"E-earl... They announced your trial would be held a day from now." Soft wails came from the corner as a young woman sobbed. Lifting her head, she faced a man through the glass barrier, tears slowly making their way down her flushed cheeks. Sympathy was evident in the man's features, wishing to be able to comfort the crying figure before him. Releasing a sigh, Earl moved closer to the glass and gave a strained smile. "I'm sorry, Kats. Having to put you through this."

((Mm, continue everyone~ Prosecution, PM me for more details on the case x3
Defense, feel free to drop in to interview both of them, or to eavesdrop if you like. Hahaha.))

Dominic sprinted down the corridor, sliding to a stop in front of the visitor's door, mere inches from the guard. Dominic flashed a grin at him. "Trust me, this door's so much better," he said. He took a few moments to fix himself up as best as he could. He patted his hair down and straightened up his suit. He paid particular attention to his shiny new attorney's badge. Can't believe I'm actually wearing one of these. He didn't like the number of sixes in the registration number. Note to self: if a dead guy comes into the courtroom, run like hell. Unfortunately, he hadn't had time to shave, but he hoped his client wouldn't notice. Fat chance...

Dominic took a deep breath, and opened the door. His client, Earl Noble, was sitting on the other side of the glass. He was talking to a woman, and it took Dominic a moment to recognise her. Katherine White... a maid - does that count as a butler? Dominic was tempted to eavesdrop on their conversation, but he knew that a lawyer needed to trust their client and vice versa. Secrecy was not the way to begin this relationship.

Dominic coughed, interrupting the conversation. "Sorry to interrupt," he said. "Mr Noble, I'm Dominic Roxburghe, the defence attorney you sent for. Would I be able to ask a few questions after you're finished?" He glanced at Katherine. "And for that matter, if I could have a chat with you at some point, Ms. White, that would be very useful, but I think I'll talk to my client first."

((OOC: Brilliant picture, Saori.))

Kitty was in the car, listening to the radio. She was on the way to the crime scene, and smiled as she watched the road and numerous other cars flash by her. She was going ever so slightly over the speed limit; but; let's be honest, who would stop a homocide detective? People tended to imagine various reasons in their heads; exciting murders, perhaps she was being chased; maybe holding a vital piece of evidence. And, if people couldn't be trusted to beleive their own fantasies, she could always resort to flirting. The car screeched to a halt, and she winked at the guards in front of the scene of the crime. Flashing her ID, she wandered in, immediatly begginning to scour the place for clues. Kitty Cathers could find a needle in a haystack with her hands tied behind her back, that's what they said. People could beleive a good rumour. Pity they didn't know that it was Kitty who started it...

Earl weakly smiled. "Don't worry Kats, we'll get through this. As long as fair is fair, we'll get through this....." His voice trailed off as he looked at the tears glistening on Kats face. He hated seeing her like this, and it only made it worse with the fact that he was the cause of it. "Don't cry Kats....M-m-my lawer will get us out of this."

"Y-you're sure Earl?" The tears slowly made their way down the young lady's face, falling in her cupped hands. She looked over her shoulder and saw the attorney. "Well then... I guess I'll let you two talk then..." Katherine stumbled to the waiting area, at the request of the attorney.

Dominic eased himself into the visitor's chair. It was still warm. "Thank you, Mr Noble," he said. "I'll certainly do all in my power to get you acquitted, and that should be enough." Dominic put his briefcase on a desk to the side, and opened it up. He pulled out the court record, a notebook, and a pen. "Well, let's get started then, shall we? Why don't you start by giving me a basic rundown of what you did on the night of the murder, specifically what you were doing at..." Dominic glanced at the autopsy report. "...8:10pm, when Mr King met his unfortunate end?"

A chrome-plated robot walked into the detention center. [So where is the defendant?] It thought to itself, turning his monitor for a head around, trying to locate the defendant.

Earl sat up at the lawyers words. "Okay, at about ten AM I went to the restaurant with Mark and.....Duke." Earl paused at the memory of his lost friend, tears formed in his eyes but he was determined not to show it. By the time I got there I was thirty min's late. After 'bout a hour and a half, we decided to continue our discussion at Duke's house. So we went there." Earl paused for a moment and then added; " I think it was two-ish. At Duke's house we talked a bit, then at three he took us to his room to show us his new pistol. Me and Mark looked at it for a while, I was sure it was a expensive one. we talked more. Then we went to the dinin' hall to have dinner. This was at six I think... So during dinner Duke made us stay at his place, so then Kats went to prepare the guest rooms. After dinner we went to Duke's room to chat some more.
He served us wine, so I think I was a little drunk. when Kats came back, I asked... to marry her." Earl's face lit up with a flash of joy. "But..." His face dropped back down into a sullen frown. "Duke..didn't like it, 'said we were too young! Then...I think we argued 'an stuff. It's kinda foggy right now. I think I went to the guest room to cool my head." Earl shook his head in regret. " I woke when I heard Kats screaming. She said...That duke was lying limp on the garage." Earl shuddered as he remembered to painful sight. "we... called the police an' stuff. And when I tell my story, they arrest me. Just like that." Earl paused. "I hope you can help me. I can't bear to see Kats like this.:

Dominic frowned for a moment as he scribbled frantically in his notebook. Damn it, no alibi, and he's actually got a proper motive. Dominic heard a noise from the door. He turned his head, and blinked. For a moment, he could swear he'd seen a robot peeking through the door. I've been watching way too much anime.

Dominic coughed. "So, Mr King showed you his gun around three. Would that be when your fingerprints got on it?"

Earl nodded. "Yeah, I guess so. But there's something I don't get dude. Mark touched the gun too, he gripped it and pretended to shoot me for laughs. How come he isn't the suspect?"

As Dominic flicked through the court record, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched. He raised an eyebrow as he read the information on the gun. "That's odd," he whispered. Louder, he said, "According to the court record, Mr Kwis' fingerprints weren't found on the weapon. Was he wearing gloves at the time? That's the only explanation I can think of."

Dominic sighed as he pulled out some more documents. "Unfortunately, even if his fingerprints were on the gun, the police would still probably be treating you as the prime suspect." Dominic showed the documents to Earl as well as he could. "This isn't my field of law, but this seems to be Mr King's will. In a nutshell, you get 70% of his money, which is no small amount." Dominic shrugged his shoulders. "Personally, I think that cuts both ways. It's possible that Mr Kwis was angry over the will, but it's just conjecture unless we get some evidence. Do you remember anything... odd that Mr Kwis did on the night of the murder?"

Katherine returned to the visitor's room just in time for Mr. Noble to say,

"Yeah, I guess so. But there's something I don't get dude. Mark touched the gun too, he gripped it and pretended to shoot me for laughs. How come he isn't the suspect?"

Kat sat down next to the attorney and Earl and began to say, "Umm, Mr. Kwis, Mark, does have an alibi. I saw him sleeping at the time of, you know."

Earl turned to Kat. 'What? He was sleeping? Are you sure Kat? Wasn't he there before me on the night of the...murder?"" Earl turned to Dominic as he said "you get 70% of his money" "Woah! that's...Like more than five thousand! Hmm, something odd he did..I'm not sure dude. As far as I remember, he was with us the entire time. And I'm sure he wasn't wearing gloves, because we went to a restaurant at ten, he wouldn't wear gloves while eating...right?"

It took Dominic a moment to get his bearings on the new info he was being bombarded with, but he managed. Those fingerprints must have been wiped, but when and by whom? He quickly jotted down the new information, and stood up. "Well, thanks for that, Mr Noble," he said. "That's all I need from you, so try and take it easy and I'll handle the rest." He turned to face Katherine, and pointed to the door. "Miss White, could we just have a word outside?"

Kitty arrived at the detention centre, looking for the prosecutor. She had never met him - or her - before, and she couldn't find his - or her - name in the record. She thought it would be best to look near the visiting room, and while there, she saw a little robot. "Uh, hello?" she tapped on the metal. Boys and their toys... Wonder who this belongs to? She looked around, but there didn't seem to be anyone there, much less anyone who would own a robot. She saw Dominic coming out, and asked him: "Uhm, I'm looking for a prosecutor, have you seen him?" Kitty had noticed the attorney's badge on the guy's chest, so he must have been a defense attorney. As much as she hated giving information, she had to admit that she needed help. "Oh, and do you know who this robot belongs to? I think it's a toy..."

"Okay, Mr.?" She didn't ask the attorney his name yet, so it would be nice time to ask. Regardless, she got up while waiting for his answer and stationed herself at the door. "Goodbye Earl." She was sad, or more like depressed.

"The name's Roxburghe, maam," Dominic said as he stood up. "Dominic Roxburghe." He walked out the door with Katherine, into the corridor. There he came across a most unusual sight - a woman and a robot. Okay, so the robot was real, and now there's a woman involved with it, too. When did my life get so weird? The woman asked Dominic if he'd seen a prosecutor around. Dominic quickly ran through recent events in his mind, and then shook his head. "No, and I'm actually wondering what prosecutor's been assigned against me in this case. Frankly, I'm hoping for Winston Payne, because, well... you know." She then asked about the robot. "No, I've got no idea where that robot came from, but I have a feeling I saw it spying on my conversation with the defendent. Oh, and are you the detective on the Duke King case, by any chance?"

"Oh, I'm sorry!" Kitty said. "I understand you wouldn't like to be callled a toy... Nice to meet you, Prosecutor Robot. What's your, um, name?" She turned to Dominic, hands on her hips. "And yes, I am the detective in charge. My name is Kitty Cathers. Haven't seen you before, rookie. I better warn you, you'll find it hard to crack my testimony. Now is you'll excuse me I have some issues to discuss with the prosecutor."

"If you'd come with me, Mr. Elbot..." she glared at Dominic, and walked out of the building. "I need to know what information you have on the case, Mr. Elbot. All I have is a standard report, which doesn't really tell me anything." Kitty flicked her hair at this point, it had been getting in her eyes.

Dominic stared at the empty space that the detective and the prosecutor had left. "That was... interesting," he said to no one in particular. Sheesh, they expect me to go up against a robot? Is that even legal? He turned to face Katherine. "Well, Ms White, if you could start by quickly telling me what you did on the night of the murder, that would be very helpful."

Katherine looked at the attorney with a pirecing stare. "If it's to prove Earl innocent then..." She shifted in her seat. "I went to the library at 6:45 PM and tidied up a bit.
After that, I heard the three going upstairs so I grabbed a bottle of whiskey from downstairs and three glasses, since they might be thristy. At about 7:00, the three entered Duke's room and I served the alcohol shortly after. After serving alcohol, I returned to my room and continued reading once more." She stopped to reminisce about that wonderful novel, but continued. "I heard two doors slamming at 7:05 PM and 7:07 PM." Kat took out her planner to make sure the time was right. "I'm sorry Mr. Attorney, I was told not to say anything else."

Dominic sighed. I was afraid of that. "Fair enough, Ms White," he said, "I can't do anything to make you talk here. Of course, if you're brought into court as a witness, you will answer any relevant questions. I've just got two more questions, if you can answer them." Well, one more, but I want to save that for court. "Did you find the body? I can't find any info on that in the court record. Second, if you did find the body, did you notice anything at all unusual about the scene?"

Kat looked puzzled for a second. She said after a pause for thinking, " I was the one to discover the body but it was only initial and from an unsure distance. Considering I was on the balcony and it was night, the real discovery that is was Duke was when Mark, Ear, and myself went downstairs to check on the silhouette. As for anything unusual, it must've been pretty traumatizing but nothing was really "out of the ordinary" as you put it." She paused. "Is that all Mr. Attorney?"

Dominic tapped his pen against his notebook. Interesting... "Yes, I think that will do for now. Thank you for your time, Ms White, and take it easy." Dominic was about to leave when he remembered something. "I'm sorry, but could you give me directions to Mr King's house? I just want to check out some things over there."

((I'll be controlling Katherine White for a bit > u <))

"Ah. Actually, I could go with you if you like. I'm sorry I can't say anything more but-- I'd really like to help if I can. Would it be too much of a bother if I go with you?" The young woman asked, looking down on the polished floor. Uncertainty was in her voice yet it mixed with a vibrant determination. Currently, Katherine White had two things she wanted to accomplish. To help prove Earl's innocence, and to bring the perpetrator to justice.

Dominic's mind dwelled on the proposal for a moment. Defence attorney, investigating a crime scene with a crucial witness - Elbot would have a field day with that. In spite of this, he flashed Katherine a grin, and nodded. "Lead the way," he said. As the pair walked down the corridor, Dominic thought about all that he had heard. Mark couldn't have done it. There's no reason for Katherine to lie for him. So why am I associating with the only other suspect? And what's up with her, anyway? Something... something I can't put my finger on.
