This really is a bit disappointing, but what I want to know is if there was actually a demo, like bolt said, from the gyakuten website I only saw that poster of Athena , but I wonder I they actually showed a gameplay demo?

It was already announced long ago that there would be a playable demo available at JF16: you even get a set of stickers too if you get to play it. But they didn't say it's a new demo.

I don't hate Athena though, I just think her role in DD was a bit much because she was just so involved with everything and kind of overshadowed the other characters. I did enjoy her when taken by herself though. I'd like to see more of her in a smaller role for the time being to let the other characters shine.

I really loved Athena and I'm glad she's coming back. I am aware of her flaws. (Her power being badly explained, her backstory being badly explained and the final case just being handled badly.) But the third case was such a fun one with her as Defense. And I don't necessarily think people liking her is a negative thing. But there were people who she didn't get along with. Like that one writer in the DLC case. And the case she was in was of a bunch of kids her own age who she told them "Hey it's ok to be yourself." for a teenager to hear that from someone is a big deal. But The game does have it's flaws and so does she. But there are characters that are MUCH WORSE than Athena that don't get as much negative feedback for it. *CoughIRISCcough*

I was expecting some more news than that from the presentation but whatever. It's cool to see Athena back, though I'd probably be more interested if I had already finished Dual Destinies.

I don't hate Athena; I don't even dislike her... but she does have a lot of flaws (and not the good kind of flaws that make a character relatable.) While I do like her, I hope she gets a more behind the scenes role.

I wasn't a fan back then, but I have a hunch that there were plenty of discussions about Iris' character when T&T came out, especially concerning shipping. If people talk more about Athena nowadays is because: A) She's new, B) She's a part of the main cast and C) DD is far less appreciated than T&T overall.

She wasn't completely obnoxious but I felt she overstayed her welcome so her appearance in this game just makes me feel apathetic.

Judging by the sign, that impossible triangle thing appears to be the venue's symbol. If it specializes in magic shows, that symbol wound make more sense.

Also, the more I think about it, the more convinced I am that Maya's going to be Phoenix's assistant in Kurain, if only for efficiency's sake. Assuming they're not going to bump up the number of episodes, we've got three tops with the Kurain crew, one of which is the intro and one of which will probably be shared with Apollo's cast as a finale. That's not a lot of time to build up characters! So if Athena and Trucy are wrapped up in Apollo's plot, that really only leaves Maya (or maybe Pearl, but really - if they're going for a Fey assistant they'll go for Maya) as an assistant for Phoenix that won't need lots of introduction.

I guess there's an outside chance that Leifa decides to help out Phoenix after the first trial, but - nah. She's probably going to be the secondary rival and only overcome her animus towards attorneys late in the game.

Examining plants never felt so satisfying.

On the topic of Athena returning: On the one hand, I can agree that she was loud, annoying and stupidly overdone. On the other hand, it is just how new main characters work in the AA-franchise.

If we think back to Apollo, he also was loud, annoying and for the taste of some people overdone. Also, if they named it Athena Cykes: Ace Attorney there would have been even more hate on the game. On top of that, it seems like they learned: After giving us very little about Apolloe, we learned a whole lotta more about Athena, which is fine. Some mysteries, but not too many, other than Apollo, who also was hated for being underdeveloped.

Well...that's just my guts. He doesn't seems like an important character...yet he appears in the very 1st scan with complete bios and such plus Leifa doesn't act like assistant too AND the fact Phoenix still needs a guide, maybe Bokuto as a tour guide can help him.

tldr He's like the only 'plain' character to get that treatment, so he might assist Phoenix in Kurain.

Personally, I think if they're going to have part of the game set in the Kingdom of Kurain, then not having Maya show up would just be me.

Also, it is my personal opinion that Athena's official art is extremely creepy. That blank scare makes her look insane.

I personally think that Athena's official art for AA6 makes her look cuter.

I dunno, even if her character and backstory were badly handled, I still think at the very least, she's aesthetically appealing.

Though some could say that's her only appeal. But I disagree.

It makes her look soulless and empty I agree. Like there's nothing behind those eyes but lenses and whirring motors

But whatever, I wonder if they'll put in some interesting new animations for this or if they'll just utilise the same set from before.

Assuming they're not going to bump up the number of episodes, we've got three tops with the Kurain crew, one of which is the intro and one of which will probably be shared with Apollo's cast as a finale. That's not a lot of time to build up characters! So if Athena and Trucy are wrapped up in Apollo's plot, that really only leaves Maya (or maybe Pearl, but really - if they're going for a Fey assistant they'll go for Maya) as an assistant for Phoenix that won't need lots of introduction.

I guess there's an outside chance that Leifa decides to help out Phoenix after the first trial, but - nah. She's probably going to be the secondary rival and only overcome her animus towards attorneys late in the game.

Somehow I just assumed Bokuto would be the assistant for Nick, but now that I think about it, he could also be this game's Juniper Woods. The reason I don't think he is, is because Yamazaki/Eshiro went more out of their way to describe his character traits than they did with Juniper being the defendant for case 1 in DD's promo material.

I love the new art for Athena. It looks vibrant and great, like all of fuse's work but without the blocky shapes. I don't think her eyes look that creepy though. I just think her mouth being open and her stare in combination with her pose looks Final-Fantasy-XIII-awkward :yogi:

I don't know the proper words to describe her official art from DD, but it just doesn't look right. It didn't really capture her proportions the same way she appeared in the game. But that could just be the angle and/or pose.
