In truth, I can't imagine Capcom pairing up any characters in GS5. On the other hand though, I think that saying that they wouldn't do it because it would upset the fandom is a bit a odd reason. The fandom would go on shipping either way, no matter how many OTPs a future GS destroyed. Moreover, I don't think a big company like Capcom would particularly care about its fandom's shipping communities. Capcom wouldn't pair up the characters because that's not what the game is about. Of course, they could if they really wanted to, but it's probably the last thing on their minds.

But if I chose one, I would go for / all the way. Iris clearly retained a strong affection for him in 3-5, and he definitely took some interest in her, as pointed out by the credits scene. In addition, she could easily still be in jail during GS4 as an accomplice to murder. That should get at least ten to twenty years, even by Ace Atourney's strange laws (Adrian Andrews let off entirely after tampering with a crime scene? I don't think so!). The single fanfic I've written for AA follows that idea.

As for / , I see where people are coming from, but there's no evidence of actual romantic love. Love comes in different shapes and sizes, and the only person Phoenix has ever been seemingly attracted to is Iris. Yes, it was "only" physical attraction, but it was described as Phoenix "constantly [having] [his] eyes on [her]" by Iris herself. That's strong physical attraction, which is an indicator that he has romantic interest in her at least in some small way, which is already more than Maya's sibling-like relationship with Phoenix.




It's nice to see another FeenRis fan (sort of) but I have to disagree with you there. For all that can be said about it, I felt as though the pair could get together after GS3 by the end. I see what you're getting at, but I really think that it's more possible than Phoenix/Maya or anything else like that. I already explained why I think her absence in GS4 can be accounted for.
