The case will be edittable, once I release it. This means you can edit the text/evidence IDs, etc. as much as you guys want.

I spent a long time trying to make this point to KSA, too - putting an arbitrary limit isn't going to do you a favour. Either let the user set the limit, or don't /have/ a limit (or at least one beyond what would reasonably be used - if you can't add and remove slots as nessecary, then set a limit higher than realistically will be used EVER).

Why would I let the user set the limit? The casemaker automatically sets the limit to the amount of evidence/profiles gained during the game, like in original Phoenix Wright.

Your post about upgrading from 8 to 16 made it sound like the casemaker only lets authors use 16 evidence maximum. Is this not the case? If this is true, it's an arbitrary limit, and it would be better to allow the author to use as few or as many evidence as they like, letting the engine deal with showing the pages correctly.

Maybe you already do it this way, your last few posts were a little vague.

The casemaker automatically sets the amount of pages determined by the amount of evidence or profiles available to the player.

For example, if the player has evidence number 9, he will be able to access the 2nd page.

But what we're saying is that only being able to have 16 Evidence/Profiles is a bit limiting. Many of the cases have more than that no. of evidence pieces.

Eh, making a change to add more sheets is a little time consuming, the DS works in layers so that you need to reload all sprites, pages and have the sprites specifically work depending on the sheet given. This means that I need to reconfigure all functions of previous item leverages with the new current one. However, I will see if I can probably upgrade to 24 evidence/profiles.

I would think one could use just eight sprites and then reassign the graphics for each of the eight sprites on page flip using PA_UpdateSpriteGfx(). Am I mistaken?

I AM CURRENTLY SPRITING THE FIRST FEW ANIMATION SPRITES ON THE LIST LOCATED ON THE FIRST POST.

If you would like to contribute by helping me sprite, please sprite the bottom sprites rather than the first ones. Thank you.

EDIT : I have finished April May, Redd White, and Frank Sahwit.

Hmm.

So, I'm an idiot.

Apparently, .gif support incorporates transparent backgrounds. I do not need to continue the current spriting system.

EDIT: This does, mean, however, that I do not need to code sprites anymore. Rather, I can just use this system and the .gifs will play automatically. :)

Never mind, .gif support requires an 8bit background, which is already being used by the text. This means it is impossible to incorporate both at the same time =\

This also means, however, that all our current spriting has not gone without waste. The current animation method will still apply.

I'm sure there's a workaround... Even if you have to lower textbox quality somehow...

The problem with loading .gifs on the same layer of the text are:

1. The palette colour of the layer changes to a mixture of the total colours of the .gif. This means, if I load a red .gif, the text will come out as red, no matter what.

2. The GIF halts all system action until it is fully loaded (can take a while) and then the text will load after (It is impossible to play a GIF while anything else is happening).

Not to worry though, I'll just use this method for now.

Yeah, I would leave gifs alone. You could probably set it up to swap pallettes but, I don't know if it's worth it. As far as converting gifs though, an automatic converter could be written fairly easily for the pc which loads the gifs and spits out the frames so that they don't have to manually be converted. This tool could help: http://www.lcdf.org/gifsicle/

That's awesome! The only problem though, is that DS's do not manually read for transparency if the files are backgrounds. This means that I would still need to place a magenta background in each of the transparent backgrounds.

EDIT:

Polly, Yanni Yogi, Sal Manella, Dee Vasquez all complete.

Can't you stick the textbox on another layer?

It's not the textbox, it's the text. And no, I cannot because the text requires an 8 bit background, just like the GIF. Plus the GIF stalls the game while it is playing, there's really no use of them.

Not 100% sure on how to do the sprites, so I thought I would post here first.

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=846e ... b9a8902bda

That has one :keiko: Normal talking animation. Did I do it right? No blinks, right? Her suit flashes when she is done talking. Is this a seperate animation? I hope I can help in some way. Can't wait! :will:

Thank you for your contribution :D Adding your name to credits now.

EDIT: I noticed that you only finished the normal animation. The credits will work determining on the % of the sprite on has done. Just wondering if you would like to complete the rest, because I might be getting there soon enough (in a day or two).

Ah, um the detailed explanation is on the first post. Check there for an explanation on how to make them.

Looking first hand on this sprite, however, looks like you know what you're doing. Good luck with the rest!

All sprites in both Phoenix Wright AA and Phoenix Wright JFA are complete!

I'm going to take a break and work on any finishing touches for the source code and will be back on working on the sprites until then.
