Seeing as nobody was interested in taking Kagayaki up on her offer to talk, she quietly excused herself from the group. She made her way back up to the time machine room and walked over to the strange metal trunk there. She knelt down before it, took out a paperclip she'd picked up along the way, and attempted to open the lock.

Casey teeters awkwardly than spins to leave the room with her bat. Later, she finds Kagayaki at the metal trunk.

Casey sits around, offering help to Kagayaki when it looks like she needs it.

"Dammit. I can't believe the unlocking boys keep losing to a buncha stupid locks! This really doesn't feel very fair, does it? If there's a damn lock we should be able to break it!"

Casey leaves the time machine room, with a high-five to Kagayaki, heading away.

The next time she's seen, she's got one of the wheely chairs from the programming room, and she's pushing it up and down the hotel room hallway. Each time she rockets down it, she wipes out on one end or the other.

Shirly left the room and went down to the swimming pool. Upon arriving, she changed into a light blue bikini and jumped into the water. She lay on her back, and did a nice relaxing backstroke.

Kagayaki bowed to the retreating Casey, then after looking around the room a bit more, followed her out. She descended to the hotel room floor and headed for the pool, flattening herself against the wall as Casey rolled past. She switched into the same black swimsuit she'd worn before at the changing room, then entered the pool room proper, slightly surprised to see someone else there. She decided to sit at the edge of the water and soak her legs while watching Shirly.

Shirly sensed someone looking at her and stopped swimming. She looked up and saw Kagayaki. She breathed a sigh of relief, thankful that it wasn't Akio. Shirly waved at Kagayaki and went back to swimming.

A half hour or so after Kagayaki passes her in the hallway, Casey begins to feel anxious. After one more ride, she sighs.

"They're really hanging out in the pool, huh? That... really sucks."

She sits there for a while, the joy of messing around fading rapidly. She quietly kicks open the door to her room, pushing the rolly chair into a corner.

"Alright well... I guess it's better late than never..."

She goes over to the dresser and gets changed, putting on her bikini and t-shirt.

Timidly, she arrives at the pool.

"H-hey guys. Uh... I'm gonna try to get good at swimming over here, okay? So uh... You know, stop me if you hear me starting to die. I should be okay though. I'm not Akio, dammit."

She screams as she jumps over the side in fear. She surfaces and doggy-paddles her way back to safety.

"What the hell?! How do people do this!?"

"Swimming is much like riding a bicycle in that the skill comes naturally once you have learned it," Kagayaki called out to Casey from where she remained seated. "I am watching in case of an emergency, so as long as you do not act recklessly or panic, you have nothing to fear. Might I suggest practicing near the edge of the pool until you are confident enough to brave the deeper waters?"

Casey sighs. The last part of her words land with little conviction. She grips the side of the pool so hard her knuckles are white. She tries to steady her breathing, but she can't help but cry a little.

"Well, thanks for keeping me safe, Kagayaki... I'm gonna keep trying... Keep having fun lifeguarding or whatever..."

She walked over to the wall where the boards were stacked, grabbed one, then squatted by the pool edge close to where the other two swam and released it with a gentle push towards Casey. "It takes a much stronger person to acknowledge their weaknesses and attempt to overcome them than to avoid them altogether."

Casey let's out something akin to a scream before flopping off the board into the water. After a brief struggle under the water, she manages to get back on. When she surfaces, it becomes clear what the scream was: laughter.

"Hell yeah Anissa! Ain't that right!"

Casey coughs and gasps for air, but she still keeps on laughing.

"That's the most damn inspirational thing I ever heard. I would be proud to die on this particular hill, and you're right, at least I'd die tryin' my best dude! Die surrounded by friends while trying to better myself. Hell yeah!"

Casey continues to cackle for over a minute.

After a long practice session, Akio decided he'd cool down at the pool. Because the others already went through that bit, he assumed he'd be alone, free from embarrassment as he wore some duck shaped floaties and swimming goggles.

To his dismay, there were many there...perhaps too many to see his childish attempts at floating.

The look of utter disbelief took a second to vanish from Kagayaki's face. Immediately after, she hurriedly grabbed the rope, tied it to the closest ladder to Akio, and once again jumped into the pool to fish him out.
