Not sure if this is in the right place, but here goes...

I've been thinking about this a few times before, but as far as I know, Court Records isn't on Twitter. Sure, we have the website and the forums to post news and have discussions, but I think we can always expand ourselves a bit more to reach more people, right?

Nowadays, most people are probably really busy with their lives and whatnot. These people would get their news, info, etc. from social media sites like Twitter or Facebook because it takes seconds to connect. So I thought, hey, why not do the same? A lot of other fansites have Facebook pages and Twitter accounts such as Serebii (Pokemon) which really helps in keeping the subscribers and followers up-to-date with the latest info. CR can do the same with Ace Attorney/Gyakuten Saiban. Of course, we may not be as, well, popular as these other portals, but who knows? A little broadening of our scope couldn't hurt. It might even grab some new people? We can keep the fans informed with every little bit of information as quick and efficient as possible in only 140 characters or fewer and can even connect with Capcom from there. I suggest Twitter over Facebook mainly because of how efficient it is to get info out in a snap, but Facebook can work as well.

Finally, just to clarify, there's nothing wrong with the way it is now, but as a fan of the series and this site, it would be pretty cool if we could connect with the fandom and the official people at Capcom in more ways. Or maybe I wasted my time and you guys already have one, and I just somehow missed it. What do you guys think?

Hm... I already started to use Twitter to keep an eye on the japanese sources, so I might be able to help out there, maybe. It sounds like a good idea to keep the fans more imeddiately informed.

Another thing I'd suggest is a Tumblr Blog. The Ace Attorney Fandom is very active on Tumblr, by expanding there, we might get some activity back into the Forum. Just a suggestion.

Personally, I'm not opposed to the idea. But there's a bit of an implementation issue. Of the three social networks mentioned, I only seriously use Twitter. And even then, it's more stalking then actually tweeting. But, I think I could manage that. But FaceBook and Tumblr… it'd be much better if someone active with a passion for those social networks maintained them. 'Cause I'm sure I'd flat out forget about them, and I'm quite sure Croik doesn't use either. Not that she uses the forums these days either.

In the past, if memory serves, we've had people offer a Facebook account, but that I believe only ended up being a spur of the moment thing for some fan, and I'd be 'very' surprised if it's active still. If it existed at all. Tumblr… I'm not too familiar with. As I understand it it's something similar to LiveJournal, only with a built in media uploader? I wouldn't know how to use that other then to copy and paste the news from Trial Minutes into it, which seems disingenuous.

But I like the direction this conversation is headed...

My two cents: I've only started using Twitter since just a while ago, but I do think it is easier than Facebook, because you don't actually need an account to read the feeds. Which makes it more accessible. And with Twitter, it might be easier for those who can read Japanese to retweet JP sources (ほそぼそ, Capcom tweets), maybe accompanied with translations.

Now, how do we want to use this? Do we want to strictly mirror the trial minutes as we get them plus retweeting sources as we see them… or should we have fun with this and ramble a bit about Ace Attorney + inside goings on, on it? It's easy to go either way, and just as easy to screw up.

As for why I suggested tumblr too, I have my reasons, but I can't explain right now. I am writting this from my phone and am thus limited. What I can tell you: tumblr is basically the lovechild of livejournal and twitter. That's why it's perfect for spreading fandom related news.

Nice job, Wooster! I would say start with an introductory tweet to put ourselves out there. And also to let people know it's not fake. :X

As for how we want to use it... well, pretty much on the ball. We definitely want to tweet the latest information and retweet the sources and it doesn't hurt to dabble on occasion.

Not sure how multiple users on one Twitter account works, but I'd be willing to retweet & translate tweets. Most of it will be from ほそぼそ though. ~_~

I'd second Neni's idea of a Tumblr blog as well. I've done some digging for AA stuff there myself, and it's pretty apparent the AA fandom is going strong there. To put a number on it, when the first official GS5 art/screens hit, a good friend of mine on there put up a blog post with them collected in one place; it's now got about 2,400 'notes', most of which look to be people reposting it to their own blog. That's a pretty decent spread. An official C-R Tumblr would also give us a way to spotlight quality fanworks without clogging up the news page.

Also: as far as I know, said friend isn't on C-R. That's a pretty good reason to expand right there.

I'm down for Tumblr, but as stated, I don't understand squat about it, so I wouldn't be effective at using it. If we could get a team together who'd be competent and effective at using it, I'd be down for making an account.

OK, I secured us a Tumblr URL. Unfortunately, "Court-records" was already taken, I could only secure "http://court-records-dot-net.tumblr.com/" for us. If you guys don't like that, we can still change it. Anyway, if the idea of the Tumblr blog is greenlit, I'll just give Wooster and everyone else sorted in for taking care of the thing administration rights over the blog and then we're ready to go.

I have been on Tumblr for a while, so I am fairly well-versed with it and could do a lot. Still, it be good to have someone with HTML skills on-board so we can adjust the Blog-skin to look like the forums.
