Suyin hoists the hammer over her shoulder and steps into the room. The rest of the group follows her.
Meanwhile, Amethyst, Taikong, and X hang back in the server room, watching Monk step inside.
Down in the grand hall, Fujisaki steps inside the tent that serves as the war room. Amandi follows him inside, along with Juanli, whose expression hardens as her hand lingers in her bag.

“It appears the Battle of Wood has begun,” Yang begins, “Allow me to add some additional clarifications to the rules.”
“All forms of communication between rooms will be shut down for the duration of the battle. That includes the screens in the playroom.
“Groups will receive their battleship puzzles on the screens in their rooms; however, they will not submit their answers there. In order to avoid interference from other group members, team leaders will travel alone to the dungeon terminal to submit their answers. You will travel to the terminal when I call your name. If a leader fails to arrive, their room will be locked down and the key will be given to whatever group has precedence.
“If a group is betrayed by both of the other groups, the Meridian Gate to their room will be changed into an Afterlife Gate. The vent between the Dragon and Monkey rooms will also collapse. The gate will only return to normal if all members of the betrayed group die.
“Make your choices wisely.”
[You will now be sent QTs with your group. The phase will end when a decision is reached. Don’t worry if you are stumped by your puzzle; the final outcome of the game is far more important than whether you actually succeed in solving it.]

Fujisaki left the tent alone. He strolled purposefully toward the dungeon, perfectly set in what he planned to do.

Amethyst left the room. Taikong and Monk followed close behind her. The two of them stopped as she passed into the throne room and watched from a distance, ensuring she made it back safely. Monk remained by the door, taking a drag on a cigarette.

“Lady Sheep, please submit your answer.”
Monk watched as Suyin left the playroom, twirling the hammer over her shoulder. She eyed Monk cautiously and walked away from him, disappearing from view. Monk decided to return to the server room.

“Congratulations, the battle has been won.
“The Wood key will be awarded to Suyin. This key opens the large door in the entrance hall. A Meridian Gate stands just beyond that opening. Only four players may pass through before it changes into an Afterlife Gate. After the first player passes through, the gate will remain open for only twelve minutes before closing permanently.
“I hope you enjoyed the Zodiac Game.”
After this, Yang was silent. Was this truly the end?
In the entrance hall, Fujisaki stepped out of the tent, his brow furrowed in aggravation. He stood in front of the door, as if preparing for something.
“Ow, that hurts!” Sunny screamed, “Let go of me!”
Suyin rushed down the entrance hall, the bottom of her dress hiked up to keep it out of the way. Sunny was slung over her shoulder, and Mao followed closely behind, firmly grasping the hammer in his hands.
Once they reached the entrance of the hall, Mei rounded the corner, out of breath.
“Quick, someone stop them! They’re gonna rush the fucking door!”
Fujisaki needed no further prompting. He charged toward the incoming group, knocking Mao to the floor. His hammer clattered to the ground.
At this moment, Amethyst’s group entered the scene.
“Shit, shit, shit!” Taikong eloquently remarked as he charged into the fray. Behind the group, X laughed quietly.
Hearing the commotion, Juanli and Amandi exited the tent just in time to see Suyin scan the Wood Key on the card reader. The massive doors began to swing open, revealing the sunrise through a Meridian Gate.
Suyin ran to the door, only to get bowled over by Taikong. She dropped Sunny, who fell roughly to the floor, and then Suyin stumbled to the side…collapsing right through the Meridian Gate. A loud beep tore through the commotion as she entered.
“One player out of four admitted. The door will close in twelve minutes,” an automated voice said.
Suyin slowly got to her feet and stared at the others from beyond the gate. Strands of hair fell wildly across her mask. She smiled.
[Several players will be sent choices privately. These choices will decide what happens next. Keep in mind that some players are required to remain in the facility for the sake of later events in this timeline. Still, the outcome of this section will change drastically based on player actions.
You may post, of course, but avoid taking particularly dramatic measures unless I give you the go-ahead.]

With Mao's free foot, he kicked at Sunny. It seemed he was doing his best to get the boy through the exit gate.

Then X broke for the door, and the dominoes began to fall.
Amethyst started moving, though not towards the exit. She instead headed toward the hammer lying unused on the floor.
Seeing X move, Amandi raced for the door as fast as a hemiplegic man could. Juanli sprinted towards Sunny, gaining the lead.
Finally gaining the upper hand in the fight with Fujisaki, Mao hurled the other man off his chest and got to his feet. He smiled and headed toward the exit where Suyin was waiting.
Monk seemed to hesitate for slightly too long, but soon he too joined the mass exodus out of the facility.
Taikong appeared frozen in place in front of the door, trying to get a grip on the situation. He saw Zhang approaching and threw himself in front of her, but she managed to weave past. Then he spotted Amandi and succeeded in grabbing him.
“Stop!” he screamed, “We need to discuss this like adults!”
“You idiot!” Amandi roared, “X just slipped behind you! I can’t leave her out there!”
Taikong glanced behind him as X crossed the threshold. She smirked and waved at the group with just her fingers as she backed away from the entrance hall.
“Two players out of four admitted,” the automated voice continued.
Juanli crouched on the ground and checked Sunny for injuries. Monk arrived at the same spot and pulled the child to his feet. He patted him on the back.
“Quick. Get out, kid!”
Sunny looked uncertainly at the door then turned and tugged on Juanli’s sleeve.
Meanwhile, Suyin and X were arguing loudly as Mao barrelled down the hall toward them, holding out a hand to scoop up Sunny.
But his path was blocked by Amethyst, who stepped in front of him and lifted up the hammer.
“Not so fast, gramps,” she spat, swinging it up into his chest.
Mao screamed in pain and collapsed to the floor. He was alive but struggling to breathe. Amethyst smiled and tried to strike a cool pose with the hammer.
“Get out of my way!” Amandi screamed, shoving Taikong aside and breaking for the door.
Monk and Juanli exchanged suspicious glances. Monk watched Amandi approach, and his expression hardened.
Monk stepped between them, grabbed Sunny, and ran for the door. Sunny screamed loudly as Monk ran off. Juanli’s eyes widened in horror, but she quickly got to her feet and chased Monk down.
Juanli leapt toward Monk and Sunny, knocking him to the floor. Sunny fell out of Monk’s arms and across the threshold, but Suyin reached down to catch him.
“Three players out of four admitted.”
Monk crawled across the floor, desperately reaching one arm out.
“Four players out of four admitted.”
Monk smiled. His bracelet had entered the door.
With a whine, the Meridian Gate turned black.
At that, Juanli cursed and let go. Amandi threw down his cane with a clatter. Taikong slammed his fist on the floor. Monk got to his feet and walked toward the others. Then he turned around.
On the other side of the Afterlife Gate, Monk, Suyin, X, and Sunny stood together. The others gathered in front of the gate, staring in anger, horror, and jealousy at the group that had just secured their escape.
Was there anything left to be done?
[For now, simply react and discuss this development. I’ll continue the plot eventually.]

Once everything is said and done, she merely shakes her head, takes her bag in her hands and steps towards Mao, crouching down to take a better look at the man. After she ascertains that he's mostly fine, she looks back up towards the escapees with a glare and a balled up fist. "If there's one thing you all can fucking do right, it better be getting whatever help you can for the others down here."

"It all happened too fast..." he replied wearily, turning away to assess Amethyst and the rest of the group still inside. "It was a bad call, but my mind was blank at that point. On the battlefield it's pretty clear-cut, but here... I just got overwhelmed." He clearly regretted his actions.
