I'm proposing a reorganization of the "Games" subforum.
Firstly, I think there should be three types of topics:
- fangame topics: where creators present their projects / put together a team and other users make suggestions / comments. (ex: the PW: Remnants of the Past topic)
- casemaker topics: where programmers announce new features and users contribute to the casemaker's progress / ask for help. (ex: the PWLib topic)
- a "casemaker comparison" topic : where programmers and users debate which casemaker is the best for a particular project (ex: randomguy is making a crossover fangame with original features and wants to know which casemaker he should use). Every PWLib VS PyWright discussion should be on this thread, and on this thread only.
Secondly, I think there should be a mod assigned to this particular subforum to make sure that these rules, as well as the already established ones, are respected.
So, what do you think of the idea?
Of course, if you have other suggestions, feel free to comment =)

Of those it looks like the only actual difference you're presenting is separating the casemaker debate from individual project threads. I don't think it's necessary to have such a thread since most of the casemakers have their own threads, and there is also the Wiki which already shows off the different abilities of each. Just about every casemaker debate I've ever seen boils down to "you should try them all out and see which one you like best" anyway so I'm not sure such a thread would be benficial; in fact, it would probably just invite trouble.

Luke already made a quicklink topic. We could always add a "casemaker checklist" to it that people new to the makers could use as a guide to help them with their decision. But the debating itself doesn't seem to go anywhere, so I'd rather just put a cap on that and urge users to do their homework.

In theory, Croik, I would agree.
But recently more and more topics are becoming "battlegrounds" for rather pointless casemaker debates.
A lot of users and thread owners don't appreciate this sort of bickering in their thread, and as such, I can understand Ping's intentions in this.

In that case, it would be easiest to enforce a "no bickering" policy in the games section and go ahead with an FAQ for Casemaker Noobs - encourage people to decide on a casemaker before starting up their threads by giving them all the information they need up front. That would take the debates out of invidual threads.

Creating a separate debate topic just encourages competition, and that's not something I want to do.

Put Mafia in the Games section *shot*

But how will you enforce a "no bickering" rule? It'd be extremely hard, and require mods to pretty much look at the threads often.

By deleting bickerish posts and threatening with suspensions, like any other rule. Though I suspect the problem will lessen if we encourage case creators to pick out their program before hand with all the information in hand, rather than asking open-ended "Which case maker should I use?" questions.

I agree Croik.
A single topic listing the pros and cons would be nice.

Or just differences.
Then like, checklists and such.

But there is a wiki for all of that already >.>

You're probably right, Croik, simply enforcing a "no bickering" policy might be a better idea than mine ; but in that case, I think mods should really be inflexible. Strictly forbidding what most people - including myself - consider to be a pointless argument, or allowing it in a specific topic - either could work.
