Jay and Jeremy had begun following Austin as he ran out of the clinic.
"Where do you think that cry came from?" Jay asked as he ran, dodging people in the street as they continued following the weakened werewolf.
"I don't know, and I really don't want to know what we'll find," Jeremy replied, a reluctant tone in his voice. As the brothers entered the market closely behind Austin, they didn't have to look hard to see the scene of the action; fruit and wooden stands lay scattered all over the ground. Suddenly, Austin had made a quick turn, dashing on top of some crates and onto a rooftop. ((Sorry if this is god-modding. I had to "get" Austin on the roof somehow.))
As soon as Austin's figure had left the front of the brothers' sight and they saw what was really going on, they stopped dead in their tracks. They saw Zoey on the ground, nails embedded into the paved rock beneath her, but she looked... different. REALLY different, as if she had been possessed. 'Is that... Z-Zoey?' Jay thought with a shocked expression. He knew vampires could look like that, but still, seeing someone with such an unnatural look, especially since they knew how she looked normally, gave them a bit of a start. They then noticed they were falling forward and quickly placed their staves in front of them to support their weight. As soon as the tips touched the ground, the brothers witnessed Zoey free herself from the ground and lunge at the other standing figure there... Cody? Since when did HE get to Tepple? The brothers didn't think on it too much as Cody did quite a maneuver, picking up a fallen boy and readying his scabbard.
"Stop!" they heard Austin call from the rooftop, before he jumped down into the fray. The brothers took Evasive stances, ready to run if they must. After Austin commanded Cody to run away with the kid, the brothers decided to take a chance. They focused their energy and began running forward. They leapt a good eight feet into the air, aiming for the area behind Cody. As they approached the ground, they both folded their arms in, as if to give themselves a hug, and then shot their arms out, Jay towards the kid and Cody, Jeremy towards the brothers themselves. They had cast Auras of Protection, temporarily raising the target party's defense and evasion. They had landed on the ground as Austin began howling.
The brothers felt like they were becoming calmer, and then an idea hit them. They quickly procured their Spellbook sketchpads and made a note to "start experimenting with enchanting melodies". They wondered for a moment if they could possibly utilize music as well. Jay and Jeremy suddenly felt a warm sensation. As if on cue, Jay held his staff sideways, the bottom end in his left hand, like a guitar. He was curious to why he was doing this as he formed his right hand into a strumming position. He quickly swung his hand down as if to run it across imaginary "strings" and, to his surprise, he heard the sound of a chord being strummed in tune with what Austin was singing.
"Whoa!" Jay exclaimed softly. He was so amazed, he stepped back, almost falling, but he kept himself upright. He didn't wish to try again, as this was too urgent of a moment to test out his new-found ability. When Jeremy heard the chord, he looked over at Jay with a smile on his face. Then, he quickly lifted his own staff up, but imagined it to be a bass guitar. Plucking an invisible "string" yielded a low note also in-tune with Austin's howling. As the brothers stood there, still feeling a bit nervous, but also unnaturally calm, they thought about what they could do with their newly-discovered talent. Moving their staves back to their original position, though, the brothers readied themselves in case Zoey could not control herself. They would rather run than fight, even though they knew Zoey could outpace them any day even in her unvampiric state.
'What should we do?' the brothers thought in unison as their minds raced even in the calm state. 'She... I never wished to see her like this, but I figured I might have to sooner or later,' Jay thought, looking dejected. They knew Austin must be nervous as well... They felt bad for him; somehow the brothers knew the vampire and werewolf shared a connection--albeit unnatural--with eachother. He was doing his best though, and the brothers knew as well as their 'friend' knew that, in the end, the best is all you can do and, if it proves to not be enough... well, you would've probably been screwed anyway, but at least you made the attempt and that's what really counts. The brothers hoped that in this situation, the best would be enough... but they were ready if it would prove not to be.

((LOL don't worry. It's a beautiful post. XD))

Zoey stopped suddenly and straightened, a snarl on her face. The werewolf standing in front of her had kept her from her prey. As a shirt was thrown at her, Zoey grabbed it and sniffed at it once before throwing it to the ground, getting into a fighting stance. Who does this dog think he is to stop me from feeding? a part of her mind sneered.

She didn't even notice that he was speaking, but as he started howling her face changed, confused. Why was this wolf howling to her? Wolves could only howl to cause emotion. Surely the only emotion a dog would want from her was anger. So why did she feel...strangely calm?

Two other humans dropped down by the wolf and Zoey's head snapped to them before returning to Austin as the brothers started playing a tune to the werewolf's howling. Shifting from one foot to another restlessly, Zoey glanced at each of the brothers again, breathing quickly.

"Why are you..."

Looking back at Austin, Zoey's eyes widened in confusion. "You...I don't..." Not able to find any words to express her confusion, she lapsed into silence. I...the blood isn't calling to me... she realised with a jolt before turning to the werewolf with an intense glare of anger.

"You try to stop me feeding?!" she said. "You...dare?"

Stop...please....

Cody watched and waited for his opportunity. With the combination of the brothers' spell, and Austin's howl effect, Cody had started feeling calmed down-- and at the same time, a just a little weaker. '...they canceled "Berserker". I think I need to get out of here; to find somewhere safe, clear my head, and then get what I came for out of this boy.'

When he saw that Zoey was no longer giving him or the boy attention, he realized that now was the time. He muttered a quick "Thanks," before breaking into a run with both the boy and scabbard in hand. Slipping around the others, and aided by the evasion-spell, he dashed toward Zoey's right, but started to head closer to her than away, when one of the fallen objects on the ground caught his eye.

'I'd be just as in trouble without that as I would letting the vamp eat the kid. Gotta' He thought, passing Zoey and catching the boy's vest on the end of his scabbard. 'get that emblem!'
Cody was much too near Zoey for his own liking; just out of reach, but if she so much as pounced, that would be it...
He hastened his run, aiming the the inn less than fifty feet away, distance closing.

((Pah, 'sho, it's still better than anything I'll ever write XD))

As Cody ran past her the first time, the waft of air accompanying him snapped Zoey out of her confused stupor. She still felt calm, but she knew what she was doing now, and how to get the human, even if she did feel weaker, she was still stronger than a human.

When the man rushed past her a second time, running at full pelt towards a building, Zoey's muscles tensed and she sprang, putting all of her strength that wasn't taken by the calming music into her leap. She didn't jump quite far enough to tackle Cody, but managed to catch the hem of his shirt and yank it down as she fell to the ground for the second time.

I should have known it wouldn't work...
"Yes, I dare keep you from feeding, Zoey," Austin said, grabbing Zoey and pulling her off of Cody. "Because I care about you. You would never be able to forgive yourself if you killed anybody here." He forced Zoey to look him in the eye. "I love you, Zoey." He started howling the calming melody again, but there was a sad undertone this time around.

Zoey wrenched herself out of Austin's grip fiercely, spinning so that she didn't face the werewolf. Her arms were wrapped around herself and she was panting lightly, eyes wild. To the vampire state that she was in, nothing made sense. A werewolf not trying to kill her. Humans actually approaching her on purpose. It was all too much.

Turning back to face Austin, she saw the sad expression on his face. Wait. I saw the expression? Zoey's eyes widened further and she fell to her knees from the sheer force of her personality, memories and human characteristics flooded back to her. Dizzy, she looked up, taking in all of her friend's faces. When she saw Cody, the memory of her acts overwhelmed her and Zoey felt bile rise in her throat, turning to the side and throwing up violently in the gutter.

She remained crouched over the side of the road, tears pricking at the corners of her eyes.

"There, there," Austin said. He held Zoey's hair with one hand and patted her on the back with the other. "So, looks like you're remembering us now."

Cody heaved a sigh of relief, and took a look at the slight tear, formed at the hem of his clothes, from where Zoey had pulled him back. Even videogame clothes didn't last forever, but it wasn't irreparable, and a simple polish of the leather-armoring and sewing of the fabrics would bring it back to the top. Returning his attention to his captive, now in tow and unconscious, he brought the kid's shirt back from the tip of his weapon and pocketed it.

"Well," He started, not once forgetting where he was and why. He kept strolling to the inn, glancing over his shoulder to the tender scene. Yet, despite what had almost happened, Cody couldn't help but hope they would not ask the obvious question. "I'd love to stay and chat with you all, but I sorta have places to be. I'm sorry I got you all caught up in this mess; maybe we will meet again."

"Wait," Zoey said suddenly, her voice no longer the sneering, silky voice it was when she'd lost it. Struggling to her feet, she looked at Cody'a retreating figure and pointe at the unconscious boy. "Why the child?" she said. After all, it was that child that had got them into this mess. Feeling very weak, Zoey rested some of her weight on Austin.

Austin nodded.
"Yeah. Why him?" he asked. Then, he chuckled. "And where is that vampire? What was her name? Elaine? Last I saw of her, she wouldn't leave you alone." He smiled as he remembered how she called Cody Mr. Grouchy Emo Face.

Cody flinched, feeling like he'd just jumped into a pool of ice water. He stopped and turned around.

'Damn you, Murphy. You and your Law.'

"Ah, well..." Cody said, stalling to think of how to explain everything, without starting another fight. "As far as my 'excess baggage' went, I dropped her off at an Inn yesterday, when she fell asleep, and split after that. So far, I haven't seen her since. I'm not gonna complain, it's a load off my back." 'Literally.' "As for the boy..."

Cody felt a lump rise in his throat. It was like one of those moments, when you are just a little kid, and your mom caught you with your hand in the cookie jar. He felt cornered, and couldn't put it past himself to lie. The only way he could think of it, was like trying to trick close friends; despite only meeting them once, there was something keeping him held down. 'Wait. Is this... guilt?'

"...tch, dammit... The kid is my prisoner now. He has something I need, and he won't be going free until I get what I want out of him. It..." Cody paused again, still trying to think of what to do. He tightened his grip on the scabbard, and around the sleeping boy's waist as he held him under his arm. "I can't pretend that it isn't the truth... b-but he isn't going anywhere until I say so, and I won't feel sorry for going full force on any one o' ya who tries to stop me!"

"Who said anything about stopping you?" Austin asked. "What is it you need from this boy?" He vaguely wondered what would happen if any of them decided to attack Cody. His "full force" wouldn't have been enough to save him and the boy from Zoey a few moments ago. Austin shook his head to clear it. He wanted to say something else, but couldn't quite place his finger on it.
See what she just did? She just tried to kill Cody and the boy! She's dangerous. She should be killed.
You know how bloodlust is a very powerful thing. She hasn't eaten human blood in so long...
So that automatically excuses her from what she would have done had you not intervened? Austin gritted his teeth.
"Quiet," he whispered.

"Phew, I'm glad THAT'S over..." Jay whispered as Zoey began becoming "herself" again. "Bloodlust is such a cruel punishment... and yet I wouldn't know the first thing about it," he commented, feeling a tear at the corner of his eye as the enchanting music-induced memories of past adventures came flooding back. Then, Cody started walking away, the incapacitated child in tow. Then, as if singing counterpoint, everyone started asking "Why the child?" and the brothers couldn't help but ask themselves. Then, as Cody told the story, the brothers' heads filled with thoughts like, 'What would a child have that he would need?' and 'He's so young, and yet... something seems odd about him,' as they remembered that in some foreign countries, even children could be trained to fight and keep secrets, sad and pitiful is it may seem.
"Shame, shame, shame," Jeremy began, "That even in this game, children cannot escape the evils of espionage..." He meant how Cody took him prisoner, but also how he would have any reason to take the boy hostage in the first place.
"That boy must be hangin' around with the wrong crowd, eh heh... heh," Jay stated, slightly-jokingly, but mostly-serious. Then, he looked at Austin, who seemed to have a look in his eye before whispering "Quiet". Jay had a slightly apologetic look on his face, not knowing whether Austin was talking to himself or Jay.
"As curious as we are to know as well what you plan to interrogate the boy about, we will not force you to answer," Jeremy said formally, turning his head back towards Cody.

As each person responded, their words sunk in for Cody, and that lump in his throat returned. His demeanor visibly changed, and the look on his face shifted away from that tense stare to a placid, blank gaze. It wasn't peaceful, though, relaxed as he was; Cody gave off a new vibe, looking over each person before him. In his eyes...

It was...

"This kid is a member of a guild." He said, bluntly. "You all know that this game lets you form clans. But this is something I haven't heard of before I learned of them, they are different. Most groups are made with friends, or as businesses or clubs, but this... this is a literal "thieves guild". What they did... They took some... something precious to me. I..."

Cody squeezed the scabbard tight until the leather began to complain under his grip. Intensity filled his eyes, the same intensity that he held back in the cave.

"...I can't forgive them! Ever!! By mere association, those who fly this emblem are my sworn enemies!"

...disgust...

At those last words, he grasped and threw the kid's shirt to the ground in anger, where it sprawled, fluttering slightly. On the left-front side, a patch, worn open at the top to be like a pocket, had sown into it a black and red insignia:
Spoiler:
Image

Cody, still holding the boy, turned away from the group, and began to walk towards the Inn again. "Neither their name, nor the name of their leader, I know. You saw what they did to me back in the cave. That wasn't some measly mugging on a noob, I was lured and ambushed. ...I'm blacklisted now, so nothing I do will make it any worse than it already is. I-I..."

'I had hoped so much that one of you would try to stop me... to protect this kid from me, but... but it really is painted black and white. You are all like me, aren't you?'

...and contempt.

Zoey glanced at Austin when he whispered to himself, but made no further reaction. He was probably troubled by the same thing as at the inn. Feeling a surge of guilt for her actions, she turned back to Cody to listen to his halting explanation.

Nodding slowly, Zoey studied the insigna on the ground. "If you need...want us to help you in any way," she said hesitantly, all too aware that she had just tried to kill Cody. "I...personally I would like to help." She averted her eyes, slipping a hand into Austin's.

Austin nodded.
"I'll help however I can as well," he said. "How do you plan on getting your precious item back? By invading the guild? I hope you thought your plan through, and I mean really thought it through. I...If you were deleted..." Austin trailed off.
Wouldn't life be much more convenient if that blood sucker was deleted?
Wouldn't life be much more convenient if you weren't an ass?
Touche. You know she would have deleted both him and the kid if you didn't show up.
No, she wouldn't have. She would've killed him once or twice, but 20 times? I know what you're doing, and it's not going to work.
It will when...
I know. I know. It will tonight and under he full moon. Blah blah blah evil plan to kill my love blah blah blah. I get it. Now leave me alone until then.
Very well.
Huh...That was easy.

Feeling Austin's hand tighten on hers so subtly a human wouldn't have been able to pick up on it, Zoey turned to look at her partner. She knew his face so well already, and she could see a hint of worry in his eyes. "What's up?" she breathed. What he had just said didn't seem to be able to cause much agitation, except perhaps the comment about Cody's deletion. But still, Zoey knew that couldn't have been it.

"Deleted, hm...?" Jay wondered aloud, scratching his chin as he leaned on his staff. "Sure, Cody might've been able to survive a death or two..."
"But what about the child?" Jeremy finished. "Though if he was able to outrun Cody for a while, maybe he HAS had some training after all..." he contemplated. Jay quickly took out his menu PDA, searched for the feature he was looking for, pointed the device at the insignia on the ground, and snapped a picture of it. He decided to name the photo 'Guild of...'
"Guild of what?" Jay said to himself. 'Guild of thieves; Cody's enemies', he decided to name it. "There," he said finally, "So if we see this insignia in the future, we'll be sure to keep a good eye on the one displaying it."
"We should do more than keep a good eye on them," Jeremy commented, "For if they were able to steal Cody's... item so easily, it shows they are not amateurs... though it DOES show they are cowards." The brothers continued to maintain their stance, keeping ready in case the boy rose and attempted to run off again. They also kept an eye on Austin, though, who appeared to have a tense look in his eyes, perhaps as if he was fighting with himself about something. Just then, a cold breeze ran through the marketplace, sending a chill down the brothers' backs.
"Brrrrr... I forgot how real this place's weather could be," Jay stated, shivering a bit, "And I also forgot how close to Autumn it was..." The brothers then looked up to notice that clouds were beginning to gather in the sky. Still kind of sparse, but Jay and Jeremy were suspicious of their movement as the brothers shivered again, even though it had to still be in the mid-60s degrees Fahrenheit range.

"Deleted? Heh... you guys are interesting." Cody said, still facing away from them. A shiver ran through him, though it was impossible to tell whether it was the weather or not. "...if you really want to help, come meet me again at the city's back-gate, at around midnight. I'll share what I do know, and what I will know with you. Until then, I-I'll... j,just leave me alone until then."

Cody started walking once again, bound for that Inn. He returned the scabbard back around his back, and didn't look back. He just couldn't. Not yet.
'I'll be lucky if I have the stomach to face them tonight... I've got to keep strong. I can't let my will falter. I'm sorry for this, kid...'

((I'll look it up to make sure, but I'd imagine they would still change...))
Austin smiled.
"What's up?" Zoey asked.
"Nothing," Austin replied. Then, he realized the voice in his head wasn't saying anything and he laughed. "Nothing at all." The breeze chilled Austin slightly, but it wasn't unpleasant.
"Deleted? Heh... you guys are interesting," Cody said. Austin stopped laughing at that. He listened to Cody's instructions, then watched as he walked away.
"Suit yourself," he said casually. Then, his stomach growled, and he chuckled. "Who knew that being poisoned and then running all around town would make someone hungry?" He laughed a little harder. "How about we all get some breakfast? My treat."

Unconvinced, Zoey squeezed Austin's hand and forced a smile onto her face. "That would be nice," she said, scooping up his shirt from the ground and tying it around her face.
He's keeping something from you, a sly voice whispered in her head. Zoey shook her head slightly. He...he wouldn't.

The brothers mouthed "We'll think about it" when Cody was walking off, not waiting for anyone's answer. Then they heard Austin's stomach growl and him mention breakfast.
"Breakfast sounds lovely," Jay said happily, "But do either of you know a good place? The two of us wouldn't have a clue."
"That's right, but we had better find some place soon, in case it is going to rain..." Jeremy stated, casting a worried eye towards the sky once again. The cold breeze was gone, but the clouds in the sky continued to slowly move towards town. Just then, the brothers had a thought about what Cody said.
"W-wait a minute, at midnight? ...Isn't tonight going to be a--" Jay began, but stopped himself mid-sentence for some reason.
"A full moon," Jeremy finished, half in-thought, half aloud, "What an inopportune time to want to call us all together..." The brothers thought back to about what they had experienced in their dream, but they didn't want to tell anyone yet because it seemed so unbelievable. They were now worried about the whole full moon thing, though.

Austin stopped laughing.
"That's right," he said. "Tonight is the full moon. And..." He cast a worried look at Zoey. I will be going after her... Then, he smiled. "How about if I meet Cody at the gates and you guys...?" He trailed off. "Hm...Maybe it would be more beneficial if you all went with him. I'll...Do something else."

Biting her lip, Zoey nodded worriedly. "I suppose...that would be wise," she agreed reluctantly. "But what if you get into any trou..." She tailed off as she realised that in his werewolf state, Austin would be unstoppable.
All the more reason for him to stay away...preferably permanently, the silky voice sneered in her mind.

((Drama drama drama drama drama! Gotta love it.))

"Yes, I agree that we need to construct some sort of plan for that time," Jay stated, still thinking intensely, "But that time will not be here for another... half a day or so?"
"Yeah, about ten hours I estimate," Jeremy agreed, "But we can discuss it over breakfast... Doesn't anyone know a good place?"
"That is a good idea, and let's at least get moving. I think I see people beginning to enter this area again," Jay said, looking towards the edges of the marketplace. And indeed they were coming back. It had been a couple minutes after the cacophony had calmed down and non-player citizens were beginning to return to the marketplace streets.

Austin smiled at Zoey.
"You don't need to worry about me. It's not like I'll be the one walking into a guild of thieves," he said. He saw the slightest twitch of Zoey's eyebrow, but brushed it off. It's probably nothing.
...She's planning to kill you, you know.
Oh, this again! She's not planning to kill me! She's been nothing but good to me.
Well, if that's how you feel, why don't you tell her everything?
I will when and if I can get her to see me alone.
A voice in Austin's head laughed mockingly.
"Yeah. We should go...Um..." Austin pulled out a map. "There's a restaurant a few blocks east of here..."

Seeing Austin's continued unease, Zoey sighed and decided to leave Austin on his own. Much as it pained her, it seemed that it was a problem he'd rather face on his own. "Only a few blocks east? Okay," she said with as much enthusiasm as she could handle, that is to say, not much.

"A few blocks east, hm?" Jay repeated after Austin said it. He pulled out his menu PDA, went to the map screen, and searched for the restaurant Austin was talking about. "Ah, there it is," Jay said after he found it and selected it. Now they could just follow the map until they reached the restaurant.
"Hey, why don't you two go on ahead and get a table? We prefer to take it slow and we know how fast you guys can run," Jeremy suggested.
"Yeah, we kinda want to look at the shops on the way there so we can get better acquainted with where everything is," Jay added, "Just in case we might want to come back later and buy things." Sure, the brothers' maps were useful, but they only gave vague descriptions of the buildings like "item shop", "blacksmith", "restaurant", "inn", "cleric", etc. Perhaps they might even find a shop to purchase upgrades for their PDAs? It's a longshot, but it could happen, the brothers thought.

"Well, suit yourselves," Austin said.
This is exactly what she wants. She'll kill you as soon as there are no witnesses so...
Didn't you say you'd shut up?
...

"Shall we?" He offered his arm to Zoey and smiled.

Grinning with relief as Austin seemed to have regained his characteristic happiness, Zoey took the offered arm. "We shall," she replied jokingly before starting at a jog, tugging Austin along impatiently. "Come on then!"

Austin smiled and ran after her.
"I'm gonna beat you there!" he said as he playfully turned on the spot and ran down the alleyway that served as a shortcut.
Now that you're going to be alone with her, you can tell her everything. Austin gulped and he stopped for a second.
What will she do when she knows?
Isn't it funny that you've been in the game long enough that you're an adult now, and yet you're still a child? Austin smiled.
It's hilarious.

Zoey smiled and ran after Austin, keeping to a relatively human pace. I'm glad he seems to be happier now. Running after him into the alleyway, she nearly ran into him when he stopped suddenly. Placin a hand on his shoulder, Zoey bit her lip. Looks like something's still up. "Hey," she said slowly.

Austin shivered as Zoey touched his shoulder.
"Hey," she said slowly. Holy crap! How do I start? What do I say...?
"H-hey," Austin stuttered. Come on. Think of something. "Um...I...Have been thinking a lot lately."

Zoey sighed, taking her hand off Austin's shoulder and stepping in front of him. "Yeah, I can tell." Golding her arms, she shook her dark hair out of her eyes and hummend thoughtfully as she waited for him to speak. I can't help but wonder what all of this is about, she mused. She absently called for the spirit, which washed around them both in a comforting way. Wait, I don't need comforting! Zoey scoffed to herself and banished the power harshly, feeling an odd sort of emptiness when the feeling left.

((Well, I guess so, provided you make an acceptable profile and give your character a substantial entrance...))
Austin smiled timidly.
"The thinking...It's kind of torture..." I can't believe I'm doing this. Well, if I'm going to tell her everything, there's no point in dancing around the issue. "Well, ever since you gave me the wolfsbane, I've been getting horrible thoughts in my head, like that you're trying to kill me and that I should kill you first." Oh, come on. Is that really such a big deal? Tell her the rest. Austin sighed and shook his head. Then, he looked Zoey in the eye. "The worst part is, I try to ignore these thoughts, but they're...Just impossible...They're ridiculous, but it..." Spit it out. "I...Really don't want to believe them, but I have to know for sure. I know you love me, and I love you, too, but...Do you ever have the...urge to kill me?"

"I..." Zoey struggled for words. It wasn't as if she wasn't expecting something like this, but answering the question would prove to be very difficult. Would telling the truth turn him from her? Would lying to him make him distrust her? Shaking her head and closing her eyes to clear her mind, Zoey pinched the bridge of her nose before opening her eyes again, looking straight into Austin's. "I...well not the urge to kill you," she said with difficulty. "Just..I have these thoughts too. Telling me...how I shouldn't trust you. Or be near you. Or...keep you alive." At this last statement, she averted her eyes.

Austin nodded.
"Well, your thoughts definitely have some merit to them," Austin said. Then, he chuckled. "We are so messed up." He laughed harder. "Good thing you didn't act on those thoughts. Well, good thing for me, anyway." He laughed even harder. "And at least you didn't sound like a psycho while you were thinking those things." Then, he became serious. "So, what do we do?"

((Whew... second quarter exams done finally. Sorry about the active-leave there.))

"One room. Me and my brother will share it, if you don't mind. It's all I can afford."
"That's perfectly fine-- just don't forget, no food in the rooms, and be out by mid-morning, tomorrow."
"No worries, sir. I'll be out before then."

-------------------------------------------------------------

The door was locked from the inside, and not a sound came from the purchased room. Cody, now carrying the boy bound-and-gagged in a sack over his back, crept along the back of the Inn. He managed to sneak out into the back alley, climbing down out the second floor window from the room he rented despite his heavy load.

Landing heavily, he immediately drifted into the maze of twists and turns. The deeper into the back-ways of Tepple he got, the less people he ran into. Finally, after a few minutes of wandering and not meeting up with anybody, Cody broke into a vacant storage shack. Slipping inside and closing the door behind him, he started to look through the room, parting cobwebs and looking for a window or candle as his eyes adjusted to the lack of light.

'Great... now I'd have two charges on me: kidnapping and breaking-and-entering. Well, seeing as nobody seemed to have been in here ages... less worry about intruders.'

Solemnly, he placed the sack down on the floor, and set a chair in the center of the room. Before he did anything else, he rooted through the moldy crates, hoping to find anything useful before he un-bagged the boy.
