"Well, yesterday afternoon I was in the artroom with Matt and Crimson, who was painting to pass the time. " said Arthur. "Karega joined us and stated how she felt she was about to die. Or at least that her time had come. "
"But after that, I decided to go back to my room to finish up a draft, and I saw Ryuji in the hall. " said Arthur. "It looked like he was trying to stuff a note under Miss Elwyn's door. I could clearly see a piece of it sticking out from under the door. I wouldn't have thought anything of it at the time, but Ryuji told me in no uncertain terms to forget that I saw him. I thought it was odd, but I didn't want to pry..."
Arthur paused. "... until the body announcement this morning, that is. I immediately thought to check whether the note under Alchie's door was still there. But it wasn't. It was at that time that I asked Miss Monomi for access to Miss Elwyn's room, but she refused. She did give me two vital pieces of information."
Arthur paused for breath. "How do my characters talk this long without breathing? Anyway, one, as I've already stated, is Monokuma's assurance that the killer didn't hide any evidence in their rooms. If we take this as a perfectly literal, then it could be that either the note isn't evidence, or that the killer was trying to ditch it in another person's room. "
"But the other piece of information is somewhat more interesting; Miss Elwyn's room was away from her room between the time Ryuji put the note there, and the body announcement. But the note was clearly not where Ryuji left it." Arthur paused, this time for effect. "This means that someone intercepted the note that Ryuji intended to put in Miss Elwyn's room, and that Alchie could never have seen it. "
"Again, I never saw the contents of the note, so I'm not quite sure it's relevant, but I've written many stories that hinge on the reveal of seemingly inconsequential information, so there it is. " Arthur shrugged.

Ryuji's face turned a deathly orange color, fumes leaking out of his ears.
"B-Besides, why do you need to know..?" Ryuji asked again. "I-It was waaaayyy before the murder anyways. And Monomi herself just said that the killer didn't hide any relevant evidence in their own room, r-r-right? So it doesn't matter!"
Ryuji's feet began to shuffle wildly, as he shoved his right hand into his coat pocket and shuffled his hat. Ryuji just smiled, whistling into the air, avoiding the gaze of his fellow classmates. As Ryuji attempted to cascade the awkwardness, he realized that his classmates would not avert their gazes -- daggers were aimed at Ryuji from all directions, and Ryuji realized he missed something important. An important part of Arthur's testimony.
"E-eh..? Someone took it..?" Ryuji realized, as the implied accusation of Arthur's statement sunk deeper into his head. His worry was not that he would be outed as a perpetrator to this crime, but more of a genuine embarrassment.
"T-T-THAAAAT MEANS SOMEONE R-R-READ THE NOTE.........?!" Ryuji screamed, horrified. "B-B-BUT!!! I LEFT IT RIGHT THERE! I JUST SLID IT UNDER HER DOOR!!"
After letting the shock sit in, Ryuji let out a soft gasp, as all color flushed from his face. Ryuji slumped into his seat, and lay his face on the desk, his entire aura fading from moderate anxiety, to a complete social shutdown.
"V-V-Very w-well!" Ryuji announced, attempting to save face by forging a fake confidence, which he understood completely would not work. "I-I-I R-Ryuji Arisato, the U-Ultimate Actor, a-am not only a-a top tier p-performer, but also an honest man!"
Ryuji took a deep breath.
"I-I sent Alchie a c-challenge letter! T-to a chess match!!"
Ryuji closed his eyes, fearful of the judgment that would follow after the revelation of such an embarrassing secret.
"B-but this doesn't make seeennnnse..!" Ryuji moaned, completely dejected. "I-I swear I *hic* sent it right under Alchie's door..! U-Unless Alchie read, which was impossible because Alchie hadn't returned to her r-room when I slid the letter under the d-door, someone h-had to break i-into Alchie's room to t-take it..!"
[P.S. I PM'ed you Sayako about something, no one else has to worry about this but JesusMonroe and I made a sliiiiiiight change that shouldn't affect anything that's going on right now]

He took a deep breath. "Also, the black paint. I'm pretty sure I didn't see a drop of black paint in the crime scene. This theory about hiding in the dark with it is interesting too, but...none of us have any black paint on us. So how did the killer wash it off when the showers weren't working?"
