sheila (after some prior dialogue, of course).

@All: I'd expect more-or-less all of these characters (namely Sheila, Franziska, and Howl) to already have a somewhat-established dynamic, seeing as they theoretically work with each other every day. In other words, they know each other. I think that more-accurately addresses your question, LWOD.))

((Hey, everyone, I'm back! I hope I didn't miss too much. I'm also glad we have a plot to follow now. Lemme see if I can pick up my slack...))

Floyd gulped as Valenzia rapidly went through everything she needed to say. He was surprised when he heard that she wasn't going to punish him further, but at the same time, he wasn't going to complain to anyone. The Prosecutor placed the file on the desk in front of her, and Floyd picked it up immediately.

"Yes, ma'am. I'll get all the dirt I can on this, and I won't be late." He glanced at the file for a moment before scurrying to the door. He stepped out of the office and breathed a sigh of relief. His paycheck went unharmed another day. As he walked down the hallway, he opened the case file and skimmed through it. Apparently, there was a case being heard for an attorney forging evidence. He stroked his chin and thought for a moment.

He had to begin gathering some information on this, but he was at a loss on where to start. He thought for a moment of asking Ms. Von Karma, but he really wanted to avoid that if he could. The whip marks were starting to burn.
