But then again, it'll decrease sales for the US, considering the Japanese version has an English option. ANd more people would want to buy, & import the Japanese version.

Yup. This is exactly what I was thinking.
If they sold the US version a few days after the Japanese release, the Japanese version may not get enough sales. So they push the US release back to give Japan the time they need to sell GS3.
