So how do you pronounce it properly? Wouldn't it be more German (assuming the Gavins are from Germany)?
I was pronouncing it "Kla-vee-ay" because of my habit of pronouncing -ier like that. The more english version of it is "Klav-yur."

I did a little research into Borscht Belt (read: I typed it into Google) and found a couple of neat pieces of info: Borscht itself is a kind of soup, but Borscht Belt is actually a name for the summer resorts in a certain part of upstate New York:
