"Rules," Cain muttered. "Are the rules posted somewhere they can be read? Doubtless they're in this useless device," he concluded, pulling out his handbook. Feeling for any buttons, he tried to figure out how to turn it on. Though he couldn't see it when the screen lit up, he could hear it when a voice began to speak.

"Welcome, student, to Hope Peak's Prison School. You have been specially selected to participate in Monokuma's Killing Game! Before you begin, there are a few rules."

The voice proceeded to list the game rules, and Cain listened intently, committing it to memory.

"The rules specifically state destruction of cameras and Monokuma is prohibited, but there has been a second figure speaking to us - Monomi they are called, correct? I presume they are also prohibited from destroying."

There aren't any obvious hiding places here other than the boathouse or the upper floors of the academy, which we have been unable to investigate so far. But we can rule out the boathouse since there would be no need for the culprit to have their fingerprints on there otherwise, and they could also be easily spotted. The second floor is also suspect as it is blocked off for renovations. But..." She stopped to take a look at the others.

"You could well be right, but again the bear's words seem suggestive. 'My fingerprints are already registered. I can leave whenever I want. I have all 16 of your fingerprints on hand. Granting anyone access is as easy as going vegan.' Specifying 16 like that makes it sound like the mastermind is separate from the 16 of us."
