I think this speaks for itself. But I will summarize parts of the article below.

According to Street Fighter producer Yoshinori Ono, Capcom employees are not exactly being team players in the working environment. Ono has been working hard on a lot of Street Fighter related games in the last few years, the latest one being Street Fighter x Tekken. During the development of it, Ono suffered heart problems, but was back to work on the game within a week, without a break afterwards.

Quote:
"Capcom doesn't allow a trade union or any sort of worker movement you see,"..."So if I complain I will probably get sacked. You have to say it for me, OK? I want you to write: 'Capcom overworks Ono'. That's your headline."

This is what Ono told Eurogamer in an interview. He has alluded that he is one of the last big names Capcom have left, and it might not be a surprise if he leaves the company in the near future.

It saddens me to see a big company like Capcom get rumors like this spread around, especially as it holds the Gyakuten Saiban series we all know and love. If this article tells the truth, however, then I will seriously think twice about buying a Capcom game day one. Apart from the eventual GS5 and PL vs Layton (though that one is being developed by Level-5), I don't think I'll check on any Capcom titles until this is proven to be false or until something happens to Capcom. As it is now, however, I don't think Capcom has that much to offer to the big crowds after Ono takes his leave, save for Resident Evil and DmC. But they can only last so long.

What are your thoughts?

Wow that sounds abominable, especially after reading the related article about that female capcom employee who is taking them to court over workplace harassment.

Capcom is really pushing the limits here I hope he ups and outs them leave them suffering in the market for a couple of years as their best ideas fade.

What the heck is wrong with Capcom lately? First off, they're doing the worst job in the world showing Mega Man is "still important" to them, they haven't been showing much love to GS either except now that they're apparently still working on GS5. Now, Capcom is just being a jerk to employees? What's gotten into them?

(Btw, there are apparently just a few more Mega Man games than there are Mario, so Capcom's negligence of Mega Man is like if Nintendo stopped making Mario games.)

Most Japanese companies overwork their employees. It's not unusual. But, I do think the way they treated his collapse was insensitive and uncaring (and bad business sense.)

The 4chan message by a 'Capcom employee' is BS. It's blatantly someone pretending to be Japanese. (trust me, JP speakers make different kinds of mistakes in their written English to the English in that post. Also adding "ありがとうございます” to try to make the poster look genuine is laughable). Also, Japanese companies don't employ students for professional positions until they've graduated. NEVER trust 4chan posts.

Wait, wait, what?

If this is just a joke, I'm hoping it is just that. But if it isn't, Capcom's definitely screwed. With people like those, they have the power to not only burn the company into ashes, but take some of their moo-lah along with them. This is definitely something I'll be looking out for.

Sad to see that Capcom's stuck in the Stone Age with regards to worker's rights, but I'm guessing Japan's employment policies need some updating themselves; since when was it permitted to prohibit employees from joining trade unions? Or am I missing something here?

Is that the truth, or is Ono being coerced?

If (and that is a big IF) this is true, then yes, Capcom deserves scrutiny for it.

While the legal system in Phoenix Wright may not subscribe to the tenet that people are "innocent until proven guilty," I believe that Phoenix himself would consider this a noble commandment to live—and litigate—by.

As such, it should not be "I refuse to buy Capcom games because of this until this is proven false", but rather "I will have faith in Phoenix Wright's creators and give them the benefit of the doubt until this is proven true."

That is all.

Indeed. Especially at the point where they're busy with 25th anniversaries for two series, if memory serves correctly.
