We hope to have voting open in the next few days. The voting page will have all the submitted sprites for each of these characters, including animations - the above are just samples.
To anyone who submitted but wasn’t selected as a finalist - thank you for entering! We had a lot of great entries this year, and narrowing them down to 16 finalists was easier said than done. Once voting is complete, we’ll be putting all the sprites, including non-finalists, up on C-R for public viewing.

Indeed, all the entries will be displayed, and there were some really strong ones that didn't quite make the cut. Things were very competitive this year!

Meh, at least ya made it to the finals, though after seeing these it's clear why I didn't in a blink of an eye.
My own entry was just...well compared to these it was just...umm.... so plain and DULL... *way to go lack of motivation, ya owe me for this BIG time next year!*
Not sure yet though who to vote. Alba, red headed guy, "prosecutor Apollo", "baggiepipye" and Hugh...I'd say I'll go with one of those.
...and...just as a sideote...Is it just me or would white tie look great on that Hugh? Well, too late for that and I guess nobody really cares but...Just old nagging habit.
...I dunno...The female on the lowest right...I'm still going back and forth with it.
I mean granted, it looks just zintastic and all but... I'm not sure if I'd truly find her AA...uni...vers...ish.

Let me give you a good example:
I voted for an entry that wasn't AA-sized, but to me, it looked like it could perfectly fit as an AA sprite in an HD AA game. I didn't want it to fit in a 256x192 screenshot, you know what I mean? I just wanted it to look as closely as possible to what the Capcom character designers did for the AA series. Of course we weren't aiming for ULTRA PROFESSIONALISM, and we weren't going to turn this into a "prettiest drawing" contest. We were going for sprites that would fit in the Ace Attorney universe, both for the characters they visually represented and the way they were composed. And in my opinion this sprite succeeded at all that. This sprite made it into the finalists. Not because I decided to, but because, through a voting process, us judges decided it would make the finals. Simple as that.
On the other hand, there was another sprite that also went the "HD" route, but I did not vote for it. Not because it wasn't AA-sized, at all -- if that had been a judging criteria, I wouldn't have voted for the one I mentioned earlier. No, I didn't choose it between my top 10, not even top 15, but for a very good reason: it did not look AT ALL like an AA sprite. It was a very good sprite, but it belonged in The World Ends With You, not Ace Attorney. This sprite did not make it into the finalists -- again, not because I decided to, but because the judging process resulted in it not making the cut. I'm sorry for the sprite's creator, because they obviously have talent, but that's just how it ended up. If they "learn" the "lesson" that is to be "learned" from its exclusion from the finals, I am absolutely certain that on the next Cup they'll make it to the finals, and fight the top spots.
Bottom line is, I know which two sprites you're referring to when you say they "don't belong". And I wholly disagree. In my opinion, and judging by the fact they're finalists, in all of us judges' opinion, to which we arrived by voting and reaching a consensus, they excelled, in one way or another, in all three categories: Creativity, Composition and Style.
I cannot stress this enough: THIS was our judging criteria, and THIS alone. And it is supposed to be, also, the criteria you guys go by when public voting starts... which, btw, should be very soon, as we're finalizing details.
