But anyway... I doubt they'll do it.
They had a particular pattern.
AA: Case Specific (Manfred; Gant)
JFA: Case Specific (Engarde)
T&T: Over the course of the Game (Dahlia; Godot)
AJ: Over the course of the Game (Kristoph)
So yeah. They already had two games with "epic" villans. The next one should be Case Specific.

I don't think Phoenix would be the killer, but something about the final case would make him disagree with Apollo. Because of the circumstances, Apollo REALLY think the defendant is innocent and Phoenix REALLY think the defendant is guilty. A rift develops between Phoenix and Apollo. Then Apollo finds the defendant innocent. Phoenix and Apollo eventually make up. Something like that, anyway...
I think there really needs to be something in the plot that will keep Apollo from relying on others so much. (especially Phoenix) Polly needs to be his own lawyer, y'know? :P

I think Phoenix as the final rival (as a prosecutor, which actually makes sense given his character shifts) would be a good device. It would put the implied rivalry and tension between Apollo and Phoenix to both test and conclusion. It would also create a dilemma for Trucy, who is a bit of stress away from a full breakdown. In fact, it'll tear apart most of the characters and even give excuse to bring back old characters (if that's your thing).

Yeah, you need serious practice. Klavier was practically leading you through your defenses. I coulda beat him in half the time. I think I'll become a prosecutor in order to force you to hone your skills.
But, weren't you baned from being a lawyer? Oh, I don't think that will be a problem. I've got some friends at the prosecutor's office. I'll just pull some stings and... And Apollo never won a case again.

Actually, I had a thought like that... except in my mind, the defendant is actually guilty, and Apollo's just gone corrupt.
