(slight miscommunication. the ash is all in one pile, not a trail. the geographic location of the pile is straight from the entrance, past the haiku author rc)

"Rina would have been cleaning the Lounge at that time, presumably. But Liza... I don't believe she had any obvious reason not to be back in her cell by then. Yet, I doubt she was dead by that point, if we're assuming she really did die by gunshot. And Liza didn't have any other notable injuries on her. Presumably she was out at that time voluntarily."

"Maybe the killer used the pillowcase as a bandage after getting wounded. Then they brought this bloody bandage to the shore and burned it? Or perhaps they cut themselves with the spear while at the shore....or maybe they needed the pillowcase, utensils, and spear at the shore because..." "To throw us off. If it was wet, it'd lead us to suspect that someone washed something off of it, such as blood. If it was dry, it'd be weird if it was found in the kitchen, but it wouldn't draw too much suspicion."
