What happened to the board style?

What happened to the Hotel Dusk board style that used to accompany the 'WHAT A!?' board?

Yes, before you mention it, I know I can just change it to that style via my control panel. I'm just wondering why it doesn't become that theme automatically when I click into that part of the forum anymore.

I guess when they changed the board to add the opera banner etc., they forgot to make What A?! independant.

I do too. It was really a cool way to separate the Hotel Dusk section and the AA section.

Lol I'm lazy I set the HD style as the default style for me because the other ones took so long to load on the dial-up at my grandparents... I'm so lazy and haven't changed it back either xD

This section is dedicated to the game Hotel Dusk. It's another adventure type game (and very good I might add). It's a similar genre to PW, so there are a lot of fans of both. I think the board style is just to distinguish that this board is for Hotel Dusk comments and such. :hyde:

A little background on this board.

CR loves April Fools day. Last year on April 1st, we made the site all Apollo all the time. And the year before that, we weren't Court-Records. We were 'WHAT A!?'.

Hotel Dusk was a super awesome game. So for April Fools day, we decided to change the site into a Hotel Dusk fansite. I mean, we run the site, and there's nothing saying we 'have' to do Phoenix Wright all the time. So we took our Phoenix Wright stuff, quickly and unceremoniously hid it, and replaced the main site with what you see as 'WHAT A!?' in the affiliates section.

For the forums, we changed the Phoenix Wright theme to what you see at the moment. Also, the word filter was Desu'd.

Long time after April Fools was over, we randomly decided to have a Dusk Board. and seeing as we had this theme laying around, why not use it for nostalgia.

I'm actually 'thinking' of updating it. But am not entirely sure.

Can't wait for this years April Fools. And wish I was around last April Fools (should of found court records sooner)
I like the board style both here and th rest of CR
(I've seen other forums with terrible style of forums..)

I remember last year's Apollo Justice-related April Fools shenanigans (despite not being a member at the time), but sadly did not bear witness to the Hotel Dusk humor of two years ago. Not that I would have gotten it anyway, as I hadn't played Hotel Dusk until about a month ago. However, I must say that my decision to buy the game was influenced by this site's mentioning of it.

Although, seeing that "What a!?" page, I was thinking that it would actually say "What a!?" in the game as some sort of translation error, and thus was rather disappointed when it was instead "The hell?" asked as if it was in the form of a question, but lacking the defining term, "what?"

You found the in game reference alright. But the "WHAT A!?" actually stems from the original English Trailer... or was it Japanese. In either case, it was corrected for the actual game release.

yeah, I remember that original trailer. Bad translation aside, I remember it was so awesome. In fact I want to watch it again now:

maaan, it was a such a great moody trailer. Of course the final game didn't quite capture the same mood (they never do), but it still turned out to be a great game.

I was hoping for the original, actually. Personally, I find the large post-boxes, spacing between posts, and avatars/info on the left to be a tad awkward.
