"Congratulations, it's a girl..." Klifford said, more than a little bewildered by Nail's transformation.

"Wait, but, if you sabotaged the car, and the crash killed Ciro, then that makes you the culprit," Brandy deduced. "Unless the crash isn't what killed him? Maybe he was poisoned, or somethin' if that's the case. That's all I can think of that makes sense."

"Matt finished his beer and put it down hard, drank another and also put that down, finally began rubbing his neck."

"Well, already hate the she devil bitch more then the lot of ya, new record in my book... feel like strangling your ass due to fucking up that car, but for now mind giving your side of the damn events that happened?"

"Yes, he did." Benjamin answered. "And just so there's no misunderstanding, I did see his face. It was not Haley." He seemed a bit surprised at Nail's transformation initially but didn't take long to pivot himself back to normalcy.

"Sure thing, cutie-pie!" Haley winked at Matt, and snickered.

"So, let's see... around 2:30-ish, I started bugging Nail to let me out. Gave him one hell of a headache, so he used the teleportation circles. Drew one in his blood in his hospital room and drew another on his whiteboard, chucked the damn thing out his window, warped between the points, and headed for the bowling alley with his whiteboard in tow. Needed it to get back, after all.

"So he went into the bathroom, and he let me switch out with him. Must've still been bleeding a bit, and I didn't notice the hair come out. Oh, well. That part's not important.

"What is important is that I had free reign to do whatever the hell I pleased... for about ten minutes. So I decided to make the most of it, and spiked a bowling ball into the arcade machine. It set the damn fire alarm off, so I went out the fire exit. Didn't see a reason why not, the alarms were already going off. Ended up walking through a puddle of oil.

"I then wandered the alleys for a while, then felt like I was being followed. The digger girl in the mask had taken some liberties with the historical society, masking them all, so I used Nail's mask from the celebration to blend in. Saw Daniel and Ivan shortly thereafter, walkin' around and doing some snooping. Probably trying to find me. They talked about something for a bit after they snooped, but I didn't hear one lick of it. They left after that.

"Then came the real fun part. I wandered again for a while, coming up on the garage where someone's pride and joy was sitting, just waiting to be messed with. So I messed with it. Cut the brake fluid line with a tube cutter, and used a whole shitton of glue on the accelerator pedal so it'd stick real easy and go real fast.

"After that, I went back to the bowling alley, tapped out, and Nail redrew his super-special circle. Not sure who erased it, but eh. And that's my story~"

"Okay, so, maybe that was the result of bein' poisoned," Brandy suggested. "If the crash didn't kill him, then Haley isn't the culprit even though she tampered with the car. But, that means someone else possibly poisoned Ciro."

"In other words, you are a criminal, and your Nail personality isn't. How clever. One would suspect the hulking demon to be stroked with the hands or crime."

Ivan pointed his baton at 'Haley.' "...But maybe we're not so different. I have been touched with sin just like you. To catch criminals like yourself."

"You are a witch, demon! Stay away from me!" Daniel is evidently afraid of this thing.

"Anyways. If the cook was poisoned it had to be the police station poison. Couldn't the pufferfish guts have been poisoned with it? As far as I recall they're only poisonous when ingested, but with the other poison they'd be poisonous on touch. The cook would think it safe, but he'd be killin' himself. Why was he not wearing gloves, though? Dumb kids."

"If Ciro was poisoned by strychnine, that would explain how he died," Seb said. "Benjamin said Ciro was struggling to turn the wheel, but Matt hadn't had issue with that, that wasn't part of Haley's sabotage. So, perhaps his muscles were spasming as a result of strychnine poisoning, and as a result he couldn't move his arms to turn the wheel, and couldn't stop the car from hitting the wall. It makes more sense than him happening to succumb to the poison just before the car crashed. And I suppose it would mean the poisoner is the one more responsible for Ciro's death, even though Haley was the one who sabotaged the car."

Micah sinks into her mask, taking in the spectacle, shaking.

"Oh... wow... So there's people like this in Rattlewater. It makes sense though, considering the history that this place has with a demon. I've definitely seen old carvings of people changing shape. I assumed, of course, that it was mythological and didn't have such a concrete basis in reality."

"And yet, here we are!"

She seems weirded out and yet manic with excitement.

Belphegor clears his gravelly throat.

"THERE IS A MEDICINE NAMED PANACEA, WHICH CAN BE MADE USING THE COMPOUNDS IN PUFFERFISH POISON. IT IS CAPABLE OF CURING MANY BAD DISEASES AND POISONS. NONE OF IT WAS AVAILABLE IN THE HOSPITAL."

"Just something I think you should all know."

"I might be very off-base here, but something else that strikes me as odd is Ciro's autopsy. We know he was knocked out shortly before the crash, and the last thing I saw happen to him was his head hitting the steering wheel. I can only assume that was the crash, but does this mean he was knocked out earlier?"

"Here, I'll say it," Belphegor says to Benjamin.

"CIRO WAS NOT CONSCIOUS AT THE TIME OF IMPACT."

"NOBODY EXCEPT SOMEONE TRAINED IN MAKING PANACEA WOULD KNOW HOW TO MAKE IT. ONE WRONG MOVE AND THE CONCOCTION WOULD BE DEADLY. ONLY ONE OF THE TWELVE OF YOU KNEW OF SUCH A MEDICINE AT MIDNIGHT LAST NIGHT."

"Haley, I'm sorry but sometimes it only makes sense that I bring in witnesses to be questioned. Also I'm not sorry."

“Ciro was unconscious?” Benjamin’s eyes widened at the revelation. “Then were his hands glued to the steering wheel? Seems like we would’ve noticed that, but I don’t see another way he could’ve been gripping it.”

"Was Ciro burning notes about panacea in the restaurant kitchen?" Seb theorised. "Maybe Klifford was making notes about the medicine in his search for a way to help Shizune, and Ciro found them. Wasn't Klifford's office strangely lacking in reports, or some such thing? Ciro might have also been the one who searched through the medicine storage."
