I'd rather have 4 sharp, shocking cases than 5 shoddy, messy ones (though as a whole I'd say thats unlikely, the shoddy part I mean for all of them).
I cant wait to see what cases they come up with!

Seriously, I'm hoping for 5. I really really am. Because I really luved T&T and AA (which had 5), but thought AJ was good and disliked JFA (which had 4). Plus, it follows the 5-4-5-4- pattern.
I remember someone said that they had heard a rumor that there would be 7... that would be sweet
(as long as they weren't all rushed. And that might have been for GK, not GS5... I forget....)

5 cases is 5 cases. Besides, they could've left it at 4 cases, but they didn't!
And a trial-only case is still a case. 3-4 was fun and good. Quality > Quantity. (I would prefer a good trial-only case, like 3-4, than a bad 2 or 3-day case)

The part in T&T with
Better that they make the game as good as they can rather than rushing it! I think what makes the series so good is how AJ left me wanting more even if AJ may not be as good in some areas as T&T was, I still enjoyed it a lot.

The first should probably be against Payne. It should also officially introduce the jury system which gives an opportunity to explain the basics of the game. Ever thought that Maya might be a juror? I mean, she is a pretty important person, being the Master of Kurain and so on.
The second should introduce a new prosecutor, with Klavier being on a world tour with his rock band. The new prosecutor should be someone ruthless unlike Klavier. The case could be a "filler" like 1-3, 2-3 and 3-2 were.
The third should revolve around Apollo's family, including Trucy as a half-sister and his unknown father. This case should also feature the new prosecutor.
The fourth should be a fanservice, reintroducing some old characters like Maya, Pearl, Franny and Edgeworth. Maya should NOT be the defendant, as she already was far too many times, but maybe Pearl can be. The victim could be Bikini or whoever. Even if it doesn't have anything to do with channeling, I feel the need of a case like this. This could also be when we see Phoenix and co for the last time when they are really important.
The fifth might be a spiritual continuation of 5-3, revealing a greater truth, much like they only mentioned DL-6 in 1-2 but it was in the center in 1-4.
Like this, Apollo and Trucy could really get some character development, with giving some well-deserved answers about the old cast.
About Klavier, I don't know where he fits in, but hey... my idea will probably not be anything like GS5 in the end.

Maya could be a juror, but being Master of Kurain has nothing to do with it. The entire purpose of the jury system is to inject "the wisdom of the public" i.e. common sense into a case. Having a high-ranking leader of the occult in there may be defeating the purpose!
In any case, let's say 5. And in the next game, 6. I have evidence to re-inforce my theories.

If they had 5, one case can be unrelated to the game in its entirety, but has a connection on at least one case, like 3-2 and 3-3.

Regardless, it began with four cases, the second game continued with four cases, and the final game ended with five cases. It's pretty inconceivable that a simple additional case would intentionally create a pattern.
My two-cents: patterns are not solid indications of anything. They're merely for speculatory purposes. But, everyone knows that some anonymous dev team members is discreetly surfing around these parts and is going to bend over to the fan's every whim and desire. I wouldn't be surprised if the next installment had five cases simply to give the little pests what they want so that they'll shut up and possibly prevent a baw fest within the community.

As for AJ, I'm pretty sure it was kept at four to get newcomers interested in the originals.
I'm thinking that they're pretty much given the license to have five or six cases now that they've established the fanbase.
And what do you mean sloppy and poor? This isn't just some normal series we're talking about. These games DEPEND on case quality. They're not about to fuck that up.

Well, we could say they had that many trials... but since they were related incidents its really one "case".

Personaly, I don't think their trying to do a pattern or anything of the sort. Remember how Grossberg was limited to two animations? Its limited how much they can fit on the card... Isn't it? (I'd hate to hear they were just ripping us off when they could have fit more cases in

But think of the development time that would add on to the game. T&T had 5 cases because the fourth one was short, and several of the cases used pre-existing characters. To have six full cases that weren't just a parade of rehashes, you'd have to tack a lot of time onto the development process.
I'd rather it not take that long for the game to come out
