"My interview went kinda like this..." Skylar said.

Spoiler:
“Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry. Ready to start?” Taylor asked.

“Ms Watson? What are you smoking now, Taylor?” Skylar asked in response, raising an eyebrow. “You know, girlfriends hate it when you get their name wrong. You should watch out for that in the future.”

“...Sorry. So then, what can you tell me about Project Eden?” Taylor asked abruptly.

Skylar answered with what she knew, then responded to the other questions Taylor had. They were quite varied, but something was… off. He kept ignoring her, it seemed, and sometimes it was like he was just speaking to an inanimate object rather than a real person. Still, soon it was over, around 15 minutes after it had started.

“Thanks. That should be all, I won’t hold you any longer,” Taylor said.

“Great, thanks. Uh, see you later then?” Skylar said, before leaving. She didn’t get a reply.

"Yeah, that sounds about right."

"Let's see..." Honda said, recalling his interview. "Mine went something like this."

Spoiler:
“Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry, Honda I mean. Ready to start?”

“...Did you just… confuse me for a girl?” Honda asked in amusement.

“No, no, just been a long day is all. And trust me, I know what it’s like to be unfairly compared to a girl. Sorry,” Taylor replied sheepishly.

“No worries,” Honda said, laughing. “Anyway, yes, I’m ready.”

“Great! So then, what can you tell me about Project Eden? Stuff from before, stuff you found out yesterday, whatever really.”

The interview went well, Honda thought. Taylor asked various questions after that, covering a variety of topics. Soon it was over, and the Ultimate Agent seemed happy with the results.

“That’s all. Thanks, man, really. This might actually work,” Taylor said.

“I sincerely hope it does,” Honda replied with a smile. “Well then, if you’ll excuse me...”

"...And that's about it."

Rose listens to Skylar's retelling of the interview and nods her head. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure those responses were...automated, somehow. Robo-Taylor, maybe." She adds. "Honda's seems pretty normal, though."

"Okay, I think it went more or less like this..." Althea dialogue tagged, copy and pasting the interview.

Spoiler:
“Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry, Ms Agnes. Ready to start?” Taylor asked. He was inside Eve’s room, separate from Althea, speaking through a speaker that could only be heard in the lab. There was a locked door separating them both.

“Er, yes! Yes, I am ready, yes,” Althea confirmed, quite bewildered by the whole affair. “I, er, didn’t expect you to be in a different room from me. It makes this, ah, rather intimidating!”

Taylor chuckled. “Sorry about that. Just a basic security measure is all. Now then, what can you tell me about Project Eden? Just, er, humour me on this, please,” he added with another awkward chuckle.

Althea answered as best she could, and then Taylor asked some more questions. They covered a variety of topics, leaving her quite confused as to the intention behind all this. Still, before long it was over, having lasted just 15 minutes.

“Thank you for your time, Althea. That was, er… useful, thanks,” he said, not really sure how to close this.

“No problem! C-can I put the mask back on now, though?” Althea asked. Taylor had insisted she take it off for the interview, for some reason.

“Yeah, go ahead. But hey, look at it this way: think of this as practice for taking the mask off around other people more often! You’ve been doing great so far,” Taylor said kindly.

“Ah, thank you! Thank you, yes, I’ll, I’ll work on that, yes,” Althea replied, though she hastily stuck the mask back on regardless. “I, ah, I’m going to go have a quick lie down now, if that’s alright…”

"Interesting... Taylor wanted you to take your mask off?" Evelyn asked. "How strange...judging by the cameras in the science lab, he must have wished to see your face, for whatever reason. I wonder what he needed that for, though."

"In any case, my interview went like this", Evelyn clarified.

/woowoowoowoowooFLASHBACKTIMEwoowoowoowoowoo/

Spoiler: The Interview
“Oh, sorry, did I make you wait? Er, let’s get started straight away, then.”

“It’s alright,” Evelyn replied politely. “Though I’d like to get back to the arena as soon as I can to finish my robot.”

“I’ll be quick, don’t worry. And, er, sorry for disrupting the tournament. I heard it was your idea?”

“I thought it would be the perfect bonding exercise!” Evelyn said proudly.

“Yeah, it’s a great idea, honestly. Er, now then Ms Watson… er, sorry, Ms Scythe, what can you tell me about Project Eden? Whatever comes to mind.”

Evelyn answered to the best of her ability, wanting to be helpful. After the first question came a variety of others, covering a wide span of topics. Quarter of an hour later, at 13:05, the interview was over.

“Thanks, Evelyn. That should be all, I won’t hold you any longer,” Taylor said.

“No problem! Hope this helps, whatever it is you’re doing,” Evelyn replied. She then left.

"As you can tell, my interview also went quite smoothly. He asked me about the tournament, proving my conversation wasn't pre recorded. Hopefully this helps in some way or another."

"Actually, I just remembered", Evelyn double posted. "Althie, you said that you heard someone moving in the lounge when you were dizzy earlier, yes? This is...rather important. We didn't discover anything of note in the lounge, so I doubt the room itself was relevant to the murder. It is a hub point of sorts in this place, though, meaning that it had to be someone passing through it to another place... the question is now who it was. It was between 12:20 and 12:40, so... Taylor was busy conducting his interview with Annabella for most of that time, and he wouldn't have needed to come out then... even if he did leave a minute or so before the interview started, Annabella would have noticed him absconding. Annabella herself was busy with the interview as well... Since nobody else mentioned leaving the robot lab at any point before the interview, this means they hid it intentionally. Ergo...it must have been the killer Althie overheard", she deduced grimly.

"As for their reasons for doing so, it must have been to go to the archive. It is impossible to go there without passing through the lounge, after all, since Eve's room was locked from the other end. And then they had to go to Eve's room using the broken door and hide within the locker, waiting for the opportunity to kill Taylor. Of course, this doesn't quite explain how they managed to sneak into the locker without Taylor noticing, but I'm assuming they had to wait it out. More importantly, this raises the question where they came from. Since everyone else was at the robot lab, this makes them rather prime suspects... those being me, Rose, Nana, Honda and Skylar. This adds up rather well, as the plasma gun did come from the robot lab."

"Obviously, I have an alibi for the current timeframe as mentioned before, so I think it's safe to rule me out. Of course, I deny any allegation that I am the killer or the mastermind", she said nonchalantly, dismissively shaking her head. "Since Nana was waiting outside the science lab till Honda's interview was over- that is, till Taylor was alive, she had no proper opportunity to kill him either. And Rose...if she were the killer, she would have much trouble hiding in the locker while being in a wheelchair. She was also never reported being in the robot lab itself, so...this leaves just Honda and Skylar as suspects, I'm afraid", she finished grimly. "As hard as I find it to believe either of you would do this to Taylor, it seems to be the only possibility. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course, but I'm reasonably confident in my deductions here."

"Umm..." Nana raised her hand meekly. "So... should I still talk about my interview? Or do we not need that anymore...?"

"On another note, we still do need to sort out Taylor's actions fully... The only unexplained part currently is what he was doing earlier when I "witnessed" him at 12:42 going to the archives. He seemed in quite the hurry as well, but when he returned, he walked back calmly. This seems to be the only time he left Eve's room, so it might be crucial to our understanding of the case." Evelyn explained.

"...Actually, there was that hacking device in the archive, so perhaps he wished to delete some information on that one computer there, for whatever reason", she speculated. "It might even have something to do with the disconnected computer in the planning area."

"Now hold on a second," Skylar said while lazily leaning on the podium. "Honda can't be a suspect since Taylor was looking for a woman, as evidenced by him calling everyone 'Ms Watson'. I also highly doubt Honda would kill to cover for someone else, so let's just toss that idea out the window before anyone thinks about it. Now, it couldn't have been me because, well, I was designing my robot the whole time. My poor Charizard..."

"I suppose the timeframe makes it quite impossible for him to have done it as well", Evelyn agreed. "I'm admittedly a little sceptical of the timeframe when you were working the robot lab, though, mainly because of the lack of eyewitnesses there. This technically applies for all of us there, I suppose."

"So, um, when I first went in, Mr. Taylor said, 'Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry. Ready to start?' That kind of confused me, so I said 'What? I’m not ‘Ms Watson’, I’m Nana Izumi… Right? Or do I have a new name now?' But he just said, um, '...Sorry. So then, what can you tell me about Project Eden?'

"Not to be crude, but there's no real way to know if Honda is female. I don't think anyone here has seen him...down there. He could still be lying about his identity, although I doubt it." Rose points out.

"So for the most part, it did seem to be automated with him, but the last two lines were played back for some reason... could it be that someone was playing it back at that time? In which case, it had to be either Taylor or his killer... but since Taylor would have no need to play it back physically as he could respond normally, it had to be the killer who responded... So this implies Taylor could have died already by that point. Curious indeed! It does help narrow down the TOD quite significantly, though!"

"...going back to Taylor's actions," Annabella decided she'd rather not ask Honda to do that. "He was probably using the disconnected computer. Honda said he recognized files on it. I think the killer used the hacking device. Think about it: the killer is most likely Ms. Watson. When she realized someone found her true identity, she needed to kill those who knew and delete all the information on her."

"That adds up well enough", Evelyn agreed. "That might also have been what they had come for in the archive as well, when they passed by Althie. They could remove all that data and then hide out in that locker in Eve's room. It would be an effective method of killing two birds with one stone!"

Nana tapped the side of her face. "Um, are we sure I heard a playback? Maybe Mr. Taylor was just distracted or something..."

"He said 'No, no, that’s all, thanks' twice. Same choice of words and everything", Evelyn reminded her. "Plus, the recording of it was on a device, so it had already been made by that point and used for that purpose. So he would have already said thatbefore, and since it was prerecorded it would be easy for the killer to go back a few seconds and replay that particular line with the device."

"Hmmm...let me think back..."

Spoiler:
“Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry, Ms Hale. Ready to start?” Taylor asked.

“Sure, go ahead,” Annabella replied blandly, hopping down onto a seat. “I wasn’t doing anything anyway.”

“Sure. I’ll try to be quick, anyway,” Taylor said. “Now then, what can you tell me about Project Eden? Just in your own words, please.”

Annabella answered the question, then the rest that Taylor asked. They were varied and covered a broad span of topics, but it only took around 15 minutes to get through them all.

“Well, I think that’s everything. Thanks,” Taylor said warmly.

“Don’t you have any questions for Anthony?” Annabella asked in surprise, presumably referring to her doll. “He’s very smart.”

“Er, no, he, er… Anthony doesn’t fit the demographic I’m reviewing?” Taylor replied hesitantly. “You’re free to go.”

Annabella shrugged. “Alright then, if you say so.”

Annabella shook her head. "No, he didn't say it during my interview."

"What if the phrase was taken from two or more separate interviews?" Skylar asked. "It's possible whoever did this mashed together multiple words from every interview up to that point to try and get a versatile response."

"Ah, I believe you got it, Skylar!" Evelyn suddenly cheered. "Take a look at Honda's interview!"

Joker wrote:
“Ah, hello Ms Watson… er, sorry, Honda I mean. Ready to start?”

“...Did you just… confuse me for a girl?” Honda asked in amusement.

No, no, just been a long day is all.

That’s all. Thanks, man, really. This might actually work,” Taylor said.

“I sincerely hope it does,” Honda replied with a smile. “Well then, if you’ll excuse me...”

"It adds up perfectly! The killer must have somehow recorded the previous interviews and used lines from them to their advantage, to make it sound like Taylor!" Evelyn deduced. "That explains that quite nicely, I suppose. The recording device must have been for that purpose. Even the quote about not holding you any longer... that was from my interview, I believe."

"Alright, so we figured out that his lines were, without a doubt, recorded for use after his death. All that's left is to figure out at what point he died, and who could have the opportunity to do it," Skylar affirmed. "There's a lot of fishy shit going on with this murder."

"Well... Mr. Taylor was definitely still alive when he talked to Mr. Honda, right? And the killer probably snuck into Miss Eve's room when Mr. Taylor went to the archives room, right? Er, unless that wasn't really Mr. Taylor, I guess..." Nana frowned. "Maybe it was the killer dressed up like him with the spare clothes? Oh, but that would still be at the same time, I guess, so... someone who was missing then?"

"Okay, simple enough. Who could be the missing link, then?" Skylar questioned. "It seems like answering that one question could solve this case."

"We haven't talked about the flooded dock and diving suit yet." Annabella pointed out. "Did the killer do something with those? I don't quite see how they could have if they were also in the archive deleting files. And I don't know what use Taylor could have had with them."

"Did we ever figure out how the killer was deleting files? Being that they had access to a recording device, might we be able to assume they could have used something to delete the files that didn't require them being there?" Skylar wondered aloud. "I mean, if our killer is the mastermind, it wouldn't be shocking that she has access to weird shit."

"Well, there clearly is something going on with those... The empty diving suit underwater is quite perplexing", Evelyn admitted. "Perhaps to mislead us, they simply came out and then threw back the suit in? I suppose they could have gone to one of the docks there too, but they would also need someone to open the door for them."

"There was, like, some kind of deleting machine thing next to one of the computers, right? Maybe the killer plugged it in to get Mr. Taylor to go check it out so they could sneak into Miss Eve's room while he was gone?"

"Yes, I believe that was apparent. They simply had to put in the device into the computer and Taylor's PDA would notify him of the unusual activity. That would perfectly explain why he was in such a hurry when I saw him!" Evelyn nodded. "If they were in the same room though, would they have been easily able to sneak into Eve's room without Taylor realising? I suppose the presence of so many cubicles could maybe have made their job easier, but I only saw Taylor return from the corridor walking simply. And it had to be him only, as he then called me and told me to enter the science lab through the speaker. So I did not notice anyone else enter Eve's room other than him...how peculiar", she murmured. "There couldn't have been another way in, could there?"

"...Actually, wait!" Evelyn double posted. "I just realised something... Even when 'Taylor' returned three minutes later and beckoned me inside the lab, he didn't actually start the interview for five whole minutes. Could that be because I didn't actually see Taylor after all, but someone wearing his clothes and acting like him? Was it them who made me enter the lab while they went and hid inside the locker? That would mean the real Taylor finished removing the one computer from the network and then came back five minutes later, not realising the fake had entered previously. This would add up very well, wouldn't it?" She postulated.

Skylar nodded. "That explains the clothes in the locker, as well as how the killer eventually shot Taylor. It looks like they took advantage of your monocle being broken to pull it off."

"Yes, my condition was made public. To think accident in the bath room was used by them like that..." Evelyn sighed morosely. "How cruel this mastermind must be to do such a thing."

"So, um..." Nana furrowed her brow. "If that's all true, then, like, how did the killer leave Miss Eve's room without being seen?"

"They could go by the science lab door, simple", Evelyn responded. "From the science lab cameras in the main console, they could tell if nobody was there. Then they had to leave and go to the robot arena... Though, actually, wouldn't Rose have noticed them? Hmm." She scratched her chin. "Maybe there is more to this after all. Could they have used the diving station, maybe? Hmm..."

"I think it'd be foolish to ignore that as a possibility. Perhaps the killer did, in fact, make use of the diving station. That would explain how they managed to move around without being seen," Skylar added.
