Just letting you know that even though I don't really post here much anymore, I am keeping the funding for the site topped up, so it won't be going anywhere. (I have in fact just recently transferred the domain registration to the new host, I previously only had transferred the hosting and not the domain registration).

Just to say something...X: The ad-blocker thing...well, I guess it is my problem. But I tried for 3 - 4 hours trying to allow pop-ups from the site, before deciding to turn off my antivirus program and windows defender to try to get it to work. It worked, once, then didn't again. Umm, this isn't much of a complaint, but did anyone else have this problem accessing the wiki? I was stumped... :payne:

I only had to put the website on the whitelist for my ad blocker. I didn't need to do anything with my firewall or anti-virus.

LJH > I'm sorry to be such a pain, but an unknown user (with a floating IP-address, it seems) keeps updating the wiki page for my fangame with unnecessary comments. I think only members should be allowed to make contributions, so you can ban them if they're not needed. Would it be possible? Thanks a lot.

I think only members should edit, but will this stop the problem?

Ping', I fixed the page.

Thanks, KSA!

And yes, I do think it'll solve the problem, it's not like there are hundreds of them doing the same thing.

Not necessarily.

Think a person A is vandalizing your page. He registers as qwerty1, and has an ip xyz.
He gets banned by ip, but he then gets a new ip. He can re-register, and start the process again.

The best solution is to not care, simply fix the page. It will eventually stop. They all want attention, nothing else.

I remember having the same thing done to my page last year.
Why not set it only you can edit the page?

Though it goes against the wiki spirit, it would be even better in my view, yeah :p

Lock all pages = bad. As Ping' said, it kills the wiki idea, and anyonewho would wantto add a new page for their game would have to go and ask an admin.

But if this continues, the idea of putting each game author the only one possible to edit their pages can be a good idea.

Hm. I don't really think that's nessecary, as authors may not always update their page with the latest info, so it's free for other people to do so (provided it's accurate, of course). Besides, locking it to the creator only would be very difficult for me.

Is there still anyone in charge of this thing?
Because people still use it to showcase their projects, and it's a complete mess.
The wiki pages - and especially mine - keep being updated by an user with changing IP. The guy seems to have something against me or my game in particular, for all it's worth. Either that or he seriously needs a life. Whatever the reason, it's pretty irritating.
Not to mention the forums, which are not only useless, but invaded by spammers.
Can someone make it stop? As I said, GyakutenWiki is not dead. New projects are being added every week or so...

Large necro however I have updated Gyakuten Wiki in my spare time, organizing all of the games in each section properly. Most games have fallen into the Planned or Unknown stage so if one of those is yours, make sure you move it back and post an update. I checked every game to make sure they haven't had an update notice so everything should be correct. Also, everything is now organized in alphabetical order.

Curiously, there is only one complete fan game on the entire Gyakuten Wiki. That would be The Bitter Turnabout by Okappa.

Yes, for some reason, many finished AAO cases are not on this wiki.
Technically though, Silence of the Turnabout has a page, but as an unfinished case in an abandoned project, while in reality it's a complete standalone case (and a great one at that).

By the way, I'm pretty sure Axel Trugh is not "active".

Agreed with Ping': something needs to be done about the mystery "messer-arounder" (that's original...), if they haven't already been dealt with.

I don't know what happened but that person or someone similar keeps changing the page of Matt Silver - Ace Attorney.

If there isn't an actual admin around to keep an eye on things, I suggest restricting editing to registered users. Even a small barrier like that will prevent a large chunk of spam and vandalism without punishing legit users.

My MediaWiki skills are kind of rusty, but I did spend the better part of a year editing one and still work in web design...if I can help out in some way, let me know. It would be nice to update the wiki with the newer cases from here, if that's cool.

lukegb is the current administrator of Gyakuten Wiki. LJH has left CR and GW so everything should be forwarded to him. Your idea was raised in this thread but there were a few concerns over it.

There shouldn't be, is what I'm saying. If the site grows, it will eventually become popular enough to require registration simply to keep spambots out. Might as well pull the trigger sooner rather than later, since there are already problems. Will registration put off some people? Probably, but so will the possibility that they'll have to monitor the wiki all the time to prevent vandalism.

The reason I asked about admins is because they have better tools for dealing with trolls and bots. (Regular users can revert changes manually, but they don't have one-touch revert or banning tools.) It's well and good if there are people monitoring, I just think requiring registration would free up some time for them to do more productive things with the site - and I'm willing to help out with that, because I like the wiki and want to see it succeed.

Hmm, can't find a smilie for shrugging. I guess because they don't have shoulders!
