Akashi hugged Lily tightly. Lily made a happy noise and snuggled closer to Akashi in response. Akashi also glanced at his Poke balls that have his other two pokemon in them with a smile. "Well... I don't think my pokemon have a problem with me." His smile faded. "On a more serious note... It's a good thing we're coming here first. Some guy inside the gym had told me that I needed to get the approval of the Elder at the top of this tower..."

Lucy couldn't help but laugh at the coincidence. "Amazing," she said. "I just wanted to come here to do some sightseeing, but other reasons to come here just keep piling up." She paused to collect herself, letting out an amused sigh. "Shall we go in, then?"

"Piplup!" Piplup eagerly exclaimed, pointing toward the entrance and literally marching toward the tower.

Akashi smiled at Piplup's enthusiasm." Alright. I suppose we should go." The group crossed a couple of small wooden bridges and finally entered the the three-tier tower.

The inside of the tower had a very ancient feel to it. At the very entrance stood two Bellsprout statues and a large pillar stood in the middle. Towards the back was a ladder with a man standing by it. The only light given off was by the multitude of candles along the walls. The group admired the scenery, and proceeded toward the back, saying hello to the other people present. The man stopped the group as they approached the ladder.

"Welcome to Sprout Tower. This is a place of spiritual training and worship. Our elder resides at the top, but all the sages you meet after you climb this ladder battle and train so as to get closer with their pokemon. Please be warned that us sages only use Bellsprouts for battle."

Lucy glanced at Piplup. (Judging by the way those Bellsprout statues look, Bellsprout's probably a Grass Pokémon. That could be a problem for us if any of the Bellsprout the Sages have know Grass moves...)

"Pip lpiplup?" Piplup asked, noticing Lucy's gaze.

"Sorry, Piplup, I didn't mean to worry you," she said.

"Only Bellsprout, huh?" Anya asked. "Alright."

(If that Pokemon is a grass type, this'll be too easy. I was hoping for a challenge.)

"Cynda?"

"Oh, sorry, Cyan. I'm just thinking about how fun this'll be!" Anya patted Cyan and nudged Lucy.

"There's no reason to worry. We got this."

"Can we start climbing already?" she asked the group.

"I'm ready. A little strange we need to take on some monks and have an elder's approval. Who am I to question their customs though?"

With complete determination, the group of trainers climbed up the ladder with the helpful sage wishing them luck.
(Sprout Tower Second Floor) After climbing the ladder, the group was a bit dismayed to see that not a whole lot was there, if anything at all. The group proceeded down the corridor a bit disappointed. As soon as they turned the corner however, a sage walked up to them.

"I see that you wish to meet our elder. Well, you'll have to beat me first! You!" He pointed at Basir, "I challenge you to a battle!" The sage then proceeded to send out a Bellsprout (Lv.3).

"Ok. Go, Teri!"

Teri materilaized out of the confines of his Pokeball.

"Use a Tackle attack!"

Post subject:  Re: Pokémon RePlay

Teri quickly flew and crashed into Bellsprout. Bellsprout took considerable damage but could still stand. "Bellsprout, use Vine Whip!"
A vine emerged from Bellsprout's body and lashed at Teri. The move connected, but Teri didn't sustain too much damage due to being a flying-type.

Holding steady...

"Alright Teri, follow it up with another Tackle!"

Post subject:  Re: Pokémon RePlay

Teri complied and crashed into Bellsprout once more. Bellsprout took the hit... or it tried to. it stood for a couple of seconds before fainting.(Teri is now Level 3) Basir's Pokedex said.
"Gah! Oh well... It was expected really..." The sage recalled that Bellsprout and sent out another Bellsprout (Lv. 3) to face Basir.

Might be a good time for Caterpie to get some experience, especially with the type advantage.

"Good job Teri. You can take it from here, Caterpie!"

Basir recalled Teri and sent out his Caterpie.

"Alright Caterpie, use a String Shot to slow the Bellsprout down."

Post subject:  Re: Pokémon RePlay

Caterpie spit out and wrapped Bellsprout in silk. However, the sage smirked, "Bellsprout, use Growth!"
A light green aura emanated from Bellsprout, and the silk around it broke. "Now, use Vine Whip!"
The Bellsprout then proceeded to whip Caterpie with its vines. It wasn't very effective, but due to the usage of Growth, Caterpie took considerable damage.

With the Bellsprout wrapped in silk, Basir commanded: "Use another Tackle attack!"

That'll show that monk...

Caterpie tackled Bellsprout, sending it flying back a few feet. Bellsprout recovered quickly however and got ready to attack. "Bellsprout, use Vine Whip again!" Yelled out the sage. Bellsprout quickly brought out a vine and whipped Caterpie. Unfortunately, it hit Caterpie's weak spot rather hard and sent it flying. The caterpillar crashed into the floor and did not get up afterwards. Bellsprout had won.

What?! I've just lost?! Grrr...monks sure aren't any pushovers.

Basir clenched his right fist as he shouted

"Alright Florencec your turn!"

Florence was switched into battle, assuming a fighting stance.

"Use an Ember attack!"

The sage's face was filled with fear and shock as the Ember attack landed and instantly knocked out his Bellsprout. He recalled it and sent out his last and final Bellsprout. "B-B-Bellsprout, use... Vine Whip!" It was futile effort, however, as Florence easily withstood the attack.

To finish off the sage's last Bellsprout, Basir ordered another deadly Ember attack to finish the poor thing.

Florence quickly spit out a piece of fire at Bellsprout, knocking it out. The sage looked aghast as he recalled his Bellsprout. He then regained his composure and handed Basir 576¥. He then moved out of the way, giving the group access to the ladder that was behind him.

"Good job, Basir!" Akashi told Basir, petting Lily as he said it.

"Thank you," Basir replied. "I'm glad that I managed to beat him, but it did come at the cost of Caterpie. Poor Caterpie..."

"I am going to head back to the Pokemon Center if that's alright with you all."

Akashi nodded. "That's fine. Be careful." Basir nodded and left the tower. Akashi and the girls were determined to get to the top, however. They climbed down the ladder and walked in the direction that wasn't a dead end. They then ran into another sage, the ladder a few feet from him.
"Hold it!" Yelled the sage. "If you want to see the elder, you have to get through me! You! Young lady!" The sage pointed at Lucy, "I challenge you!" He then sent out a Bellsprout (Lv. 3)

(Piplup might be okay if that Bellsprout is inexperienced enough, but it's probably better to let Rattata handle the Grass-types,) Lucy thought as she nodded to the sage's challenge.

"Very well," she said. She pointed at the Bellsprout. "Rattata, to battle! Start with a Tackle!"

Rattata charged at the Bellsprout, slamming into it and sending both Pokémon tumbling. Rattata landed on his feet and was now behind the Bellsprout.

Bellsprout quickly got up, "Use Growth!" Called out the sage. Bellsprout struck a pose as a faint green light seemed to surround it. It then looked at the Rattata as if beckoning it to attack.

Post subject:  Re: Pokémon RePlay

(Wait a minute. Vine Whip hits like a whip, meaning it requires space to hit. In other words, the closer Rattata is to Bellsprout, the less room that vine will have to build up speed!) Lucy smiled confidently.

"Use Tackle again, but stay close to Bellsprout this time!"

Rattata charged at Bellsprout again, once again knocking it over. Right after he landed, he drew close to Bellsprout as the latter tried to right itself.

(Hopefully, the extra speed from a Quick Attack will keep him from being vulnerable the next time he needs room to hit.)

The sage smirked, "Bellsprouts aren't as slow as you think!" He yelled. "Quickly, Vine Whip!"

Right as Rattata approached Bellsprout, Bellsprout quickly got up and spun rapidly while extending its vines. It hit Rattata and sent flying a few feet. Rattata landed on its feet, however.

(So much for Tackle, then...)

"Slow enough," Lucy said with a smirk. "Quick Attack, Rattata, and don't forget to keep close!"

Rattata once again struck Bellsprout, knocking it off its feet. He stopped right where Bellsprout landed.

Bellsprout had fallen to the ground defeated after Rattata's attack. The sage shook his head as he recalled his Bellsprout.

Rattata is now level 6 Lucy's Pokedex said.

The sage proceeded to send out another Bellsprout (Lv. 3)

"You know what to do by now, Rattata. Close the distance and hit with a Quick Attack!"

Rattata charged at the Bellsprout, knocking it back. He was quick to follow his opponent, making sure to stay close.

Bellsprout flew back a few feet, hurt badly from the contact. However, it got back up and took a stance. "Vine whip!" Called out the sage.
A vine quickly sprouted and hit Rattata, faster than the previous Bellsprout's vines. Both Pokemon seemed ready to drop after one hit.

"Another Quick Attack, Rattata!" Lucy barked.

Rattata obliged, striking the Bellsprout again before it could counterattack.

(If this man has another Bellsprout after this one, I'll probably have no choice but to send Piplup out unless I want Rattata to faint. Here's hoping that Quick Attack was enough to defeat this one, though...)

And just like Lucy had hoped, Rattata's Quick Attack had knocked out Bellsprout. The sage frowned as he recalled his Pokemon and then proceeded to send out his last Bellsprout (Lv. 3)

(Here goes nothing...)

"Piplup, it's your turn," Lucy said.

"Pip?" Piplup replied.

"Yes, your turn. I have an idea. Hopefully, it will work."

Rattata walked back to where Lucy was standing and lay down while Piplup walked forward.

"Rattata," Rattata muttered as he placed his chin on his front paws.

"Let's start off with a Growl," Lucy said. (Vine Whip's a physical attack, so Growl should weaken it.)

Piplup let out what passed for a growl. Bellsprout relaxed its stance a bit.

The sage gave an approving nod, "Good tactic. Bellsprout, use Vine Whip!"

Bellsprout whipped Piplup, hurting him bad. Luckily, Growl did enough for Piplup to withstand the attack.

"Close in and use Pound!" Lucy ordered. "Stay close and keep Pounding!"

Piplup dashed toward Bellsprout and delivered a punch, sending Bellsprout flying back. Piplup followed Bellsprout, readying another Pound as he drew close.

Post subject:  Re: Pokémon RePlay

Piplup's first Pound did damage, but the consecutive Pounds that followed really damaged Bellsprout. "Bellsprout, Vine Whip!" Called the sage.

...but it was too late. Too many hits had landed and the result was Bellsprout collapsing. Piplup won. The sage sadly recalled his defeated Pokemon.
He handed Lucy 576¥ and stepped off to the side.

Lucy's Pokedex then beeped twice. Piplup is now Level 7 Lucy's Pokedex said.

"Well done, both of you," Lucy said.

She squatted down next to Rattata, reached into her bag, and took out a Potion. Rattata got up and got close so Lucy could spray him. He let out a sigh of relief as he felt the mist on his fur.

"How about you, Piplup?" Lucy asked, looking to Piplup.

"Pip, Pipluppiplup!" Piplup exclaimed, nodding. Lucy took out another Potion and sprayed Piplup.

"There. Good as new, right?" Both Pokémon nodded.
