No, I'm not saying that GK2 is getting localized, but myself, and Capcom's Sven got asked questions regarding GK2 and localization in general.

You can read the interview at The Outset Village

I should also warn that the view's I expressed about GK2's lack luster sales, localization, and protagonist of GS5 are my own conjectures based upon what I've observed.

But MAN, I desperately want to be wrong about the protagonist.

oh noez AAI2 spoilerzzzzzzzz (whoever that guy is in the last pic... haven't seen him before)

At first I thought this was an interview with Sven or someone about AAI2... but you're plenty good, Wooster <3 It's a good thing this reporter didn't decide to do the story a week earlier :P

About Phoenix/GS5... the PWvPL thing does make some sense. I haven't actually considered that possibility before, and as much as I love Nick, I think I would also be disappointed if he were the protagonist of GS5. Not to mention the fact that if they want the fans to 'recognize' him from PWvsPL, they'd have to revert him back to his GS1-3 look, and doing that on top of making him the protagonist would just be.... ugh......

(...although I wouldn't mind revamped Nick court sprites ^_^ But it's still something they should've done in AJ for the flashback trial!! :edgeworth: )

EDIT: First :gant:

Nice interview, was interesting to read.
I'll actually be happy if Phoenix is the Protagonist in AA5, because he's my fav character. Will still prefer Apollo thought.

I guess we can only wait for now for the next news.

I wonder if they will really release it in the 3DS, I doubt that greatly thought.

Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth - OMG Edgeworth spin-off!

Lol, so true.

If localisation is not possible, we always have the fan translation. Even though it's progressing at a snail's pace. :-P

Indeed, Wooster, I hope you're wrong about the protagonist of GS5. For great Justice!

OMG Edgeworth's possible change in occupation? Or OMG Gregory Edgeworth?

I'd want Apollo Justice to be the protagonist of GS5. There's so much left to explore in AJ, like the black psyche locks, and Gant being Apollo's father...

Yeah, that'd need Phoenix's involvement, which would interfere with 'spotlight on Apollo'. And then it's AJ1(?) all over again...

Not to mention that they were Kristoph's psyche-locks, and Kristoph is a part of Nick's disbarment and everything, so it wouldn't only have Nick's involvement, but also still have to be about Nick and the whole Gramarye/Gavin thing. (Which, incidentally, I'm sick of. One whole game was enough, let's move onto something new, shall we?)

A good read, Woost, and sums up my feelings about the series pretty well. I hadn't thought of it in terms of "OMG factor", but AAI2 did seem least likely to be brought over simply by dint of subject matter.

And arrrrrrgh Capcom please don't make GS5 star Phoenix. His story is done. Let's move on.
Hi! I've largely stepped back from C-R due to life stuff. Please contact one of the other staff members for help!

Not necessarily. Maybe those Black Psyche-Locks hold something deeper than his motives? Maybe it has something to do with his past (and maybe Apollo's)? Kristoph was Apollo's mentor, there's a lot about those two that we don't know. This could as well be a chance to peek into Apollo's life before he became a lawyer.

Ooops, went on my epileptic tree instead. :-P

But I agree this is not effective in putting Apollo at the center, since Phoenix will still be there, watching. :igarashi:

Although I still think it would be possible for Phoenix to be in GS5 without stealing the spotlight from Apollo, I absolutely agree that Apollo should be the protagonist.

On that note, we've already made plenty of noise about wanting GK2 to be localized, and it's been duly noted on multiple occasions, so all we can do now is wait and see what happens. Now if we really want Apollo to be the protagonist of any potential GS5, I suggest we shift our attention and energy to that issue and be VOCAL about it. It may be difficult to get people ginned up about a game that doesn't even exist right now, and it may also be that the base is so divided that a strong, united front on the issue is impossible. Still, all I'm saying is that if we really want it, it couldn't hurt to start making noise about it and let them KNOW how we feel, even if our efforts ultimately don't make any impact.

Spoiler: Sadly that doesn't count in 'OMG' factor
Gregory didn't show up in the marketing, and this is the first time I've heard that Edgeworth might change his job. Even then, it's not like we saw Edgeworth in a different uniform, thus there was never any fear, and thus not OMG-ish.

The sad thing is, the OMG factor is in how intricate the plot is. That's why I was getting hyped for it, and that's part of why the fan localisation started.

Despite what I just said, it ought to be remembered that questions such as who should be the protagonist of GS5 are completely meaningless in the face of a much bigger problem: the crux of the series, that is, its fundamental conflict, has already been resolved. This is why Takumi said that he "considered the series finished" with GS4.

Perhaps, and perhaps not. In the first game, it was established the reason for the 3 day trial where the seeming concept is 'Guilty until Proven innocent' is to help speed the judicial system along. If you can be proven innocent in the pretrial then there's no need to have the more drawn out prime trial. As anyone who's earned an improper guilty verdict can attest, the Judge always refers to another trial at a later date for the defendant.

Presumably, to keep the 3 Day Trial short, you could keep the jury on reserve for the major trials. That'd solve both problems.

I entirely agree with the interview (even Woost's comment on how Phoenix stole Apollo's spotlight). I believe that if they make a GS5, Apollo should be the REAL protagonist this time. But if they want people to buy the game, then put Feenie and Edgeworth in it as "fillers" (but please, write them professionally, just because they're filler doesn't mean they get to be scripted boring...). They can also put Polly, Nick, Edgey, and new character in the boxart to keep fans on edge about the game (that is, if they DO release it).

That is all I've got to say.

Good thing that at least Layton VS AA seems kinda guaranteed.

Surprised if there'd be AAI3?
Well...Maybe so, but we can always hope, correct?

Maaan...Now they mentioned Apollo too...
How I miss that lil guy...Give him a sequel already.
...And please let it be Phoenix free or at least don't let him mastermind the whole game. D:
Maybe he wins in a lottery and takes a world trip, leaving Api and Trucy alone?
Meh...

Hiii...! Feeling excited again.
It's not over as long there's even a slight line of hope.

Ahh, I must admit that didn't occur to me. A very nice rationale for limited (and probably offscreen) continuance of the Jurist System. Thanks very much for responding!

It'd be kinda of funny if there's going to be a GK4 and Edgey is disbarred and the focus turns from the protagonist to Edgey-poo, lol.

I just want you guys to know you've absolutely made my night.

Today's site traffic was more than 5x the previous record, and I'd wager more than 15x my average daily traffic (I haven't had time to work it out properly, yet). And the post on the CR homepage wasn't even up for the whole day!

See, this is the power of Ace Attorney fans. Capcom should take note. :)

EDIT: Oh, and the post in question is now the most viewed page on my site, by more than 8x!

That said, post Lost, I haven't really liked the Capcom AA forums. Very whiny, and without direction.

I concur to all who said: "Let us hope there is going to be GK5 with less Phoenix"
About the higher probability of AAI2 getting an at least English localisation: Yay! Can´t freaking wait for it!

Am I the only one that wants Phoenix to be the protagonist of GS5? It's just that I've never liked playing as Apollo (and I was quite glad that Case 4 of AJ gave me to play s Phoenix - even if it was for only a little while).

That's not to say that there's not a good many people who want to see Apollo Justice 2! :yuusaku:
It's a bad topic not worth debating especially since there's no GS5 on the horizon.

I'm hoping if AAvsLayton sells well here it might generate enough interest for them to decide localising AAI2 is worthwhile.

Sadly, I don't consider Madam Judge to be OMG factor. The series is notorious for over the top characters, so one more isn't noticeable.

I just want there to be a GS5, whether there's Apollo or Nick as the main focus or not. Perhaps it should really be Apollo this time, and Nick could take on the Mia role (having decided to take the Bar again).
What I don't want is there to be a completely new character again, I mean, Apollo still has lots of history we dont know about. We learnt less about Apollo in AJ than we did about Phoenix in the first 4 cases of PW:AA, and that was what made me sad, and made AJ a good/very good game instead of a great one, IMO :(
