"LARRY!" Phoenix jumped to his feet, but when his face got pale it was pretty obvious he wasn't going to be staying on them long. "NOTHING HAPPENED! I mean...well NOTHING IS GOING TO HAPPEN!" Yeah, that sounded less suspicious...

Emi got up and opened it. Her room had no decorations except for maybe the dozens of sketch pads stacked on desks and the floor.

It wasn't that Phoenix didn't want anything to happen. It was just that he didn't want to ruin his Dollie's reputation with nasty rumors, and Larry was not the kind of guy you wanted thinking you've done something...dishonorable.

There was that look. That look that meant she was supposed to apologize for something again.
"I'm sorry, ma'am. I made some friends and they wanted me to go to their concert." She said this with as much deadpan as she said anything else.

Phoenix's head slumped and a little bead of sweat formed on his temple.
"Really?" He couldn't believe it.

Emi stared at her teacher with a blank unblinking expression. Then curiosity settled in and her eyes shifted from looking tired to open big and wide. The sudden glisten of light against her iris always made them change from brown to honey yellow.
"Ma'am, what do you know about love?"
