Now, previously we've reported that some French Online Websites were accepting preorders for Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney, and those were set to be out in late November. But, considering aside from those three online French shops, we haven't heard anything about Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney's western release, I still remain skeptical about their claims. (But I'd love to be pleasantly surprised by such a release!)

But, on the more credible end of things, Play Asia has opened preorders for the Japanese version of the game. Now, before you start going there and clicking BUY BUY BUY, remember the 3DS is region locked. This means, you can't play Japanese 3DS games, not without a Japanese 3DS. (Not Cool Nintendo. Not Cool.)

Further, unlike Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All, and Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Trials and Tribulations, this game is Japanese only. So not only do you need an imported game and an imported system, you need a good understanding of Japanese. But if you've got money to burn and the skills, and a passionate heart burning red for contradictions that remind you of a puzzle, this may be a cool investment. (Not to mention the bragging rights you'd have here at CR playing the most amazing crossover ever long before we get our hands on a localized version. Just don't mind us when we glare at you with seething jealousy.)

Personally, I might wait until TGS before splurging. Who knows if there might be a limited edition bundle. On the other hand, Play Asia has previously had a hard time keeping these games in stock early on. (On the other hand, you could pre-order and then cancel once/if the limited edition is announced.)

Bah. Come on Level 5! Announce the game in the west already!

Thanks to GSFun for the tip!

:hyde: Huh. While I was browsing Play Asia, I found something interesting pertaining one of Court-Records' favorite games and focus of an elaborate April Fools joke in 2007. Hotel Dusk: Room 215's sequel "Last Window: The Secret of Cape West" is currently on sale with free shipping. Considering I paid $53 total for it, and it's now going for $40 it might be a good idea to pick it up if you missed it and live in North America. CiNG is bankrupt and this game was only released in Europe and Japan. Since this is a European DS game, it's region free and in English, and you can play it in either your DS or 3DS. If you're aching for something to play in the mean time, you might want to give CiNG's last hurrah a try. :mila:

what

not fair

how come Animal Crossing 3DS isn't up for pre-order yet even though it's coming out earlier in the month? ;_;

(I'm planning to get it, but I'm going to have to try to do some smart shopping, just to see if there's a cheaper way I can get it, since it IS kinda pricey...)

If you find somewhere better, then please keep us informed (After you've secured your copy of course!). $75 dollars is expensive no matter how you look at it.

I will just be picking up this at the local game shop on the release date ^_^ [/happen to be in Japan at the moment].

Except for GS2DS and GS3DS, all the Gyakuten titles have had special/limited editions, so I hope they'll announce one for this game too, though Level 5 doesn't seem to have a tradition with that with their popular titles like Layton and Inazuma Eleven. But please give me a branded 3DS LL!

fix'd

When I've looked for games in the past and stuff, usually Play-Asia had the highest prices, but then the shipping for every place but Play-Asia was insane, meaning Play-Asia was the cheapest in the end.

Since I'm planning on getting both this and Animal Crossing, my hope is that getting two things will somehow make the shipping cheaper overall or something, but... I'll see what I can find.

I've already put down an order for this, a 3DS LL, and Time Travelers. End of November's going to be fun.

Oooh. Bolt. I'm going to go and hold your family hostage until you give us your hands on report of Time Travelers.

… just… try to act surprised at the brick that will be thrown with an ominous anonymous letter attached to it through your window.

Well, unfortunately you'll be waiting 'till December, most likely, since I'm getting them all at once. Saves on shipping and gives me an extra few months of Japanese study. And then, of course, with all due respect to Time Travelers, PLvsGS gets priority.

Ah, Time Travelers! Totally forgotten that it's also available on 3DS. Have been checking out market for second hand PSP versions lately, but they still go for quite a lot. But I've been seeing a lot of positive reactions about it on Twitter (retweeted by Ishii himself =_~) and it seems that those who liked Ishii's 428 (which I loved!), will also like this game. Gaaah, I need money.

In my experience, YesAsia tends to be a bit more expensive, but has free shipping from... $30 or so on, which makes it cheaper if you order a lot at once. Though I haven't ordered anything from them in quite some time now, so things might have changed a bit....

I think it will be, but I don't think it will happen anytime soon. I imagine we'll get late 2014 or early 2015, based on the other Layton localization.

I'm still betting we'll get GS5 before this.
I used to have Sam Waterston as my avatar but photobucket added a watermark and also Law & Order has been cancelled for 10 years so it's time for me to move on.

Just a heads up that I got a call from Play-Asia needing to confirm the details of my order, presumably since it was a high-value order and my shipping address is different from my billing address. So if you do choose to import keep one eye on the phone.

This seems logical, but then it would mess up the "One Layton game every year" thing that they have going on in the west, so my guess, is that we get Layton VS GS October 2013, and then Layton 6 in 2014.

Or, they could say, as it isn't part of the main Layton game series thing, they might release it earlier than what i've said. But i dunno.

Nooooo too long!

http://level5ia.com/contact/

If we send them polite messages about how we're soooo excited about the game and will it ever be coming out in English maybe they'll give it more priority.

Not sure if the 'General' or 'PR' form is better.
