Who do you think gave Matt his original scratches? Spoiler: 2-4 Also, what is in that glass he carries around? Let's debate. |

I think it was practice for the real thing that he would do one day just to show off...but instead of just practicing, he put his fingers down on his face and then scratched it. |

Given what we see at the end of the case, I think it's safe to assume he gave them to himself. Whatever the reason, it must have been something big, since it seems to be triggered by fits of anger. |

Serious Theory: He gave them to himself because he's so fucked up. D: Joke Theory: Shoe did it. :C |

He walked into a cactus. Matt hides the scatches because he's so ashamed of them. |

Matt is totally emo. More pathetic than I am, which is quite an accomplishment >.> But yeah, I totaly agree he must be afraid of them. If it was 's fault, I'd totally laugh though. |

He most probably gave them to himself, yeah. My money's on Juan-related reasons. Maybe it was Celeste, maybe it was something from before then. As far as we know, they've been at each other's throats since they were little. Maybe... Matt had always had a habit of scratching his forehead when he's annoyed, and one day he just snapped at something Juan did and ksh! NailsXface! Then he threatened his hairstylist until she gave him nice emobangs that he could just push up whenever he felt particularly villainous. And whip out a glass of bourbon. |

I don't know, maybe it was some accident that happened in the night..If you know what I mean :P Naw, jk. I think he did it by himself. Maybe he had no more wine, smashed is glass and cut himself with the shards. |

Theory 1: He got them in a fit of rage after his manicurist filed his nails too sharp. (Oh, the irony!) Theory 2: Each one was a separate occasion! :D First one: Matt felt happy, sad, anxious, joyous, angry, jumpy, emotional, nervous, doubtful, apathetic, spiteful, and exactly 13.32 other emotions from time to time, but he thought it was time for something else, something refreshing like a spring breeze... like pain! ^_^ Second one: Shoe got angry at Matt for constantly plugging his kitty-hole with assorted stuff animals. So, being too stupid to scratch open the stuffed animals, letting out all the fluff and allowing Shoe to pass, Shoe decided to just scratch Matt. Third one: Silly! That's not a scratch, it's just a stray pen mark ^_^ Those 2 small ones on his forehead: In order to ensure that his watch-phone could get reception anywhere, they implanted a satellite onto Matt's brain. However, they stitched it up improperly and those are two scars from that. There ya go. All his scratches accounted for :D |

Post subject: | Re: Matt's Scratches |
My Theory: He suffers from a minor case of Dissociative Identity Disorder possibly due to some traumatic event in his past *cough*Child Abuse*cough* which lead to a minor split in his personality as you see in the game. As he would switch from the "good" Matt into the "evil" Matt the very first time, he apparently grabbed his face with his left hand and after the switch is made, the "evil" half grinded his hand down which lead to it becoming an automatic habit every time the switch happens. Hence the scarred Scratches over his left eye. The "good" Matt realized he need to hide the scars to avoid being questioned unless the "bad" Matt took over. Spoiler: Extra Info Durp wrote: Joke Theory: Shoe did it. :C When that happens to you, it's not that much of joke. Considering the serious damage that can happen. *Had that happen before* |

I am guessing that he did it to make himself look cool when he reveals his dark side. It also gives him the right to put his hair in that fancy manner |

It seems everyone agrees that it was an emo incident. Now should we debate what is in that glass he carries around everywhere? Where does it come from anyway? His pocket? |

Clearly the scratches were caused by a pissed-off Shoe. My guess is that Matt was being mean to him (her?), so Shoe got (justifiably!) angry and KILLED HIS FACE--I mean scratched him. ON HIS FACE As for the glass...my guess is brandy. Or extremely thin gravy. |

I think it was self-inflicted so he would look like a bond villain. And the glass is so that he can start talking about how he ate Juan's liver with a glass of chianti if the opportunity ever appears. |

Play 1-5 again until you get to the part of luminal testing. Go to Edgey's office and spray a little in front of his desk. *DING* Blood traces |

Post subject: | Re: Matt's Scratches and Glass |
Yes, but it was suggested that it was blood from a nosebleed of Gumshoe's after getting slapped for his incompetence by Edgeworth. Besides, Engarde was case 2-4; the latest the blood could have been spilled there was case 1-5. Now, if Engarde and Edgeworth met before then...maybe. Phoenix makes a comment that Edgeworth seems to know an unusually hefty amount of information about Matt when you're in the mansion. |
