:phoenix: - Objection with Mia's ghost being one with (like in the end of 3-5)

:maya: - A large psyche-lock constricts the enemy making him/her immobile. Breaking the lock also causes damage. (hard to animate! needs a "trapped" sprite for each character!)

:edgeworth: - No idea yet....

:franny: - 8 swift hits of her whip.

:pearl: - Throws gravy from the roast to "gravely roast" the enemy OR her ball hitting the enemy for damage.

:godot: - A Laser Beam.....just like Devil's from tekken....

:udgy: - Pounds the enemy with his gavel.

:karma: - um.....a head bang perhaps


Yeah I know my ideas suck hehehehe

In response:

1. Ahaha, that's what I was trying to get at. I just couldn't articulate it very well. XD;

2. I figured that all prosecutors and the major cross-examined witnesses should be either playable or you play against them, and then some of the more minor people be relegated to support characters.

3. XD I didn't want it too complicated cuz it'd be a little hard to play on a keyboard...Maybe if we can really pull this off and many, many things come together, Capcom will be like, "HOT DAMN, THIS IS COOL. LET'S PUT IT ON WII WARE." : D Or I'll get a cease-and-desist. One of those.

4. I don't like the idea of finishers. I like the idea of a super-powered but avoidable special attack that causes a lot of damage but not necessarily instant KO, though.

5. Haha, I actually thought of making the psyche lock break one of Phoenix's special attacks too.


When I thought about their moves, I kinda thought about how the Naruto Ultimate Ninja games and Smash Bros play. Those systems are pretty simple and would probably work well if you were playing on a keyboard. So I figured in this game, there'd be basic attacks like a punch combo sequence like in Naruto, and some special attacks that need direction + key sequence to execute [and use up your special meter]. Then there'd be your special attacks that you can do when your special meter is full [and maybe a less powerful one for when the meter is half].

For the sake of terminology, I'm gonna call Finishers [special meter full] "Decisive Evidence," since I was gonna call the special meter your Evidence Meter.

:phoenix: : I was gonna make his Decisive Evidence move the psyche lock break, but yours sounds awesome too. :D

:maya: : Hmm...Since Maya isn't really involved with psyche locks, I don't feel like that'd be a good representation of her. I was thinking something along the lines of her channeling someone...

:edgeworth: : Haha, I thought he could crush the witness [opponent] with overwhelming evidence, and then the judge would bang the gavel on the opponent and say, "GUILTY." XD

:franny: : I wasn't really sure about her either, so right now 8 whip hits sounds good.

:pearl: XD !! Awesome.

:godot: : I kinda wanted to make the laser beam a non-Decisive move just because I think people would get a kick out of using it more often. XD Maybe like Vitor-Leal and have him do a sword move...Actually, never mind, super laser beam attack would be awesome as a Decisive move.

:udgy: : XD I didn't really want to play with the judge, but that'd be a good move for him.

:karma: : This is a hard one...Maybe he should do a headbang and then pull out a gun and shoot them. :D Or taser.

Okay, so I got tired of coding [I'm kinda failing at making the sprite jump right now...I'm really sleepy], so I made this English logo for the game. : D It's part of my placeholder background anyway, so it's not completely random. Enjoy. I'll probably have some super-duper rough Java applet ready sometime soon. XD

I didn't realize the white was so rough. It looks better when it's on a white background....I'll smooth it out sooner or later.

I know what gumshoe could do for his finisher...first Missle charges them and bites them...next gumshow shows them a real pistol...and shoots them...finally ending with a metal detector just as an insult to injury...

Its like the essence of Gumshoe all put into one finishing combo xD
( I think when gumshoe does a taunt he should get a salary deduction on screen xD )

ALSO! I COME BEARING GIFTS!

To prove that I'm not just blathering on and on about how I want to make this game, I've uploaded the Java version of my attempt to make a sprite jump. It's only a super-buggy version that lets you move a Phoenix placeholder left and right and jump. The jump is really messed up right now, but I'm not an awesome programmer and this is only the work of an hour or so.

Go crazy, guys. Cuz like...making a sprite do buggy jumps is great fun. Really.
Please tell me what problems you encounter.

CLICK HERE FOR [sorta] AWESOME. [You need Java installed. You probably do, so don't worry too much about it. Also, press up to jump and left and right to move...left and right. Be patient. It might take a few moments to load.]


Known problems:
  • Spam up and left/right to keep Phoenix in the air. It's very entertaining.
  • If you manage to jump correctly, you can get Phoenix stuck on Edgeworth
  • Phoenix will keep hopping if you hold the up key
  • It is very boring and doesn't do anything. WHY WON'T HE ATTACK, DAMMIT?!

Very nice XD I especially like how you can make Phoenix fly essentially.

I'd still think Edgey's desk slam into the ground move would be a good finisher.
I can just see him leaping from his desk high into the sky, grabbing his opponent by the face then forcing their skull into the ground.....smashing it in once more for good effect, followed by a bow.

I think all the bugs can be fixed if you make it so you can't jump if you're already in the air :godot:

actually when pearls sad in the game if you remember he says aww...dont cry...here...how about i show you a real pistol...then he usually gets whipped by von karma...

thats why i thought to add it in the final attack because it seemed to add some humor to it...especially since theres the metal detector xD

Oooh, I feel like I remember that. My cousin needs to give my games back so I can play through the cases again. Hahaha.

Some updates

Fixed the jump issue where he can jump forever in the air. It took me a couple of hours [including time distracted, which takes up the bulk of the time XD] to figure out how to fix it. He also goes through Edgeworth now, because I don't think you're supposed to stop moving just cuz you touch the other fighter.

But now I have a question: In fighting games, does holding the jump button typically make you jump continually?

I kinda wanna say that I remember doing that a lot when I was little, but it might just be faulty memory on my part. The last time I played a fighting game was when I got bored and played Soul Calibur 2 a few months ago, but that's 3D, so yeah. Anyhow, I could try fixing that continual jump thing, but that's a problem that isn't trivial [for me]. Haha. And that is why I'm asking. XD

Should the jump height be higher? Hahaha.

Can't the PSP emulate SNES games? I have my friend's PSP right now so maybe I could download Street Fighter or something and refresh my memory...

Aww...no more flying Phoenix XD

Still in most fighting games to my knowledge....2D one on ones at least the characters normally can't go through each other. Wonder why...

I think Dahlia should hit people with her umbrella. And as a finisher, she could spear them through the chest (You know she's sharpened it), open it inside them and stand over them laughing.

Dahlia isn't a laugher. I think more... maybe her mischeivous look (like in 3-5) would do good. If you want a laugher, look for the NEW Berry Big Circus' Ringmaster.

I'm surprised nobody actually brought this up...but i would love, love , love to help with the voices tho' it'd be easy to try to pull off and i think detective and police officers should not be support but part of the prosecution or defense in certain cases..

tho' ripping it the special court cases with the judge,edgeworth,klavier and apollo in em (orchestra)would reach perfection..
