That ending was pretty sad. How Adrian was convicted and Matt getting off scott free along with de Killer. But the thing that got me the most was how tore up inside Phoenix was after it was over. I mean, it's like he won the case, but lost his soul.

So glad I got the good ending the first time and I'm so glad that's not the canon ending. Phoenix

It wasn't sad in an upsetting way as much as it was more in a "dissappointed" way. I mean, it's sad, just not the kind of sad you cry far, more like the sad feeling you get when you come close to victory and lose it. The music fits the moment well, too.

Sad? The glorified game over? Not really.

Personally, I preferred that "ending" over the normal one. I mean, yes, while it is kind of sad that Phoenix never met Maya again and is all depressed due to what happened, I still didn't find it all too sad.

I guess the reason why I didn't consider that ending 'sad' was that I wanted to get a Not Guilty, for various reasons I don't feel like mentioning. I thought the normal ending was a lot more depressing than this one, but that's just me.

Kinda like how Mark accepted the job at Buzzline just so he could pay the rent, but ended up feeling like he sold his soul because he had to stop making his own film...

Whoops, suddenly got Rent-Headed over there. O__O;

Anyway... Like Misaki, I didn't find the Glorified Game Over THAT sad... I actually thought it was better that way, because even though Naruhodou won, he still lost, because that "victory" sent a somewhat-innocent person to jail (Perhaps even to death, if you stretch a bit...?) and Naruhodou never spoke to Mayoi again.

... On second thought, Naruhodou never speaking to Mayoi again wouldn't be so bad... That'd give him more time for Ayame, while Mayoi scoots off to become Broom Lady. :P

I don't get anyone could really want to get a "Not Guilty" knowing that it means sending an innocent woman to her death. Granted, Maya was an 'innocent' also, and it'd be an innocent dying either way, but one dies in the frustration of evil and one dies serving evil's needs. Plus, Maya outright SAID that she'd never forgive Nick if he got a Not Guilty.

I'll double that, CFTF; that's why I chose "guilty" with no doubt when the game put me through the choice. A dead woman, a free assassin and ON TOP OF ALL an angry Maya is definitely worse than a dead sensitive... but it was a very suffered choice. Thanks to Friska, though!
And I didn't worry at all about poor Gumshoe. I mean, it's GUMSHOE, not a wimpy Goodman ... he would just get some scratches, even from a car accident

Hm... Maybe I should explain why I wanted a Not Guilty.
Basically, at the point where you had to choose between the two possible verdicts, I already liked most of characters from the case, so to speak. Adrian was the one from the case I liked the least(I didn't hate her, and she's a nice character, but she got on my nerves after a while), out of the people who were involved in the crime, anyways, so if I had to see anybody go, it'd have been her, even if she was innocent.

As for Maya... honestly, I didn't care about her at all throughout the whole case. Me wanting a Not Guilty had nothing to do with her. In fact, I pretty much ignored the fact she wanted Phoenix to get a Guilty verdict.

About Gumshoe, I'll have to admit, when Edgeworth said he had an accident, I got a bit worried, then realized he's probably going to be well again by the end of the case, like quite a few important characters in stories in general, and... yeah.

Actually, I found that ending kinda funny but in a depressed way. And this was before I even noticed the typo.

I don't know why but I always seem to find the bad endings in most video games funny even if at the cost of a Main Character's death. I'm going to burn in hell for this. Damon

It wasn't "bring me to tears" sad, but it IS really somber and melancholy. I'll attribute this to the fact that they used that AWESOME AWESOME WONDERFUL slowed-down Steel Samurai theme, which is one of the finest pieces of music in the game.

What did nearly bring a tear to my eye would be the Maya/Mia reunion at the end of 2-2.

And with that, I'm going to say I also would've wanted a Not guilty verdict as well. *nods in agreement* But that's just me. I WILL admit it made me a little sad. Nick sounded so sad and bitter at the end.

I was more worried for Gumshoe rather than Maya, in all honesty. He made me smile at one point, though.. So did Franziska.. They both had such a role near the end of the case.

It could have been a powerful scene had it not had one of the worst typos of the game that completely kills the mood.

I never got that ending, I got the good one. What I thought was sad was Gumshoe's crash(I almost went insane) and finding out Matt was guilty. I was like HOLY CRAP! He was one of my favorite characters, but I found out later that he's even cooler evil.

To get that ending, present the wrong profile and the wrong evidence when you are supposed to show de Killer and the tape, choose anything else.

Nope. First class people "bad spellers cannot be"'. :P

And people aren't really sad over the glorified game over. It's not like it made them cry or something... Okay, maybe it made some people cry, but I think it's safe to say that a majority of those who got the glorified game over just "laughed" rather than "cried"'. I mean, it did have "THE MIRACLE NEVER HAPPEN ZOMFGZ!!! THE GOING MERRY'S BROKEN LOLZ!!!". :/

Post subject:  Re: Did anyone feel sad when...*maybe spoilers*

i got sad when i got that ending, yeah. But what really drove me insane was the fact i couldn't figure out how to get the good ending, because every time i presented anything to the judge, he always seemed to call it wrong. I presented the two right answers, but then the judge went, "Well, Mr. Edgeworth, what do you think?" and i thought i got it wrong again. So i couldn't figure out what to do, and every time i got the bad ending i got depressed and turned off the game so i could do it again. D:

finally i went to game FAQs and got the right answer, which i had already tried but thought i had failed with. D:

I personally knew what was going to happen beforehand and only did the bad ending to see what it was like. While I necessarily didn't feel like crying, it was quite moving (though not as moving as the good ending after the credits!)
