Maybe we were supposed to be all shocked upon hearing that Maya is not found on the Inner Temple side and then hearing that she supposed was killed/committed suicide, and hence not think of that possibility? You know, I kinda figured that 2nd-Day Iris is not the "real" one the second the day started... dunno why, I just did.

Not necessarily. There is nothing about Maya's life being tragically cut short that would make Mia happy. And I'm sure Maya would feel plenty of guilt about leaving Pearl behind. So at best, the reunion would be bittersweet.

How? She wouldn't have the chance to become Master of Kurain and help her village, she couldn't keep on being Phoenix's assistant, or watch the next installment of the Samurai series, eat burgers, hang out with her friends, be a big sister to Pearl, get married and have children of her own, and so on.
Don't get me wrong, I'm sure they'd be happy to see each other. But I'm sure Mia would rather her sister live a full life than have a premature death for the sake of a reunion.
