Seriously, poor guy.

In his honor, I propose the title be: "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Sorry Apollo, You're Just Not Popular Enough"

Wow, I never really noticed I did that. Guess Apollo's not even popular in my subconscious.

I guess he's more "Luigi" than "Sonic", you know, because of the whole "I am underrated, ignored, unpopular and I acknowledge it to the point where people joke openly about my sidekick-ness"

... Phoenix & Apollo: Supercourt Saga? Court's Inside Story?...

I'm going to vote for something like "Phoenix Rising." Titles with the word "rise" in them are strangely in vogue right now, there's the potential to reference rebirth in the character's name...uh yeah. something.

Beyond anything else, I'd think the series would stick to its roots and subtitle the game with something directly related to law, as "Justice For All" and "Trials & Tribulations" did.

One idea I had was "Letter of the Law". Seems like the kind of thing they'd go for.

Good one, except he's not called Phoenix in Japan, so that would only work in the west.

How about:

Phoenix Wright: Return to Court
Phoenix Wright: Double Jeopardy
Phoenix Wright: Return from the Ashes (Though I guess that may to similar to Rise from the Ashes)
Phoenix Wright: Lost Law

This is sort of off topic, but has anyone noticed the similarities between Metal Gear and Ace Attorney? Both series have a main protagonist that everyone likes (Solid Snake, Phoenix Wright). Then they're replaced by a new main character that everyone hates (Raiden, Apollo Justice). Then the main character comes back, though much older (Metal Gear Solid 4, Gyakuten Saiban 5). Snake and Phoenix also have fall from grace stories. Snake is framed for acts of terrorism that he didn't commit and has to clear his name (Metal Gear Solid 2). Phoenix Wright is wrongly accused of submitting illegal evidence and has to turn in his attorney's badge. The teacher/student relationship between Solid Snake and Raiden is also very similar to Phoenix Wright and Apollo.

This is probably all coincidence but it's been said that Shu Takumi and Hideo Kojima are friends. Maybe they influenced each other?

I thought it might be something kinda cheesy like, 'Phoenix Wright - In The Name Of The Law

I'm actually very pleased with the way Capcom is taking the series' plotline. (Though I dislike the way they're not giving us everything)
I love that Phoenix is back as the protagonist, but that the GS4 storyline is kept in the background. To me his storyline is more interesting than that of Apollo. I liked him but he didn't feel the some as Phoenix.
To me it means more if it's a mix of all the characters rather than just GS4.

In all seriousness, I'm finding it's hard to visualize an official name for this game. They've already used the obvious ones and they were able to escape the situation with GS4 since it was Apollo's first game.

The other problem I can see with using the normal naming system is that without the numbers, people who aren't die-hard fans of the series sometimes have a hard time discerning if it's a new game or a re-release. On the other hand, having a number on the game would look weird and out of place, so it seems like they run into issues however they do it.

It should just be called

"PHOENIX"

then the sequel can be

"PHOENIXES"

followed by

"PHOENIX3"

after that no one will care anymore, yet they will still make

"PHOENIX: STATUTE OF LIMITATION"

and it will be terrible. Then, many years later, they will make a new, interesting, awesome game which is kind of a prequel yet is kind of a reboot:

GROSSBERG

And it will be amazing but all the fanboys will get upset about how there are so many plot holes and how there aren't any Phoenix Wrights in the game even though there's one RIGHT THERE AT THE END OF THE MOVIE GAME. They'll blame Damon Lindelof.

And we'll be back to where we started before they announced GS5.
(and yes, AAI2 will still not be localized, even though there was a plan to do it under the new title PHOENIX VS. PROSECUTOR).

If they really wanted to go crazy with reversing the titles it could be

Attorney Wright: Ace Phoenix

And they could put the subtitle before, so it could be

--Apollo's not going to be happy about this game starring--
ATTORNEY WRIGHT: ACE PHOENIX

If they are really worried about sales, they could always localize the names and character models so that they're less anime and more suited for American audiences. Anyone else want to see GS5 recut as George Costanza: Ace Neurotic?

Personally, I always wonder where Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney came from in the first place, as I actually think just "TURNABOUT" would be a good title. (although it doesn't really get the law thing across).

If they ever do a live action PW TV Show, I think that's what they should call it: "TURNABOUT". Because "Ace Attorney" sounds pretty rediculous when it's on at 9PM Thursday nights on network television.

The only problem that I can imagine is that people might mistake it for the first game in the series. I'm sure that hardcore fans like us, won't though. :D

Either way, it's really a joke title that'll probably never be taken seriously. But I can hope right? ^_^

Plus the first time (every time, actually) I ever heard the words "Ace Attorney," it just made me think of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective. (Sure, there are some similarities with the investigations and the fact that the main character has weird hair, but it's definitely not on the top list of things I care to associate with the series.)

I just always thought it sounded "non-serious". Which is fine for the games but since an Americanized Live action version would no doubt be as crazy, the title wouldn't really work.

There was one episode of the show "House, M.D." Where Dr. House was talking about his ex-lover who was the hospital's lawyer. He said something along the lines of "You're Ace Attorney over there needs to stop bothering me" or something like that.
So every time I read the title of an AA game it's always

(no one in particular saying): Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice/Miles Edgeworth
followed by
Hugh Laurie shouting: ACE ATTORNEY!

Kinda weird.

I don't think "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" is that bad as a videogame name, lots of other games have the character's name on the title. An Turnabout Trial sounds kinda generic to me.
___
Too bad Rise from the Ashes is taken. Seriously, I don't know why they named that case with that name on the first place. Even when they knew Phoenix was going to have an impeding fall and a glorious return was always a possibility.

Maybe they are really going with 3D puns. Or something about the jurist system.
