Well. Until I found out she has an older sister I thought she was the mother of a 7 year old. xD (Case 4 of AA, von Karma talks about having a 7 year old grand daughter who has a dog named Phoenix. What a stupid name for a dog.) But maybe she is a whore. She wants Gumshoe real bad. Dr? Hotti

I invade yet another thread! Oh, oh, take cover now.

I'll confess: I read lots of fanfiction before I played JFA, so I came in with a...biased? opinion on her.
My first taste of Phoenix Wright was when I watched my brother play some of Case 4 while he was interrogating Adrian. I LOVED HER AT ONCE, she just looked so...pinchable.

So I resolved to learn more about the series (coughandy) and thus discovered Franziska. Well, discover is not the right word, since I had read up on her elsewhere. But this was Fran in action! Dr. Grey

So I learned Fran was awesome then I played the game and I was like "Yeah, she's pretty much win incarnate, I'd be glad if she showed up just to whip me" and thus I became a fangirl. I HEARTED HER WHEN SHE CRIED THAT WAS SO PINCH-WORTHY

...My story is a strange one.

Howd'ya figure that? Considering she's not in a sexual relationship with any character, let alone multiple characters. </literal>

AND YES, WE STILL DO LOVE FRANZISKA.
I should write another rant about her "OMFGDEEPSYMPATHETICBACKSTORY" but I'm lazy and seem to have lost my others >>;

VERY RANDOM, BUT HEY, THIS WHOLE THREAD IS RANDOM ANYWAY: I'm under the impression that most fans are under agreement that Manfred physically abused Franzy, based on the fanfics of her growing up.
Circumstancial evidence being:
1. She thinks it's okay to go around whipping everyone who doesn't agree with her.
2. Manfred has a cane in his official art, which he doesn't use for walking in any of his sprites.
3. Manfred is a bitch.
THOUGHTS?

Hell yeah I like Franny... actually liked her even before I saw her in action.

Franziska being abused... I think it is very likely considering what kind of person Manfred von Karma was.

First order of business: yes, I love Franziska. I ended up liking her more the second time I played through the game. I have even embarked on the journy of Fran cosplay~! I fear making the poofy shoulders.

Secondly: I do not see Manfred as abusive to Fran. Strict? Sure. Besides, Manfred is a psychological villain more than anything else. You don't need to make him cane his daughter to make him evil. Remember this is a man that Miles looked up to. I think he would have a hard time doing that if he knew he was beating the crap out of a little girl--his youngest daughter, no less.

Hmm, good points. I was just wondering because I've seen some fanfics that portrayed him that way, so I wanted to know what others thought about it. I was also wondering where she picked up the habit of whipping people o.0
Anyway, I think emotional abuse isn't out of the question...or maybe I'm just trying to give Franzy the benefit of the doubt. I.E. "It's okay if she thinks that imperfect losers are worthless and deserve to die, because her father told her that!" etc. Or. Something >>;

I don't think that verbally or physically abusive behavior is necessary to produce a person like Franziska von Karma. When you really look up to an parent figure it's easy to internalize their morals to an extreme in an attempt to gain their approval.

We've seen Manfred engage in physical violence to get what he wants, though, with Phoenix and Maya. And he seemed fairly sadistic and gleeful about it. That's the main thing that gives me pause as far as the physical abuse question goes. You could go either way, though.

It's a love and hate thing she has with me.
One day, I hate her, but then some days, I like her to bits. It's weird.

The scene where she cried? I didn't think it was THAT interesting... I thought it was an attempt to give her character, but that's just my opinion.

People say that Edgeworth and Phoenix hate eachg other, but I think these two (Phoenix and Franny) go at it even worse. o_O
The end of case 2: JFA made me laugh, though.

I man, whipping people to get your point across was interesting and funny at first, but then it just began to become... immature. She did it a lot. *blink*

But nonetheless, she is second to Mia on my "favorite PW girls" list. =D

Not that I agree, but her objection is my 2nd favorite (after edgy's), but we only hear it about 5 times. I don't like her that much because she just is too annoying. The character devolopment is odd, it changes too much at the end *runs away from CFTF*. Also, she doesn't act enough like Manfred, who although is a pain and evil, is really cool. A bit of a let-down for me.

Hmm, really? I didn't think it changed at all. If we're talking about the airport scene, it seemed like the natural conclusion of everything we knew about Franziska - her desperation to live up to her name, her youth, her love of Edgeworth. All of the build-up and indicators leading to that scene were there, I think.

I didn't really, it just seems so unlike of what we knew of her to break down like that. Also, she could be charged with like 15 different assult cases. Hitting people with a whip isn't legal (although Oldbag does deserve it and I stick with Phoenix with that line.)

Spoiler: JFA ending
But she was talking with Edgeworth who, in her mind, always seemd to look down on her (in her words, "You always left me alone and walked on ahead without me!". When he finally told her that he considers them equals ("Today you chased me down after I left you behind after all these years and that's why... we're standing here now. Side by side."), that really must have had an impact on her. Especially when he says "I have no intention on stopping. If you say you're going to quit your walk down the prosecutor's path... then this is where we part ways." Deep down, all along, I think that's what she truly wanted and she finally gained his acknowledgement (if she really didn't have it before...).

I like Franziska's character. She may not show it, but in reality, she has the guts of a fish stick. :ack: :ka-whip: OWWWW!! *faints*

*one trip to the hospital later*

She wasn't even willing to stand up to Pearl, let alone Godot. She always whips the same people (Phoenix, Gumshoe, whoever's unlucky enough to be on the witness stand, and once in 2-3, Maya). And you've really got to feel sorry for her. She was overshadowed by Edgeworth all her life. She had the opportunity to surpass him by performing a task he was unable to (defeating Phoenix in court), but she failed. Then he came back and did it before she could. If I were her I would have whipped everything in sight until the whole courthouse collapsed.

I love Franziska. I really liked how fierce she was in court and outside court, she weren't too bad. She's like a perfectionist a bit like her dad. I think her whip is made of win. I think she's pretty and quite hot and I also like how she feels like a diva in court. She's one of my favorite characters.

Franziska's crying sprites were adorable and also
Spoiler:
Her younger self.

For Franziska pairs, well my favorite is :maya: / :franny: and it's my OTP but I like pretty much most ships with Franziska.

Maybe I'm just being silly, but I think 2-4 would have been even more awesome if the prosecutor was a still-bleeding-from-the-shoulder von Karma.

I really dug how tenacious and persistent Franziska was, it's too bad she didn't have better cases to showcase her personality.

Agreed. I think part of the reason people say Franziska has no logic skills or is a lousy prosecutor is because she got stuck with ridiculous cases. 2-2 had her arguing a ghost killed someone, and 2-3 required her to claim that a circus magician flew without the aid of stage equipment. If she hadn't been shot in 2-4, she might have been able to better show her skills and possibly defeat Phoenix Wright.

If Capcom ever gives her the chance to grow up a little, she'll be a force to be reckoned with. I think her greatest weakness is immaturity rather than lack of intelligence or skill.

I merged this topic with the old one because we don't need two topics for the same thing even if the other one was dead. It would have been a relevant necro if something was in post in the old one, so I thought it would be better to just merge them instead of locking yours.

Anyway, I also really like Franziska. She's feisty and it can be fun to explore other facets of her character in fics. I wish Capcom would make her personality more two dimensional in the games, but I guess their happy with their whip wielding woman.
