Jacqueline lifted her head as some have begun to speak about her. She had a look of confusion and panic all at once but kept herself calm. She didn't want to die . . . she didn't want to know what death was like. The experiences from that book felt so real . . . but she didn't want to believe it. She began to breathe a bit fast, brushing some of her long red hair out of her face.

"R-right I- I uhm . . . I . . ." She gulped, clenching a bit of her dress's cloth in her hands. Hearing that her own daughter was voting for her sent her into an even bigger panic. "W-wait I- I- I can explain everything- t-there's nothing . . . v-valuable f-from what I have f-found, I-I don't think. It w-won't be useful . . . it really won't . . . I-I'm sorry . . ."

"Okay- ah- so-" She closed her eyes, pursing her lips together for a moment before continuing. "I-I visited Twilip on the first night. A-a few people v-visited her. Basil, W-Wyn, a-and Billy. I then v-visited Violet but . . . b-but no one visited her." She stared down at the floor. "I'm sorry. It's all. Useless. It won't do any good."

"That pretty much line up with what we learn, at least. What about in weird story? Do you know who you might have visited then?"

"...Well, considering Twilip died the first night, that does seem like rather important information."

Briggs tilted his head. "Miss Jackie, do you have any recollection from the story about your results from there?"

What Briggs was really asking was if she could post any results she had from the first arc. Meta!

"Wait. Wait a minute!" Robin's eyes grew wide. "Didn't Lucine say that Twilip was killed by a witch?"

"So that would mean - either Billy or Wyn killed her?" She put her hand on her head. "I can't believe it!"

"G-Good point," Zachary agreed, regaining part of his mojo now that he wasn't deprecating himself and having it reinforced. "I was actually thinking it was suspicious that Wyn survived after claiming investigator for a while throughout the story. But I thought someone - maybe Maurice - was protecting her.

"Th-Thanks, Jackie, for giving us some wonderful information to go on." Zachary bowed toward his sister-in-law.

Jacqueline was highly surprised that her words actually meant something. It narrowed everything down . . . she actually helped! She was useful! She felt a small thankful smile curl on her dark red lips.

Jacqueline only nodded slowly to his question, fumbling with her fingers. "Yes, I-I do." She cleared her throat. "On the first night, according to the book, I had visited James. No one visited him, however. I then v-visited Wyn . . . I found that M-Mickey visited her. And then I . . . I d- . . . died." She had a hard time saying the last part, it seems.

She only stared in absolute fear. She couldn't deny that possibility even if she wanted to. She wasn't even sure how to clear herself of suspicion.

"Consider that we can tell if Jackie is correct by simply having someone visit her tonight. Therefore, let's not lynch her. Instead, we should lynch someone else."

Violet pauses. "Although, she could very well be a witch anyway. Somebody toss a coin, please. Heads is Wyn, tails is Jackie."

"The more I think about it... The more I'm unsure about Wyn's innocence," said Robin, looking troubled. "For one thing, she outed Bertram and James immediately, and - after the fact - we found out they're both mortals. And James' ability points to him not being a witch anyway, because why poison someone when you have magic? Meanwhile, despite Twilip being so secretive, Wyn held off on investigating her. She also survived a long time, despite supposedly being a major target. And then - there's the way she votes..." She couldn't help but eye Violet suspiciously at this part.

"It's all circumstantial, and it's possible that Wyn's really mortal, but... The story is so much simpler if you go back through it under the assumption that Wyn is a witch."

She'd furrow her eyebrows, closing her eyes as she crossed her arms. "Hard choices? The only one who has confirmed a vote on me is you and my own daughter! I know I'm aboard the suspicious train, but unfortunately, if I hadn't visited Twilip- none of us would have even known that Basil, Wyn, and Billy had visited her!" She opened her eyes, narrowing them as she continued to stare at Violet. "You can suspect me, wish me dead, flip all the coins you want . . . Violet. But you are far more suspicious than I am, darling."

"I think the points made by me in the story still stand now, perhaps with a little tweaking," Bertram said. "What if Wyn is the Golden Witch, as well as an investigator for the witches? She planned to kill me in the first twilight, but failed because of my immunity. I revealed that she visited me, so despite having investigated someone else, she claimed that I was her investigation target: after all, she already knew of my immunity ability from trying to kill me.

"I admit this is only a theory, and one that doesn't especially change matters, but I feel it's a point worth making," he concluded. "Especially if it means you stop accusing my wife!" He glared at Violet then.

Jacqueline stared with a very disgusted look on her face. She couldn't believe the words flying out of her mouth. What did she know . . . she wasn't a mother, she was just an oblivious CHILD. "Okay, sweetie. Keep speaking as if you know what you're talking about. Lucine is doing the best thing she could EVER do for her own mother!! If she wholeheartedly believed that I was a witch, then voting to kill me off despite being my daughter would be the best thing she could do for everyone's safety!!! And I know making that choice is hard, but killing one life to save many is the most logical response. I'd rather be voted by my OWN DAUGHTER THAN TO LIVE KNOWING I WAS EVER CAUSING HARM TO THOSE AROUND ME!!!!" She threw her hands in the air, tears welling up in her eyes. "you know nothing, Violet! Perhaps open your heart a little . . . perhaps actually show some kindness for once in your life."

Her demeanor seemed to completely change as she turned to look at Lucine, a caring smile gracing her lips. "Thank you, my love. I didn't think it would be useful . . . but I'm glad it was." She seemed a bit relieved that Lucine retracted her vote for Jacqueline, despite . . . everything she said to Violet.

"I only 'outed' Bertram because he immediately accused me of being suspicious. And forgive me if I think that someone going around poisoning others is suspicious, especially considering the state of the bodies of the dead. And is poison really such a stretch from witchy practices? Really?"

"Held off investigating Twilip? I only investigated Basil before Twilip because he was the only person who hadn't revealed his abilities in our group. Is that such a suspicious move?"

"As for why I've lived so long, I have already suggested an explanation for that. This is truly such a desperate attempt to frame me, darling." Wyn shakes her head. "Honestly, everyone would gain more from sparing me than from killing me, thanks to the information I provide. The ones who gain the most from my death are the witches, but by all means, vote away. Something tells me I'll be back again in this wretched storybook curse. You can only get rid of me for so long, darling."

Violet tilts her head.

"The best thing a child could do to her mother is vote for her to be killed? Clearly I've been doing this wrong all along."

She turns to Billy and sighs. "I don't expect her to be the only one to try and prove my claim. Two more people have the ability to do so. I don't really believe Jacqueline to be clueless either. We have stated many times that claiming is important. Moreover knowing who visited who is so obviously good that I can't reasonably say that someone would think it to be useless."

"If her mother has a possibility of hurting or killing people, then yes. It's most logical to take one life to save many, even if it's someone you love. After all, I'm sure Lucine knows that's what I would want as well. I wouldn't want to live knowing I was causing anguish." She stated simply.
