I find it funny that the only song on the GS2 OST that I genuinely dislike is the one that everyone seems to love.

(Objection 2002)

Police Cell ~ Elegy of Surveillance Cameras is also my favorite jail music in the series.

Yeah, Objection 2001 is my favorite one too, with 2004 a bit behind that. 2002 is just too... happy, it feels like, for an objection theme.

JFA's music reminded me of Megaman Battle Network's music. I guess it was the tones and instruments, but that's what I liked about it.

God, I groaned everytime they played that. The only time it really fit the scene was when

Playing it after finding a contradiction in a standard testimony is...out of line.

for about 4 months i truly despised the JFA music, but i've finally come to terms with it, and now i can actually enjoy it.

as for the search ~ core 2002, my favorite time it was used was in case 3-3 when the police station was going crazy trying to fix the computers. it just seemed to fit right. everywhere else, it didn't feel quite right.

While AA's music was a bit better than JFA's, JFA still had great music. I like the Cross Examining, Shelly de Killer, Edgeworth, Engarde, and many others in JFA. I thought T&T had the worst music... most of it is boring and repetitive. I can find quite a few TT songs I like, but the amount is nothing compared to AA and JFA... and it's really funny how some people say JFA Objection theme is too happy, while T&T's is a song you could do the happy dance to and is really repetitive and doesn't feel as intense as the other games.

Inform the Truth has always been my favorite track in the whole series, and Inform the Truth 2002 is simply AMAZING. It always managed to get me so very pumped.

Reminiscence-Fire Carves a Scar will probably always be one of the one most emotional tracks too, even if I'm only on case 3 of T&T right now.

The only two tracks I don't like are the 2002 Objection! and Examination Allegro tracks. The circus music is great, but I can only tolerate it in small doses.

My favourite track has to be the Eccentric track even though it plays when some of my most hated characters are on screen (Oldbag and Ben/Trilo).

This topic was enough for me to finally register an account on this forum. It seems really odd to me that this game is so widely known for having the "worst music", because I felt it was as good as GS1/AA, and some pieces felt significantly better. I'm just going to point out a number of my favorites from this game, and explain briefly why they're good, to me,

The Court theme: I think this one does more for Franziska than any other character in the court. Her being introduced as the new prosecutor, accompanied by this new court theme quickly grew on me. All the instrument choices sound good together to make this theme sound very... "down to business". Dire. Courtroom-ish. Important. I guess that's the best way I can put it.

Objection! 2002: Somewhat displeased at first, this also grew on me. Listening to it the first time, it just seemed like a jumbled version of Objection! 2001, but as it goes on, it starts to distinguish itself. I definitely like Objection! 2001 more, but this one is hardly a step down.

Cornered 2002/Hotline of Fate: I put these two together, since Hotline of Fate is quite obviously a variation of this game's Cornered. Here's where I put the GS2 music on the same level GS1, personally. I love Cornered 2001 to death, really, and it's a part of the soundtrack that defines the series, but I like 2002 just as much. A lot of people think Cornered 2002 is repetitive, and I'll admit that it is. However, I disregard this in light of the fact that it's so fast-paced and fits in so well with the argumentative nature of the trials. In the context of the game, it always seems to play at just the right time, when there's a big breakthrough in the case. There's an adrenaline rush that came with it, and I loved it. 2001 was the same way, but felt a little less... "actiony"(i maek up werds). Hotline of Fate uses the opening beat of Cornered 2002, and plays during some of the most intense moments of the game. Again, repetitive, but perfect that way.

Announce the Truth 2002: Not much to say about this that hasn't already been said.

Search ~ Opening 2002: I like all of the Search themes, honestly. I can't say much about this, since it fulfills a simple purpose. Whenever I listen to it, It feels like "Alright, time to explore/get some information."

Turnabout Sisters' Theme 2002: I know this version plays in GS2 and 3, but I love this theme and Maya. There isn't much to add, it's just... happy.

Eccentric: Deranged, just like the characters it represents.

Shelly De Killer: Ultra badass villain music. Good god. EVERYTHING about this theme embodies Case 4(along with Search ~ Core 2002, that's up next). The piano and guitar work just right and make this sound so freaking sinister. Perfect.

Search ~ Core 2002: I'm pretty sure everyone's played GS2/JFA, but out of forum etiquette, omg spoilarz
Spoiler:
This piece partially symbolizes what makes Case 4 both sinister and intriguing. Betrayal, deception, manipulation. When this music kicks in and Matt smooths his hair back, the evil of the situation sinks deep. The only way you couldn't like this piece if you've never played the game. It's great villain music for a villainous man.

Great Revival(s): Do I have to explain?

End: I love the ending themes, don't you? Each game has one, and each do a wonderful of job of making you reflect on all of the cases and their twists as the characters fill in the short epilogue. Like a good movie, it makes you sigh, feeling both glad, and sad that it's over.

If I had to rank the music of the three games, personally, it would be..

AA = JFA > T&T.

Don't take this as a sign that I don't like T&T's music, because that isn't true. It just had fewer outstanding themes than the others, to me. This isn't the time or place to go into it, though.

I must agree. The Objection theme from JFA just doesn't really appeal to me. I loved the one from AA and the one from T&T is great too. Also, I'm not too fond of the "Examination" song in JFA. Everything else in the JFA soundtrack is awesome, but these two just bothered me a little since they're played very often in the many court scenes :edgy:

Prologue/Wellington's Ringtone - Fanceh classical :godot:

Courtroom Lounge - Probably my favorite of the three PW games.

Trial - Better than AA but not as good as T&T.

Examination - Kinda made me want to fall asleep at times...

Trick and Magic - Way better than Logic and Trick. Good "explaining the crime" music.

Objection! - Meh. Nothing beats the original version.

Cornered - It's not that this version is bad, it's just that T&T's is better and AA's is godly.

Announce the Truth - Badass.

Phoenix's Ringtone - :will:

Jingle ~ Can't Sleep On a Night Like This - The best. YES, THE SAVE PROGRESS TUNE IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ME.

Psyche Lock - Ooo, mystical. I honestly don't pay much attention to it in-game, but it's nice background music.

Search ~ Opening - Ugh, I hate this one. Second least favorite tune in the trilogy.

Turnabout Sisters - Big improvement on the 2001 version (and don't get me started on the Ema version...)

Detention Center - So sad and pretty and yes. Best of the three.

Kurain Village - See my comments on Psyche Lock.

Reminisce ~ The Fire Carves Scars - :larry: :larry: :larry: Awesome. I love emotional tunes.

Eccentric - Always reminds me of :hotti: so that's a good thing.

Gorgeous! - Okay... it serves its purpose, I guess.

Circus - Well, it certainly sounds like circus music...

Congratulations Everybody, Again - This is it. My all-time most hated tune in the trilogy. If it didn't exist I probably would have liked Case 2-3 about fifty times more than I did.

Reminisce ~ True Pain - It's alright. Pales to Fire Carves Scars.

Shelly de Killer - Yay piano. One of the better slow tunes.

Pearl's Theme - Too adorable for words.

Search ~ In the Midst - I've always liked this one, does well at conveying Engarde's "surfer dude" image.

Great Revival - Bleh. I don't like how it makes them seem like superheroes or something.

Hotline of Faith - YES. Great urgency/crisis music.

Search ~ Core - Despite being used way, way too much in T&T, it's awesome. It should have been reserved solely for
Spoiler:
Image
though.

Reminisce ~ Steel Samurai's Ballad - This ranks right up there with Fire Carves Scars in the :larry: factor, maybe even higher.

Won the Lawsuit! - Happy! Best version of this tune, too.

Ending Credits/Prosecutors Path - Rather pretty, can't compete to T&T's epic ending though.

Prosecutors' Murmur ~ Until We Meet Again - S'aight.

Final analysis: The Investigation phase tunes are generally some of the best (minus Search ~ Opening and Congratulations), but the Trial tunes tend to be lacking a bit compared to the other games.

Ok, I find so far (with the lack of of T&T experience) that JFA is behind AA. However, I'll run through some and compare to AA. (I used a soundtrack from Galbadia Hotel, if it has a 2 in front of it, it's from JFA, if it has a one, AA. The ordering may change so try to bear with me)

201: Prologue: (Richard Wellington's ringtone playing in the dream) It was pretty good, but in comparison to 101 (where you see the murder scene in the first case), it loses.

203 (202 was the the ringtone, which I skipped): Courtroom Lounge: (the music outside the court): This goes to number 2, it gave a far more sense of urgency to the whole case. Although it only just beats 102.

204: Trial (the music during the start of the trial): This loses to 103, it had a sense of drama but the first one was way too unforgettable

205: Examination (played during the cross examination): It was also pretty good, but 104 is too superior to be beaten. 205 was calming almost, 104 was fast paced and kept up with the person.

206: Trick and Magic (played when diagrams are shown): I hated this one, 105's is much better, it's very slow and easy, describing things is like this. Fast paced music doesn't help

207: Objection 2002 (music played after a correct objection): 207 didn't compare to 106, it didn't have the same feel. It was pretty good but it was too complex, with lots of different parts.

208: Examination-Allegro (played when the witness is on their last testimony): I absolutely love 107, but 208 is just gold. It's much faster paced, it also gives a sense of urgency (and the amount of close shaves in JFA helps) where as 106 gives a sense of excitement, which I don't feel works as well (it's still damn good)

That's all I'll do with comparing.
I love Pearl's theme, Gumshoes, Engarde's, Edgeworth in 2-4, the fast paced music during the second half of 2-4 when he is exposed. However, It's not that it's underrated, it's just that the other games (well AA for sure, I can't speak for T&T) have more memorable soundtracks.

My favorite though from JFA is Examination-Allegro2002

Uhmmm, I really like the Allegro Examination. There's this feeling of faint desperation in there that the other two seem to lack. And the...um....Engarde's music when he flips his hair. Love that.

Courtroom Lounge theme: Slow but grand style doesn't really fit the Lounge...T&T actually uses this theme better.
Trial theme: Is OK, but AA and T&T Trial themes sound better.
Cross-Examination: Uh no. I was disappointed when I heard this theme actually, it's not comparable to AA's CrossExamination theme.
Trick and Magic: Is OK
Objection 2002: I think the only objection theme that has a greater variety of motifs in it.
Cross-Examination Allegro 2002: Doesn't really excite more than the slower version, and the 'new added parts' supposedly in every Allegro version isn't anything special either.
Cornered 2002: Is OK, but AA and T&T's Cornered themes are better.
Announce the Truth 2002: Is the first theme that I thought was better than AA's. The bells part actually contributes to a lot due to its on-beat interaction with the bass.
Search-Opening 2002: It's not bad. Quite catchy and reminds me of Ini doing that dancing thing.
Turnabout Sisters 2002: This and the original...were overused. I used to like them... Also the original is better and longer.
Detention Center 2002: Doesn't really interest me, compared to AA's theme and to an extent T&T's theme
Reminiscence-The Fire Carves Scars: One of the better Reminiscence themes.
Eccentric: Some may like this and some may hate this. But I do think the theme is quite unique.
Circus: Heh, I liked this theme. Simple theme with good bass doubling
Shelly de Killer: The starting theme is kickass, but I thought there could be a more interesting second part.
Pearl Fey: Is a good theme that fits the character.
Search-In the Midst 2002: To me, is quite a generic theme...
Great Revival: I like this one, but it's a bit too short.
Hotline of Fate: Fits when it is used in the game, but as a track by itself, it just recycles the starting of the Cornered theme and a not-so-inspiring second part.
Search-Core 2002: Is a nice theme that fits Matt Engarde(after). However T&T really overused this theme.
Reminiscence-Steel Samurai's Ballad: Good variation of the steel samurai's theme. That theme is one of my favorites anyway.
Won the Lawsuit 2: Not only it sounds happy, it sounds relieving too. One of the better tracks here.
JFA End: Is actually not too monotonous for a credits theme.

Overall, I think the soundtrack isn't bad, but compared to the other two games I'd say there are some that aren't just as nice or catchy.

Agreed; the music is underrated. The orchestration sometimes leaves much to be desired, but the melodies are good. Great Revival (I'm pretty sure that's the piece that plays when Edgeworth shows up in Case 4), which I now consider Edgeworth's main theme, still remains in my head even though I've moved on to playing Trials and Tribulations.
