I still haven't decided the last beta testers (was busy with some other things), but tomorrow I may announce one more tester.

News:
- (AIGE) Small optimization on AHLSL Compiler.
- (PWLib) Changed way PWLib is compiled. Now PWLib is only compiled when it is initialized (by the pw_initpwlib is executed). This is a preparation for a future feature on AHLSL (that will be delayed to not delay PWLib 1.2's release any longer).

@October: I had a problem like that. I said: I don't get the error of "target script missing" thing. It is missing the script "game". How is this remedied? Ksatech said:
You need to script your game on a txt or hlsl file, then place it on the auto folder. This script file needs a script block/function named "game" for that message to not show.

eg.

[game]
//begin my game here
//load pwlib, etc

Does this help?

News:
- (AIGE) Fixed crash related to lists under certain circunstances.
- (PWLib) Added new screen to show PWLib is been compiled. More information on this later on.

I'm working on a new feature for Investigations that may satisfy a lot of people. DeMatador commented about a limitation PWLib presented while working with Investigations, and some talk later, I worked up on a solution that may make PWLib a lot easier to work on.

Also I'm quite indecise about the last 3 beta testers. I need people who can be available to be able to talk and test features.

I made the PWLib In A Nutshell pdf boof for reference. There's a new book to be done and released with PWLib 1.2 Final (named PWLib Unleashed).

I plan to make the new book both in PDF form and HTML (to be available on the site).

Also making a topic for codes could be complicated (as it grows, finding the pages for older references can get hard). I can reply to coding questions here, as I always did.

-----------------
Extra notes on Beta:
The biggest problem in selecting the rest of the beta testers is that I need people who stay on a lot (not always, but get on considerably) and that I have contact with. This will ensure the beta runs fast as possible (since I can talk and test stuff quickly).
Christie and DDRKhat are very busy with real life stuff, so I mostly count them off from "always online".

The last PWLib Beta Tester is England. He isn't from CR, but a guy that is in contact with me on MSN for quite a while.

I decided to start the beta with 4 people, and maybe select more in the course of the Beta. I may be contacting the selected users today or tomorrow to begin the Beta.

News
- (AIGE) Tweaks to the wait command to wait the correct time (fixes some issues with wait(1) and effects for example).
- (AIGE) Tweaked the effect kill commands.
- (PWLib) Moved the PW folder to inside the pwlib folder and renamed it to resources.
- (PWLib) The music folder "mus" that would contain the music pack was moved to inside the pwlib folder.
- (PWLib) The case selection screen now force-fades out the screen, as well waits until a previous fade finishes, when shown.

The change of the PW folder will cause the older games to fail to run, but installing the GFX Package for PWLib 1.1 will make it work. I'm thinking on a more automatic solution for older games to work with the new folder placement.

News
- (AIGE) Added compatiblity system for path called Path Redirect. (this allows pwlib 1.1 and older core games to run with newer pwlib 1.2 organization).
- (PWLib) Made the library more self-suficient. All needed libary data is now on the pwlib folder (gfx, sounds, scripts, etc).
- (PWLib) Added experimental folder to store experimental code.

Plans to be done in parallel with PWLib 1.2 beta/release:
I) Remake the Court Records code. The CR code was the first thing ever made for PWLib, and AHLSL on that time was very limited. The objective is to:
- Allow infinite pages
- Allow creation of more tabs
- Add more extension points (allow to put new buttons, instead of limiting to only Check)
- Add all missing animation effects (such as the present one)
- Ability to have multiple sets of "evidence and profile sets" (thus allowing a simpler way to make trials inside trials)
- Anything more that might come along

Initially, the idea is to remake it, then add a compatibility layer for "older" CR code. The new CR code will be initially made as Experimental.

That error is sign that there is no game script.

Read the PWLib In A Nutshell for information. It explains how to setup a game with PWLib 1.1.

News

- (AIGE) Finished first test version of the new Input Engine (DirectInput-based). This will allow in the future to support more then 3 mouse buttons, as well gamepads and joysticks.
- (PWLib) Fixed issue with "overlay options" to "fight each other" if one was shown while other was on screen.

More stuff as thet get completed.
Also, beta testers are receiving their copies of pwlib 1.2 now.

You need to follow the instructions on the PWLib In A Nutshell pdf. I was going to redirect you to the site, but it is down again (the pc stopped working).

I can send you the PDF via MSN (or explain how to work with PWLib).

I can send the PWLib 1.1 core package to anyone who needs it too.

News:
- (AIGE) Added function to control (use or not) the Message Box Letter Events. Letter Events can be added while the control is off. By default, AIGE starts with Letter Events off.
- (AIGE) Added configuration option on config file to set the use of preloader commands (such as preloadanimation). If disallowed on config, the command simply won't run.
- (AIGE) Added the commands var++ and var-- to respectively add 1 and subtract 1 from a variable. Eg.: var++([v]);
- (AIGE) Added the command vardefault that sets a variable to its "default" value. For numbers it is 0. For text it is an empty text. For dates, it is the current date.
- (PWLib) Added a test tail wait(5); to conterbalance the beta-test "preloadanimation" on Court Sliding Animations.

Currently working on: Rework the Court Room sliding to use newer sliding commands (as well to generalize it).

Major update on AHLSL:

One language limitation on AHLSL that was present since the first AIGE released (PWLib 1.0) was the lack of peoper if and flow control statemets. If was available, but making multiple statements execute on a single condition was complicated and generated complex code. No while or any loop system was present (while could be emulated with if). And aside from the if, no more logic commands were available.
For months I thought on a solution for that, but never came to a simple idea to "fix" those flaws. How to make a way to support a proper, multi-command if statement block. By extension, how to make the other logic commands that would need multiple-command blocks, and as well, support recursion (a function calling itself).
Last week I finally found the idea I needed to make statement blocks. Now AHLSL supports those block-based commands:
- if/else
- while
- do/while
- switch/case
- for
And to support those, some flow control commands were added:
- break
- continue
Those two are conformant with C standards (break only working for while, for and switch; continue only for for and while).

This rework on AHLSL will allow easier coding, as well a lot of expanded possibilities. The old, 3 parameter if will be supported. Nesting of those blocks (one inside other) is supported as well.
Here is an example of some code of the new additions:

Code:
[game]
runscript("iftest");
runscript("whiletest");
runscript("fortest");
runscript("switchtest");
runscript("dowhiletest");
quit();

[iftest]
definevar([v],"int");
definevar([t],"int");

setvar([v],12);
setvar([t],12);

if(<compare(42,">=",[v])>)
{
   print("If 1 Done!");
}
else
{
   if(<compare([v],"==",[t])>)
   {
      print("If 2 Done!");
   }
   else
   {
      print("Else 2 Done!");
   }
}

[whiletest]
definevar([w],"int");

setvar([w],0);

while(<compare([w],"<=",12)>)
{
   var++([w]);
   print("Added 1 to v on while!");
   printvar([w]);
}

[fortest]
definevar([f],"int");

for(<setvar([f],0)>,<compare([f],"<=",20)>,<var++([f])>)
{
   print("Added 1 to v on for!");
   printvar([f]);
}

[switchtest]
definevar([s],"int");

setvar([s],1);

switch([s])
{
   case(1)
   {
      print("S is 1");
      break;
   }
   case(2)
   {
      print("S is 2");
      break;
   }
   case(3)
   {
      print("S is 3");
      break;
   }
}

[dowhiletest]
definevar([d],"int");

setvar([d],0);

do
{
   var++([d]);
   print("Added 1 to d on do!");
   printvar([d]);
}
while(<compare([d],"<=",12)>);

News
- (AIGE) Added a command to turn file lists contents to a normal list.
- (AIGE) Added a command to get a random item out of a normal list.
- (PwLib) Updated PWLib compilling screen.

Second AHLSL Major Update
- Added the #define preprocessor, allowing to create "defines", static variables (that can't have the initial value changed).
- Added Exception Handling, complete with Try/Catch/Throw.

Exception Handling can be used as a secure and clean error-management mechanism. In following updates, internal AHLSL commands will be able to throw exceptions for errors (such as variable not found, variable type mismatch, list not found, etc). This will speed up development time when it comes to bug trapping and fixing.

Implemented the finally clause for the Try/Catch Blocks. The finally block is a small section of code that will execute in any case (be a exception is catched or not).

Exceptions on AHLSL can be of three types:
1) ignorable: won't trigger an unhandled exception warning if uncatched, but can be catched normally.
2) normal: will trigger an unhandled exception warning if uncatched, but won't force AIGE to quit if catched.
3) critical: will trigger an unhandled exception warning if uncatched, and will force AIGE to quit even if catched (engine quit after finally ends).

Unhandled Exceptions will always cause an engine quit, unless it is of the ignorable type.

To create a new exception on AHLSL, the command is:
newexception("exception_name","exception_what","exception_level");

Unknown exceptions (undeclared) will trigger a critical, uncatchable "unknown exception".

Exception Handling Example:
Code:
[exceptiontest4]
try
{
   runscript("exceptiontest5");
}
catch("unbasicexception")
{
   print("Exception Catched: Unbasic");
}
catch("basicexception")
{
   print("Exception Catched: Basic");
}
finally
{
   print("Finally");
}
print("Exception 4 ended.");

[exceptiontest5]

throw("basicexception");

In the above code, if "basicexception" is ignorable or normal, the output on the log file will be:
>Exception Catched: Basic
>Finally
>Exception 4 ended.

If it is critical:
>Exception Catched: Basic
>Finally

News
- (AIGE) Applied changes to the FPS Calculation and Render correction. Now the base fps is defined by the current refresh rate instead of a fixed number (60).
- (AIGE) Changed the FPS Display. It has its own internal object (instead of be connected to the BG object). The text is now white and shows more information.

Quick question, if I may.

Thanks for PWLib in a Nutshell :) Cool format, and VERY easy to understand.

Anyway, here's the question. When making questions (which I really love and probably will overdo by the time I finish my game), is there a standard box, box size, or font that we use when making the button graphics? If not, does something explain the method (transparency, etc)?

I know how to make the image, and I understand the coding part, but I was just wondering about some specifics in the other regards.
Will eventually make something almost cool!

For questions the box must follow (at least for PWLib 1.1):
- 223x26 sized (I plan to allow different sized images on 1.2)
- the default, classic pw box is the white one with reddish border: http://www.court-records.net/rips/miscsprites%20-%20basic.png ("Select your answer line", 3rd image). The image won't have any bleeding transparency.

I don't know the name of the correct font.

The Third Major AIGE Update is almost done. Some interesting and important updates will be present that will add a lot more possibilities to PWLib.

Alrighty, thanks a lot for the last answer. Now I seem to have another problem (a bigger one, it seems). So I'm working with a LOT of characters right now, some custom, and some from GS. Well, today, I decided to download a few new characters that would be in the new case to which I just decided to move on and, wouldn't you know it, AIGE won't open. I'll double click and it just never responds. No process opens or anything.

For what it's worth, I only downloaded Alita Tiala, Dahlia Hawthorne, and Viola Cadaverini (It's a cool plotline between them, actually). Anyway, upon the download, whatever the stuff is in the data folder seems to be causing the problem, as upon their removal, AIGE would open again. Is this a known issue?

EDIT: Found it already... Looking through my files, Damon Gant was named Demon Gant. I wasn't even using him, he was just a test :). Anyway, this seems to have fixed the problem... somehow.
Will eventually make something almost cool!

AIGE 700a is picky with things it shouldn't, but with AIGE 800a close to release (and PWLib 1.2) it will be better soon.

I have AIM too, btw: ksatechnology

The Third Major AIGE Update!: The Message Box Update

- Added support for multiple message boxes at once.
- Reworked the message box simulation code.
- Changed Message Box text draw speed mechanics. Now the speed defines the letters per cycle instead of the wait time per letter. This fixes issues with lower fps issues where the text could turn up running faster than expected. Also the new system is more intuitive (smaller = slower, larger = faster). The speed can be smaller then 1 (0.4 for example).
- All objects inside AIGE are now searchable, except the FPS Display.
- Two new commands were added to support multiple message boxes: createnewmsgbox and selectmsgbox.
- Added command advanceall that will apply advance on all enabled message boxes at once.
- AIGE will start up with a default message box selected (defaultmsgbox), thus no code changes will be required. This default message box is owned by the engine.
- Added tag $r to the Message Box. It will run an AHLSL function when hit.
- Fixed issue with message commands using the auto modifier (messageauto, messageinstantauto) working when the message box was hidden.
- Added the command messageclean that removes the current text from a message box. This command works even if the message box is hidden.
- Fixed all fps correction effects/events on all sections of AIGE requiring FPS correction (animations, waits, etc) to work as it was intended.
- The FPS correction value now includes one forgotten correction that will affect rendering when the Refresh Rate of the video card isn't 60.
- Changed FPS change resistance a bit. It is now softer.
- Added basefps option under timming at engine.cfg. This value is used to define the virtual FPS for speed-dependent effects/events. When calculating the wait times for example, the times will be based on this formula: (time on function) / (basefps). This standardizes all times to a common value. By default, the basefps is 60 (as it was on previous versions).
- Allowed Frame Delays on SAS (Simple Animation System) to be decimal values (instead of only integer). This means animations can use decimal values for frame delays.
- Added new log: Output. It generates the file output.log on the log folder.
- Commands print and printvar now output to the new Output Log.
- Fixed issue with internal KSA Technology String Class causing strings to grow when not needed.
