Alexander West glanced up from the papers he'd been going over. "Okay, Xero. Let's get this show on the road." he said with a smirk, adjusting his tie slightly as he fixed his posture.

"Alright."
The Judge sat for a moment and then spoke.
"Seeing as this is a case of murder in the 1st degree, I see no reason to delay. Prosecution, your opening statement, if you would."

Micheal nodded his head, 'Yes, your honor. Today, we have a man who's evil ways need to be stopped. We have the evidence and witnesses we need to prove his guilt beyond reasonable doubt, all the remains is for the sentence for this monster, so let's not delay, judge.'

Alex glanced between the defense attorney beside him and their client sitting above them. He would have liked to have said "We know, and we're going to prove it." to the man, but he couldn't do that in good conscience, considering his actual career of choice.

"Mr. Chartreux. Please calm yourself, and simply allow Mr. Wright and I to do our jobs." Alex said firmly, feeling that was the closest he could get to reassuring the man.

Ricky frowned. "A-alright... Sorry for the sudden outbreak..." He slumped in his seat and watched at the trial unfolded. He looked over at the Prosecuter. 'This guy looked tough, I can feel there gonna have a tough time...' He thought.

"Defendant, I can sympathize that this may be a rough trial for you, but please be aware that if you don't refrain yourself from further outbursts, I may be forced to remove you from court..."

Clearing his throat, the Judge righted himself in his seat. 'This is going to be a bumpy one.' he though to himself.

"Now, Prosecution. You may call your first witness."

Micheal continued to glare across at the defence, seeming to try and analyze his every movement. Without taking his eyes off the defence, Micheal spoke, 'Your honor, the prosecution would like to call a Mr. Ercatore to the stand, the head detective on this case!'. Micheal waved his hand at the judge in a dismissive manner, 'I assume that's alright?'

"Alright, alright. Here I am," the detective said as he took the stand. "My name is Chief Detective Richard Ercatore of the homicide division. But you'se can call me Rick, capisce?"

"Ok," started the detective. "Here's the basic information."
Image

"The defendant, that'd be Cymric Charteux, is part of the military, see? Mr. victim here, too. Paul Slynx, right?

"Anyways, Cymric's apartment was where the shot was fired from, capisce? There are three major rooms in his apartment: the main room, the bathroom, and Cymric's bedroom.

"The main room has the window overlooking the murder-scene, along with a couch and table. There's also a shelf that Cymric's pistol was on.

"So, ok, the murder-scene is the street outside the apartment complex, called Fresh Winters, see?

"The distance between the gun and target was over 30 feet, capisce? Us detectives found a small gunshot hole in the lower bottom-right of the window facing the street.

"And here's the best part: the murder weapon, along with a receipt for a custom-made scope, was found in the apartment.

"The scope, made specifically for the defendant's gun was also found in the apartment."

"I see. The court would like to accept the murder weapon, scope, and receipt into the Records."

((A small note I would like to present: As the GM, I will frequently post the Court Record along with my post. Until it is updated with new items, you will have to refer to the previous post with the most recent list.))

Current Items in the Court Records:
-Attorney's Badge: 'Nobody would believe I was an Attorney without this,' is inscribed in the back of it. Must be the motto.

-Ricky's "M1911A1 Colt" pistol (Murder Weapon): Fired Once. Registered to the defendant, and has the defendant's finger prints on it.

-Special Scope: Was customized to attach to the murder weapon. Prints located on it, but none can be matched. Apparently special-ordered.

-Receipt: Receipt for custom scope from an unknown company, "G.A.T.O. Corp.". No determinable fingerprints.

"Now, Mr. Wright, you may begin your cross examination of the witness."

shouted Micheal. His arms were still crossed, a smirk across his face as he continued to look over at the defence. 'We don't need to cross examine the detective, he's told us all that we need to know that he was able to find. We don't need to waste the courts time with a cross-examination. your honor. There's no contradictions in that statement!' Micheal clicked his fingers and pointed at Xero. 'Unless, you have something really good? Otherwise we can just send this witness home to a well deserved break. Do you have anything at all? Otherwise... Allow me to call the next witness!'

:objection: shouted back Alex. "Whether or not there are contradictions is not for the prosecution to decide! Mr. Wright still holds his right to cross-examine the witness." He then looked to the side towards Xero, nodding slightly. "I've been studying to be a prosecutor...I know how most of these guys think."

shouted back Micheal, still smirking gleefully. 'While that may be true... 'Excercising your rights' will simply waste the court's time. If we were to excercise every thing we could do within this courtroom we would never leave. For example, I have the right to call ten more witnesses if I wanted to! But that would just be wasting time... And so will this cross-examination, now...'

Micheal clicked his fingers loudly again on his right hand and pointed at the defence.

'You either have something, or you don't... And if you don't, then this witness will continue. Now.'

The Judge cleared his throat.
"Ahem... Mr. Grey, while I appreciate your enthusiasm towards justice, as well as a swift and quick trial... I find it impossible to decide the verdict when I haven't really heard anything!

"I will be the one to determine whether or not the defense's pleas are a waste of our time or not." For a split second, the Judge looked full of vigor and pride.

"Now, Mr. Wright, please make this as quick as you can to appease the Prosecution."

'Hmph'. Micheal looked quite peturbed. He was hoping so hard that the judge would stop the defence from questioning the first part of the detective's testimony. He sighed and realised it wouldn't be that easy.

Xero nodded. "The defense would like to begin the cross-examination." Here it comes... my first trial!

He listened to the detective's testimony. The facts seemed to go with the Court Record, he thought. But something seemed fishy, and he decided to ask a couple of questions.

"The scope, made specifically for the defendant's gun was also found in the apartment."

:holdit:

"Where was the scope found?" asked Xero. "You said that the pistol was found on a shelf, but you never described where the scope was found."

"Ey!" exclaimed Rick. "I ain't said the pistol was found on the shelf, I said the pistol used to be on the shelf. Don't be puttin' words in my mouth, capisce? Anyways, the scope? Yeah, we found it with the pistol on Mr. Killer's window sill. Not a very subtle hiding place, eh?"

"And what about the scope?" asked Xero. He knew he was getting a bit too picky with details, but he wanted to see what he could flesh out about the evidence.

(OOC: Kinda want to note that the defense shouldn't know about the fingerprints until now, since the Detective hasn't said so. Except for the murder weapon now, since he just did.)

Ercatore was beoming somewhat discomforted. "Ehh... the fingerprints, y'say? Well, yeah, there were prints on the scope, see, but, uh... we haven't had time to, uh... to ID them yet, see?"

"Woah, eyy! Take it eas', ah? You'se puttin' words in my mouth again!" Detective Ercatore's discomfort went away. He felt much easier now. "I ain't said we didn't compare 'em, I said we ain't got an ID on the prints on the scope. We ID'd the prints on the pistol because we took a sample of the defendants fingerprints, and they matched. The scope didn't match, capisce? At's why we had to send the prints on the scope to the lab. They'se bein checked right now."

Ouch... I'm not doing too hot at the moment, he thought. Okay, calm down, think over the facts, and let's try this from another angle...

"So the prints on the scope didn't match the defendant's..." said Xero. "But you realize that in order for the defendant to use the scope on the gun, HE would have to put the scope on the gun, correct?"
