My brother ran into my room the other day yelling 'hey isn't this that game you really like?!' I'm glad it's getting so much exposure on the App Store, it's the perfect opportunity to draw in new fans :will:

One thing I just noticed on the iOS version that I like: they corrected a very specific character model that caused an inconsistency in the 3DS version.

I do wonder if his staff arm is fixed in that position at all times.

For situations where what you are saying is contrary to the facts (a hypothetical situation), were is always used. So, in the case of Dr. Crab describing a situation where the pool is without water (something that doesn't normally happen), this particular phraseology is actually correct.

That was actually only present in the English version, from what I've heard.

^Correct. Whilst correcting some glitches of the Japanese version, they also added some other 'features' in the translated version.

Now if we get an announcement for Dual Destinies on the Wii U, I'm going to die.

I honestly think that the graphics would look pretty stellar on the Wii U. This is the first game to me that feels like it actually suits a console rather than just the 3DS which makes it look quite boxed in and small.

They could make an Investigations game for the Wii U, and have it in full 3D. :edgey:

Well, one benefit that 3D models have over sprites is that they're not as sensitive to upscaling. So Dual Destinies could certainly be ported to the Wii U without a lot of issues.

I still expect any new game (like AAI 3, assuming that actually turns out to be real) to be released on the 3DS first, though.

I don't know if anybody has discovered this but you can play your own music while playing the game. The game's music will automatically mute for you.

See, my headphones have a tendency to play the music loaded on my iPad for no reason whatsoever, so I discovered this feature by accident.

I'll add to this that this particular form is called the Subjunctive. If interested, you can Google it.

Tonight I decided to take a look at the few models that weren't packed into archives. The good news is that the format is relatively trivial, so I was able to throw together a viewer pretty quickly. Behold:

Lovely, aren't they?

Bad news is, as Jozerick said, most of the models are in .arc files, so they aren't accessible just yet.

I believe I have found a way to extract the arc files:

This ARC Unpacker/repacker was able to extract a few different items from the ARC files in the 3DS version of the game: http://z6.invisionfree.com/Resident_Evi ... t22193.htm

It'll extract the ARC files with improper file extensions. If you look at the script at the bottom of the page, they have mappings to the Hexadecimal extensions they get:
.58A15856 = .mod
.241F5DEB = .tex
.2749C8A8 = .mrl
.76820D81 = .lmt

(These are the only formats I've seen thus far. Looks like other ones are not known to the RE modding community)

Any chance you're going to make source available for that model viewer? I'd love to check it out.

I agree, I'd love to use that program, too! Also, do you mean that the files in the iOS version are the same format as the 3DS version?

This iOS release is the reason I fell in love with this series, even if DD is not the greatest game in the series. I saw it on the front page, and thought "Hmm, I've heard of this series". Then I saw that the trilogy was on iOS after an App Store review of DD was like "fyi this is actually the fifth game in the series." I downloaded the trilogy, played the first case, and I've been hooked ever since. Thank you, iOS release <3

I extracted some model files from one of the archive files from the 3DS version. Tex files, too. I can't open any of them just yet.

For a starter, check if they are encrypted. Some previous games have had stuff encrypted. Poorly I might add. Short, fixed, xor keys do not add much security. Especially not when they don't bother compressing the data before encrypting.
