Which "new performer"?

There is also a figure in green on the poster with Trucy on it.

Ummm...I can't help but feel that something's off in this sentence.

I... I don't see anything wrong. The defendant called the defendant and killed the defendant and was arrested to testify against the defendant. :)
It's supposed to say 'victim' at the end. Fixed.

I can't confirm. It just says テープ, which can refer to the sticky type or the soundy type.

Hehe, but anyway, thanks for translating the animations Rubia!

So I guess that would mean Trucy might actually be the defendant in that case? Considering that it is her show, and the murder scene looks like a case of the sword box (or in this case, coffin) trick going wrong...

Oh, and if you wouldn't mind, would you translate the screenshots in the index page (and subpages), please?

It seems all but confirmed by now. The absence of Trucy in these screenshots may indicate that she's been locked up in detention. It's further supported by the way Apollo places so much faith in his client.

Just the screenshots, right?

Spoiler: System front page
- Investigations part

Mimi: Yep! So you saw my instant teleport magic, huh?

- Court part

Apollo: ...Of course, the defense asserts the defendant's innocence.

Nayuta: May I ask for your basis of that claim?

Spoiler: Investigations
- Examine the clock

Apollo: It's some kind of modern art. There are all sorts of weird objects here.

[Mimi's is the same as the previous pic.]

Athena: Yes! My badge is still shinier than yours!

Spoiler: Court
Phoenix: The defense requests to cross-examine the defendant!

Payne: You're ever the reckless defense attorney, aren't you? Hee hee hee.

*fancy Begin Cross-examination*

Bokuto: It's forbidden to draw near to the treasury after all...

Evidence: Song of Ritual
A song that's sung during the Dance of Offering about the founder's treasured jewel. It's been transcribed in Japanese as well.

- Pressing

Bokuto: It's a rule of the temple. There are many important things stored in there...

- Presenting

Phoenix: The witness is clearly lying!

Payne: Whaaaaaat!?

- Conviction gauge
[Or what I'd like to call the Soul Bar. Ya know, life bar, soul bar? ;) ]

Judge: As expected of a defense attorney's objection. Repent for your sins!

Spoiler: Spirit Vision
Leifa: Under the name of our founder, I shall perform the ritual of the Oracle of Spirits.

- Vision

The three terms in CCW from left: Song of Ritual, the boy's voice, scent of incense

The oracle: The defendant held the murder weapon and swung it down upon the victim's head!

Phoenix: It happened in the reverse order!

Spoiler: Mood Matrix
Athena: I heard it just now, the dissonant sound of their heart...

Once you find the contradictory emotion, pinpoint it out.

- Mood Matrix in action

Mimi: I was on stage at that time.

- Got it!

Mimi: O-of course I really do feel that way...!

Well, they said the feedback of the demo players was that Spirit Vision is too difficult. So I guess they changed the wording a bit to make it a little bit more obvious. Although I hope they only decrease the difficulty in the first cases and keep the current difficulty level for the later cases.

I'm sure it's implied that the "difficulty" with the demo involved the UI and its practicality. When hoso_boso blogged about it, I don't remember any case he mentioned that the mysteries themselves were too difficult. Even from the TGS stage demo, I could see some potential room for detection errors, since it uses video footage that doesn't set clear boundaries between sections of the clip being played. It's still possible the devs might consider making the first case a bit easier overall, though.

Oh, Naruhodou. That's good to hear, I was afraid some fans were against them making the game more difficult (AA5 was just too easy). Improving the UI and controls is always a good idea.

Dangit. Was kinda hoping they'd keep the penalty bar. It allowed for more dramatic instances in the series.
Also, they're copying DGS in terms of how the penalties look like - both of them are badges.

Oh well. Gotta roll with the old-school - might not be so bad after all.

They could still raise the stakes by removing two or more badges for a mistake during a critical moment.

Not really. Part of the effect was seeing the bar blinking. It may seem insignificant, but it had a psychological effect.

I agree with this. The penalty bar brings back memories of the judge giving the double penalty, Godot using the unlimited penalty, and even the final moments of Apollo Justice. In the games that have had the 5 point system (the original AA and the crossover), there haven't been any mutli-damage penalties that I can think of (excluding von Karma's insta-guilty moments).

Nah, I'm in the group that doesn't care much for the penalty bar. I always preferred the different designs for the penalty set, and it's interesting to see them fit the aesthetics. The badges are a little on the dull side, but to be fair, an alternative would have been Apollo's hair or something (not that I'd object to that in any case).

Besides, I figured it was obvious since Nick has the same system in the Kurain court, so I'd wonder why they'd change it up for Apollo if they did.

As a system, I like the penalty bar, in the sense it can add a sense of threat to specific scenes by giving different values of 'importance'. But as a indicator I really dislike it. It is too game-like. Not that I'm so immersed in the world when I'm playing the games, but most of the GUI is fairly clean of elements that are clearly game-grammar, so seeing a green bar appear randomly really bugs me. And while I can think of reasons why some penalties should be heavier than others, I don't think a HP bar is good indicator for that in this particular game. Why would fault A be worth 29.3% bar, and fault B 68.9294949%? A digital counter (instead of an analog one) makes much more sense, so that brings us back to the strikes.

The penalty bar would work better if it was inversed, I think: it starts out empty, and you fill it up with penalties until the judge says you're out. Practically, it would work the same, but it makes more sense (also visually) to say you were out because you added up too many mistakes and not the other way around.

I'm in your boat, too. I don't care about the gauge or anything like it. But I do agree that the gauge added drama to some moments. So if you had me choose between the gauge and the icons, I'd choose the gauge.

Edit:

I found an article in Siliconera concerning their impression about the DEMO. Here's the link to a thread I made:

I prefer the 5 strike system to the penalty bar, just because its a more constant thing. I see the greater threat of the bar increasing, but on the other hand I always just reset the game if I get too far down on the bar so maybe I'm not playing the right away haha. I think the original GBA versions of the trilogy made you go back to the beginning of the chapter if you ran out of penalties, so it would probably matter to me then. Also, I don't remember DD very well (haven't played it since it was released, hoping to play it really soon) but I just played the AAI games and it seems the Yamazaki team doesn't really use the bar in a very suspenseful way. In fact I think in the AAI games it give you much more than 5 chances so in that respect this is harder.

I don't really care for the badges though. I think its because they're at an angle; I think I'd like it better if they were just flat circles.

There was an article on Gematsu (http://gematsu.com/2016/02/ace-attorney-6-details-basic-systems) that provided some new info but I'm assuming there wasn't a news article about it since most of the info was old, but they did mention that some of the items would be viewable in 3D which makes me happy as this only happened twice in Dual Destinies (I think). I also like how much they are drilling in that every place will be able to be examined. So I'm very excited.

Oh, cool. I liked looking at items in 3D. Hopefully scientific investigations make a return in GS6, but as frequent as 1-5. :lana:

Yeah I really enjoyed 3D evidence, too, and that was frustrating to have none of that in DD. I'm guessing GS6 might not have as much as 1-5 or AJ but I bet it will be comparable to AAI where something like a murder weapon will be view-able even if something like fingerprint powder isn't.

But the more I hear about GS6 the more excited I become. 8 months to go!

DGS also lets you examine some evidence in 3D, actually. I don't know exactly how frequent it is when compared to DD but it is definitely more.

Well we got DD in october and this game seems to be following the same release schedule as during that game they were also localizing at the same time. So my guess is July for Japan and October for the West.

Having said that, with DD they announced they were working on it in Janurary of 2012 and they showed it off at TGS 2012. With GS6 I think they said they were starting work on it around the time Capcom announced DGS. While this was likely just a "hey, we're going to be doing this soon" and not them actually starting to work on it heavily, that might mean we could get it earlier. I doubt it though.

Actually they seem to be a little bit faster this time.

AA5
TGS 2012 - First trailer
March 2013 - Confirmation of Apollo's return
April 2013 - First look at the new prosecutor

AA6
TGS 2015 - First trailer
December 2015 - Confirmation of Athena's return
February 2016 - First look at the new prosecutor

It looks like they are roughly two months ahead, so I could imagine a late May/early June release date for Japan.

It's just speculation, though.
On the other hand they gave us AA5's release date together with the unveil of Blackquill, while we still don't have any release date at all for AA6.
But I do think the remodeling of the official website and the reveal of the new prosecutor marked the beginning of the AA6 advertizing campaign and I can't imagine this campaign lasts for more than 3-5 months.

My thoughts exactly. If anything, GS6 might be released a month earlier in each jurisdiction than GS5's release.

We could get it sooner than that, since now they're working on the game and on the localization at the same time.

Well we got DD in october and this game seems to be following the same release schedule as during that game they were also localizing at the same time. So my guess is July for Japan and October for the West.

Pardon, I must've remembered it wrong. I recall they started the localization a bit later, as they were worried it wouldn't have sold much in the west.

I think they were unusually fast in announcing the localization, because the fan base in the west were still skeptic after AAI2 didn't get a release here.

Yeah. DD came about three months later to other regions after Japan. That's surprisingly fast.

I see... basically they're doing the same as 3 years ago in terms of game development/localization, after all. But yeah, it seems like they are going a bit faster now, so we can expect a late spring/early summer release in Japan.

That's called leveling up. At this rate, by GS7, he'll be so ripped that even Jojo will be jealous.

I'm expecting more news by the time April rolls around and the anime begins to air, but can't help but wonder if we'll get lucky in March. That big ol' space for more details on the Investigation segments is so enticing. And, uh, I suppose we've got a bit more space for the prosecutors and Kurainese folks. But I'm most looking forward to case 3, if they follow DD's schedule of released info.

It's been a sort of "trend" nowadays for Japanese developers to try and localize their video games as speedy as possible to try and release their products without too many months of differences between each region, or aim for a global release.

I think the GS Anime will be something like what the Pokemon Anime is to the video games: advertisement. Granted, I am NOT making direct comparisons with the GS and Pokemon Animes, but my point is that the GS Anime is a perfect opportunity for Capcom to generate momentum for the GS series.

Actually, we already knew that. They basically already told us. In an interview more than a year ago, series producer Eshiro already stated they had considered producing an anime in the past, but they never got the timing right (presumably, with the new release of a main series game). So to Capcom, anime as a medium has always just been a means to draw more attention to the game series.

Also, I suspect that in the case of a return of Maya in AA6, the AA anime is actually meant to re-introduce the public to her. It would (re-)familiarize people with her in the months leading up to AA6's release, ending with a return to the Phoenix & Maya duo in AA6.
